    Thanks for this instructional video Matti. I just bought a G9 +12-60 & 8-18mm lenses and so far I am delighted with the build quality, intuitive user interface, myriad of features and functions as well as the IQ. It's a quantum leap from my G85 but it's also much bigger and heavier.

    Thanks for a great video. I like your photographs very much. Do you have a web site where I can see more of your work? By the way, I'm surprised that you only shot in RAW format. Lumix has some wonderful JPEG picture styles. I particularly like L mono. I use it in bright sunlight and the results look like T Max 100 film, very lovely indeed. M4T and Fuji are creating a renaissance in JPEG shooting. What is your opinion of this. I shot in RAW with Canon for about 10 years. I bought my G85 because of the wonderful JPEG images, especially L mono.

    • @1957PLATO
      @1957PLATO 5 ปีที่แล้ว

      You are right. Olympus also has great jpeg presets. I have grown tired of all the processing of the raw files. When I shoot my Canon 5d iii I still shoot raw howver.

    • @mattisulanto
      @mattisulanto  5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Thanks. I find that I always have to do something in post to get what I want, so I might as well shoot RAW and also the post processing is not a drag for me, I like it. I have a web site, but I'm ashamed to admit that it's lagging behind. But now that you asked, I have a good reason to update the site. However, if you are interested go here: sulanto.fi

    • @mattisulanto
      @mattisulanto  5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Thanks! Shooting RAW it doesn't matter, but shooting JPEG it matters and I recommend using sRGB for online publishing and Adobe RGB for print. I just have the Adobe RGB on, because I used to shoot a lot for print, but as I shoot RAW it really doesn't matter.

      @@mattisulanto Old as in this video is old and possibly outdated now...
      I apologize if my thought process here is incorrect. You've gone through and turned off all the beeps individually, right? Does initiating silent mode not just do that automatically without having to turn each function off individually?
      I think you mentioned something about silent mode making things perform differently, so perhaps that's where your logic comes from.

    • @mattisulanto
      @mattisulanto  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@sklba632 The silent mode turns on the electronic shutter and that is not ideal in many situations. If you turn off the beeps you'll make sure that they are off no matter which way you use the camera.

      @mattisulanto  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Well, it's hard to say anything, because I don't know what kind pictures you intend to make. If you have a project and you are serious about it, I suggest you do some research and take some test shots in similar conditions you'll be shooting your project. Try different settings and see what comes out and what looks best to you. Also, make some test prints of your test shots, so you'll see how they look. It's worth it to test a bit before starting a project and you'll learn something too.

    Hello Matti,
    I'm an Olympus shooter, but I'm looking for another M43 body with a better C-AF and Tracking AF performance and also good video specs. I'm trying to decide between the E-M1 II and the G9, but It's such a tough choice because the G9 looks an amazing camera! I'm more focused on the Lumix because it has awesome video, but I have doubts regarding the C-AF and Tracking AF, especially with Olympus glass because almost all my lenses are Oly. So my main question is how does the G9 (with firmware 2.0) holds with Oly lenses against the E-M1 II? Thank you in advance.
    Regards,
    Bruno.

But if I open the screen and want to look through the viewfinder, the viewfinder stays black. Do you know how to set the camera to switch from one to the other automatically when I look in the viewfinder with the screen opened ? Thanks a lot.
