I had the 2011 350. Bike was amazing. I haven't rode one since, and all the reviews say today's 350s are so much better than the original. I can't imagine how my old 350 could have been better
I liked my Yamaha WR400 but loved my WR450 that much more but I’m a large person. I was able to get them tagged but our state made it a real pain in the arse to renew your tags which I dreaded ever other year. I flipped the coin between the KTM 350 and 500 EXC-F and chose the 350. I am amazed how that little motor can pull my butt up hills. I’d still be on Yamaha if they give us a street legal version 50 state legal but give or sell us an off-road kit to make it barely street legal. I’d love to give a WR350 a shot.
The Ktm 350 is one of the most reliable engines built. I’m by no means a fan boy. But both my 450 and 350 Austrian bikes have 150+ hours. With no engine work done. Just oil, air filters and clutch dampers on the 450….
@@OtisFlintare you high? All my yz’s have never had a problem. My friend has 5 kids that have all Yamaha 250f’s all well over 100 hrs no problems. Several ppl I know have 200hrs.. would I let mine go that long without new piston rings? No but even all magazines have said time and time again Yamaha out of all their test bikes are the most reliable and less problematic bike!!!
It's a easy thing for them to do. The math is easy. Reduce the 450 bore to 88mm from 97 mm and shorten the rod 3.3 mm from 60.8 o 57.5. Change the cdi to accommodate Run the 250 head blank move the mounting holes out and there is a 350 YZF.
Here is an interesting possibility, especially since it was Kailub Russell they hired: A YZ350FX (pure GNCC/MX race), a WR350F (somewhat corked for trail), and (down the line) a WR350R (really corked up as a dual sport replacing the WR250R) all sporting 6 speed gearboxes like the YZ250FX. No need for a YZ350F as the FX version could easily cover: 1) average Joe Open MX and ALL "average Joe" off-road applications. 2) Open Pro XC1 GNCC/Enduro, while the YZ450F would cover 450 Pro MX/SX with the FX version covering all the Pro WORCS/NGPC/Desert/etc. For manufacturing purposes, same engine platform (w/the WR350R version probably beefed up for reliability and service intervals). The 450 engine is already bulletproof, a 350 bulletproof engine for all the above applications would sell like hotcakes. Of course, a WR350F may not be necessary either (& can even drop the WR250/450Fs), as a WR350R done right could cover the trail. How about it Yamaha?
I have a yz250f with the max rpm 300cc bore and stroke kit and a wr250 gearbox. That thing is the juice. If yamy made a 350fx i would sell all my bikes to get one..
I’m a Honda guy but Yamaha is my second favourite bike and if they make a 350 before Honda I’d have to get one. I’d still keep my Honda 250 and I’d have one of each. I tried out the Husky 250 compared to my Honda and I couldn’t get comfortable on the Husky. I loved the power of the Husky but I’ve been spoiled with the comfort, simple ness and turning of the Honda. I personally like the aluminum frame better except on a two stroke.
Yes, the 350 will take sales away from 450…it will out sell all bikes and manufactures in its first year, stamp it. I’ll park my husky for a yz, make the dam 350 already
a yz300f(x) would be an awesome bike. it dont neeeed to be a 350, although a 350 would be great. also, put e-start on the yz 2 strokes and ktm would be hurting
The best selling units from the RED/ORANGE/WHITE group is their 350's. It is way past time for the AMA, FELD, MX SPORTS to tell the manufactures that 350 will be the thing in 2-4 years because the 450's are way to BIG/FAST for stadiums and for just about every normal person that doesn't weight 250++!!

@@jpesicka492 yes I know the history lol, I still think it’s the best bike Yamaha ever made. The 426 is virtually the same bike as the 400 but with a bigger top end and a different crank. The crank and top end of a 426 actually bolt onto the 400 directly. 450 is just sitting on that “too much” mark. I think the 400 is a good middle ground, the thing has more power than I’m ever going to need
They have it in Europe. It's been developed by Red Moto. They have a 350 and a 400. Fantic has developed a Yamaha engineed yz310 4-stroke for the Italian market. They're racing Enduro GP with it right now and it is fucking awesome
@@Dashriprock4Honda Red Moto has 300 kit for CRF250, my buddy has one. They have a 400 kit which is a detuned 450 also. I don't think they make the 350. Look into it .
@@Dashriprock4 All good, wasn't trying to be a dick. My buddy's from Italy and is friends with the Red Moto guy, that's where he got the 300 kit. Took his stock 250f ECU to him, got it reprogrammed for 300. Bike rips,doesn't like to over Rev like the 250f though.
Yamaha started this over 10 years ago I helped develop the crank ,stroke and rod length for the motor then the project got shelved for monetary reasons
I’m calling bs. I want Yamaha to make a 350 just as much if not more than the next guy but I don’t think this dude knows as much as he thinks he does. I’m talking about whoever it is that said Kaleb helped develop the ktm 350. Bro the 350 came out while Kaleb was still on a super mini. It had been out for a few years before he went pro and got on a 250f. It had been out for almost a decade by the time he made it to xc1. Still hoping dude is right and Yamaha does a 350.
I have been riding mostly KTMs for 15 years. I would by a Honda, Yamaha, or Kawasaki 350 the first week it hit the floor. I have hated every fork KTM ever made, including the new 6500 coil spring fork that is on my 2024 KTM 350 xcf. The 2024 KTM xc's are huge screw up by KTM. The coil spring fork is 10mm shorter making the chasis completely unbalanced, and this is made worse by the '23 & '24 frame that everyone has heard about, on top of all that the engine was rotated backward thus lowering the drive sproket relative to the swingarm pivot which causes the rear swingarm to bind unless you have about 4" of slack in the chain. This is mostly corrected for 2025 motocross models, but the 2025 XC models still have a fork 10mm shorter... DUH KTM. Ok, one more problem with KTM... Chinese parts. Yep, they layed off a bunch of their Austrian workers, and are having some parts made in China. THe radiators for example. I will not be buying another new KTM. THe 2019 to 2022 chassis is a dream compared to the 2023+ chassis. Only problem is that 2019 - 2022 bikes need a spring fork conversion. The air fork was, is, and always will be trash.

Yamaha is so incredibly far behind to power curve on a 350F. It's been the bestselling bike for KTM for years. The Japanese are so slow to implement changes in comparison to the Austrian manufacturers.

In my opinion yamaha will not make a 350. The newer 450s are very tunable. You can make a 450 feel like a 300 if you want to. I have done it. I just don't see them doing it money wise. I might be wrong though.

I hope so. I currently race a 24 Yz450 and previous bike was a ktm SXF 350. Much prefer Yamaha suspension frame and power delivery

The 400 evolved to a 426 then to a 450. It was the predecessor that caused the death of the 2 stroke in AMA SX/MX thanks to Doug Henry.

300 kit was new cylinder & piston, and ECU was reprogrammed.
