This was a great tutorial Ryan. All the steps were broken down in a logical way, and easy for a beginner rider to understand. This is a basic move that all horses should be taught no matter what they are used for. Many years ago, I worked as an assistant trainer on property that maintained three teams of polo ponies, and this is one of the first moves the younger horses were taught before their first match. The sliding stop at a gallop, and the pivot turn and back into a gallop from the stop to chase that little white ball, is one of the most used manoeuvres in a game of polo, and the horse that can master this is an asset to the game. It’s also beautiful to watch when done properly. I love Ryan’s channel, as every time I watch, it brings back so many memories of a time when horses were a big part of my life. Greetings to all from Australia 🇦🇺!

I really like how you break things down showing the mechanics combined with being Intune with your horse. Thanks for also posting a video of this for teaching to green horses

Thank you for this. I was trying a way an old cowboy taught me, of asking for the horse to rock their weight back, then asking for the shoulder over to start the spin. It works on some, but I've had trouble with others. Maybe this will work better for the ones who just arent understanding.

Is the front leg movement the same for reining and cutting horse or does reiner need left leg first with left rein and cutter right leg first with left rein ?
