I love this so much. I am a wire bender and this is so interesting. We have a similar situation in our island of Trinidad and Tobago in the Caribbean where wire-bending is becoming a lost artform for the same reasons you mentioned in this video.

As a lion dancer I'm impressed to mr. Ng because I know that lion heads are'nt easy to make and mr. Ng taught himself on how to make lion heads,I would love to use his lion heads!
you do beautiful work , i too am a craftman of my trade and have had to adapt my craft to a world of technology instead of craftmanship and yes , it sucks!!!!!! i am currently build a new EXOPUPPET for my art studio as a street performer and guess what , it a lion of sorts. you are a true master of your craft sir, may your work be preserved for generations to come and my your gods bless you and yours, amen
I came across this video because i want to make lion costumes. I wanted it to be college graduation project but it was rejected. Now, about 6 years later, ice started actually learning lion dance. But my body isnt really in the right shape to dance well and i want to shift more toward repairing our lions and building new ones. More of my skill kies in sewing and i can find even less info on making the blankets then i can the heads. My hope would be to apprentice with a lion maker but i dont speak the languages associated with lion dance and cant afford to take time off work. So, like the person in the video, i will do my own research, inspect and dissect the lions that are around me and do my best to start from the ground up.
How can I get in touch with Mr. Ng? Me and some friends want to learn how to make a lion dance costume, something like a course and how much would it coast.
