I really like the poem and I think she is great but its confusing me - i thought slam poetry was about not having any form and no guidelines but now it seems more and more that all these people follow the same form - their voices even sound the same - the voices rise and fall in the same place - like the same feelings. so im not sure - but essentially its just a new form that falls along the confinement of poetry that is not free verse. which is great but seems to contradict why slam poetry was started.
Ha I do feel like at too, if u watch shane koxens , "to this day" you'll see he used the same pattern. I think it's the most common because it's fairly easy to pour emotion into the frame most used by others.
