In this episode we go shopping for a New Lion Dance Costume to replace our beloved Lai Lai...in Vietnam. We visited 3 places. Each with it's own unique way of selling you a lion. We also take you inside on that make lion from scratch. This is where they make Lion Dance Equipment. in every vietnam city there is quite few lions head shop , heck if you come to vietnam in mid autum festival time ( trung thu ) you will see lion dance everywhere lol so there is big enough demand for lion head , gear that in each city there is more then 1 shop

Hey Leon, great video my friend - very informative and interesting...I was wondering if there are different "grades" of the Lion Heads? For example, is there any difference between the ones professional performers use compared to toy ones? Also, do these places also sell the tail part? Finally, was it hard to transport back? I'm going to Vietnam soon and would love to get some information.
Kevin Masters I’m no expert but, overall, I would NOT buy it from Vietnam this way again. The shipping is too much of a hassle. At the end of the day, the lion cost more if not the same.
I would just get the lions from eBay, WingWai, or Emplion. Check them out on IG. I also have a video where Tien bought one from WingWai.
@@LeonTruong Thanks Leon...I was thinking the same so your advice is much appreciated...lugging the head from the shop the airport and then home would have been a big hassle, not to mention the potential for damage would have been very high! I will look at your other videos where your son bought another head from a professional seller. Thanks again pal!

why black and white? i mean traditionally (when it was used for martial arts), those who use black and white ones means to challenge others or accept any one's challenge (as in fighting)
I actually bought my lion in the First or second shop you showed I forgot which one they all look similar my brother hooked him up with a. Certain design so it’s more durable and way better for extreme performances

Howdy. Did you ever get the final price after customs? Im leaving Vietnam in a two days and wonder if it's worth buying over here.
The verdict right now is that it is NOT. Unless you are willing to carry that on the plane yourself. The shipping has too much hidden fees for it to be worth the headache

anh nguyen due used google or facebook and ask local vietnamese ( there plenty of vietnamese group in facebook , heck there is group for each city ( aka saigon, da nang , hanoi vv ) :) there plenty of lion seller shop in every city mate from 1tier city to the 4 tier city / town

Do you know where the best place is to get a lion in Saigon that’s good quality (not to much dong)?
My finding was that all the lion dance shops are fairly the same price. The shipping is around $180-$200 to ship to USA. I recommend #2 in the video. They actually make the lions. But I don't recommend doing any custom lions. Just buy the one that is off the shelve so you can at least know what you are getting.
