I always watch your vlogs with Martin in. The silver fox is brilliant. I’ve been to the cheesecake factory and their cheesecake is so gorgeous. I would only go in for the cheesecake. With regards to the cream think of it from a catering perspective. The heavy cream is poured into a vessel that has an aerosol pump on the top. It automatically whips up the cream . The only difference is it doesn’t disintegrate like the cream we remember. When you serve as many people as they do you can’t be stood all day whipping cream.
I have been fortunate to go to the States on several occasions over the years and i can not believe how much the prices have increased. It used to be a place for value for money,but it seems not anymore!

Inflation in the US is especially bad in the last 3 years. Food is ridiculously high, the economy mismanaged. I visited London for a month last June & even though people living in London were complaining about the rising price of food at the time, I found groceries to be at least 20% cheaper than the United States. I went nuts buying food in London.

When I’m over for work I always love at least one visit to the Cheese Cake Factory. I normally take the cheesecake back to the hotel and eat it for breakfast.
In years gone by, if you sent food back in the states or only ate 50% they wouldn’t let you pay for it. Also I’ve had a few Cheesecake factory CK and they don’t do a biscuit/cookie base it’s cake based crumb. The waitress if she had given good service would have credited BOTH main course’s

Restaurants lobbied the Govt many years ago, They wanted to pay their staff less than Minimum wage, the bill was passed, This is why we are expected to tip wait staff, it was a small percentage years ago, then Restaurants started to suggest the tip we should give, it was 10%, Now all Credit Card payment systems suggest we pay as much as 30%, and you wonder why its expensive to live and eat in America, Lee things have changed even in the last ten years and Greed is at its worst. Id love to have a business where I expected the customers to pay the staffs wages directly, Its nothing but a CON, and of course just like usual the American people fall for it. Id sooner see that servers wage included in the cost of the food as some people never tip, that leaves the rest of us to support these workers, Shame on Restaurants it leaves a bad taste in my mouth...
I went to several Cheesecake Factories for the ambiance, I'm into design and architecture, the one you went didn't impress me that much, there are others that are more elaborated. Like everyone else, I like the cheesecake with a glass of wine, then I don't have room for anything else.

It’s the exchange rates that are making it expensive. It’s been in the $1.20’s to the £ for a while . I remember going in the early 90s it was $1.90 to the pound and then later years around the $1.50 . I’ve been to Florida four times in the last two years and it ain’t cheap no more but love it 😍.
Having been in the states a few times myself to see family (California and Colorado), I do find American food a bit too highly processed. At times it’s a bit like eating children’s food. I just can’t believe how expensive it is over there now. The same money would get you beautifully cooked food using fresh local ingredients from throughout the Highlands (such as West coast shell fish) here in Inverness, in one of the local restaurants
We went to one in a shopping centre in orlando 2022, I had the miso salmon wife had the 3 pasta thingy, daughter had a burger, we shared a couple of deserts and really enjoyed it, however, like you say, it was expensive with drinks.

My brother is 55 and swears he doesn't dye his hair - he is the only over 50 I know whose hair naturally darkens at certain points in time before naturally lightening over time and then getting darker again a few weeks later! Genuinely the dream would be to live on an American salary in Britain. I moved back to the US after getting my master's in Bristol and everything feels like it's twice the price. My salary is far higher than those of many of the students in my courses but it's still absolutely absurd in the US. Lots of people are really struggling (in both countries). I remember people complaining about 5 quid pints in Bristol...thats nothing. Try $8-9 plus tip in Boston and probably more in NYC. Madness.
Your first courses weren't for me, I thought they both looked awful. The desserts were ok albeit too large a portions for me, but I'd have opted for Martin's one which looked lovely. Leaving any cream is sacrilege though. Ha! It always makes me laugh when everything comes in bunches in the US. Oh, and price was outrageous, and there are folk here in the UK who think we're expensive.

But when I saw the amount of fat and sodium of most of the menu items, I decided to avoid it. One meal can easily exceed the maximum daily recommendations for both. Is that the origin of the expression: "To die for?" But those pastries sure look good. Not good for us, but great for profits. Speaking of which, house wines at $44 per bottle? Cocktails on the menu with no prices? NO! On the positive side, they are very generous with the parsley flakes garnish which is great if you lick the plate.

As an expat in San Diego I've noticed the cost of food has gone crazy. Post covid some places have increased their prices by almost 50%. Just check the prices at McDonalds. Eating out in the UK is so much cheaper.
