    We all know that companies and some pros are the only ones that are going to pay full price for the App. Thanks for the information Teoh!

    Adobe's insane "rental" structure drove me away from them wholesale. I am very happy using Corel painter, and davinci resolve, and other alternative tools, and frankly I don't think I need to go back to adobe again. (Though I do confess that being able to purchase photoshop elements outright is very useful.)

    Something I’ve wondered while watching all of your videos is re: printing. Do you ever print any of these digital drawings? If so, what are the results? A separate video on that topic would be interesting, at least to me.

    • @teohyc
      @teohyc  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      I don't print them. But nowadays printers are good. You can get all sorts of options for paper, thick, thin, glossy, matte. And resolution is much higher. Some print with archival inks as well.

    Adobe Fresco to me feels sort of like a watered down Photoshop with a few new features (Live Brushes and Vector Brush). These features to me feel like things that could've been added to photoshop instead of making a brand new app with subscription. I get that they wanted to make something specifically for illustrators but photoshop works great for us. Don't get me wrong, the live brushes are amazing. But I don't see myself justifying another subscription model for just those brushes. I'm about to downgrade from all adobe apps to just the photography plan because I don't have a reason to have every app anymore too. Procreate is definitely the iPad drawing app I'm sticking with. I hear Photoshop for iPad beta testers are saying not to expect full photoshop with all its features upon release too. Which is sort of the opposite of what they promised last year. Hopefully it contains all the features I use to make client work more portable for me.

      Actually the entire point here is that photoshop has become to robust for its own good for basic drawing to the point where many artists have been asking for something like this...a slimmed down photoshop aimed at sketching. this is perfect for what it is, unfortunately many people want it to be something that it is not. 90% of the people using this are going to be adobe creative cloud users who are already paying for the monthly unlimited service as professionals or students so this app will seem free to them.

      itsk3hiphop I definitely see what you mean. I went in hoping this app would replace desktop photoshop for me and came out disappointed because of it. I can see how it’s more userfriendly for newcomers which makes it appealing. Looking back I was irrationally frustrated with the app hahaha. I also found out sometime after this comment that the app is actually free. But there’s a subscription version if I’m not mistaken. Whichever the case, everyone has their preferred software. I’m happy to see anyone create awesome art 👍🏼

    Please either update or remove this video - high-resolution export in any format is now FREE in Adobe Fresco. This means you can go from a rough sketch to a final 8Kx8K layered document and export it in any format, for free. Fresco is a free app, but many videos on TH-cam do not accurately convey this information. This was changed back in January. Thank you.

    Going to steer clear of this app. It's missing a lot of features and is charging a premium price. I'll stick to Procreate and Clip Studio.

    • @kyletwebster
      @kyletwebster 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      pesto12601 Subscription is no longer needed for the high-resolution export. This means all tools, 90% of the brushes (including all watercolors and oils), all other features (unlimited layers, layer actions, time-lapse, etc.) are free in the app. Subscription only gets you extra storage and access to the full Adobe brush library, as well as other Adobe library features. But for creating art, from start to finish, and exporting high-res files, the app is 100% free.

    You: there are 10 things you need to know. Me: the totally ridiculous price tag of $120 a year for a half baked Ipad app is all I needed to know that this is not for me 😆 It's almost insulting that they even dare to ask that kind of money for an Ipad app.... as if customers are totally stupid.

  • @artbybenjamin
    @artbybenjamin 4 ปีที่แล้ว +7

    Why is Adobe even trying to bring a subscription model to the Ipad at all? People aren't going to pay $10 per month for this. Unless you do have a subscription already that gives you this for free it's useless. If you don't and you're an Ipad only user (yes Adobe, those are a lot of people) then there are better and way more affordable options out there. An $10 - $20 would be reasonable, anything more than is absurd. Asking $120 year after your is just a scam. Sorry, got no other words for it. Adobe wants to break into the Ipad market, but they've got no clue how to do it, they're so stuck in the cloud that they can't find their way out and understand the real world anymore.

      Adobe's gameplan is about Creative Cloud. Their mobile efforts have always been about pushing people towards a CC subscription rather than trying to monetize a single app. They know that very few people will pay $10.00 for a single app on iOS no matter how good it is. Fresco is doing what all of Adobe's mobile apps did. They "support" CC counterparts. They tie you into the CC subscription. Alone, all of Adobe's mobile apps are less than amazing.

      @@TheChameleon2008 What's crack? Anyway, Procreate brush engine sucks, it offers lot's of options, but most of them are useless and the most important ones don't feel right. Procreate's take on such an important feature as brush stabilization is simply an outright failure. It starts cutting corners at the lowest settings when otherwise you don't see any brush stabilization at all. That's not how Fresco or Clip Studio Paint brushes work. Fresco has the same brush engine as the desktop version of Photoshop which is an industry standard for desktops and so is Clip Studio Paint.

    • @TheChameleon2008
      @TheChameleon2008 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@S_Bellew But procreate 5 gets a new brush engine anyways. You talk about fresco and photoshop having the same engine but even in fresco it is limited and fully working desktop brushes dont look and feel the same so yes.... its shit. Can we copy text and put into a sketch on fresco? I’m writing a graphic memoir and I thought I would use fresco for my thumbnail sketches and then I could import it into illustrator and/or photoshop to finalize it. This is my first book, so I don’t know how much room, I will need for the speech balloons so I wanted to put the text into the sketch and work from there. Can you help? Thanks

    The live brushes are impressive, that's the big selling point, but not even remotely worth the price. Procreate, easily the best art app on the iPad sells for $9.99 USD and it's a one time purchase, all upgrades available in perpetuity. Frankly, Adobe is out of it's tree with this approach.

    Adobe's pimpin people pretty hard with that app. In order to keep receiving their drug of choice, one has to keep paying their dealer. 😉 Correct me if wrong. Aren't there free apps out there that are comparable to Adobe Fresco? Teoh I think a good topic for one of your videos would be what free apps are comparable to the paid ones. Also if there's a possibilities to get all of the features of the paid apps by installing multiple free apps.
