Oh wow, I randomly stumbled onto this video when looking for footage of something in the arcade version. I have some of the high scores on this specific cabinet, I was always wondering who the other person was that made it to the end. I usually play it whenever I see it to see if I can get a better run, but your movement is so confident and clean, I have a lot to learn. If you end up at Smashcon 2024, I'd love to meet up and watch you go for best ending. You'd crush my score for sure.
This was awesome to read! I found out that this cabinet is from a place in Maryland I think? I speedrun the original version so I pretty much tried to copy what I could while dealing with using an arcade stick (it was better than I thought it'd be) I've been at every smashcon so I hope to see ya there
@@redd91 Yeah, it's from an arcade called Save Point. It's not usually up at their physical location, but they almost always bring it to conventions they're hired for. Right now for the month it's set up at peabody heights brewery in baltimore. It's also on a multigame cabinet, so if you see it playing samurai shodown or a shmup, holding 1p start + the top-left button on the 1p side should get you back to the game select menu. From what I've heard, it should pretty much be using the same systems from the NES game. I've seen the trick for getting the level 2 special item by not pushing the cannon and landing on a thrown bomb work, but I'm not sure about anything outside that. I haven't tried learning too many speedrun tricks other than helpful star rides, but I'll try some if I ever get consistent enough at it.
@@G.M.M. No worries, unfortunately didn't seem like they had the multi-game going this time as it was on some anime fighter each time and the button combo wasn't resetting it :( oh well, I hope you had a good weekend! next time for sure
@@redd91Oh no! It was there, although there were a couple different multigame systems, so I understand the confusion. It looked like they also got in a new control panel that had a dedicated button to get to the game menu, which would've also confused things. Next time though!
