    Comparing the brightness but having the 10th gen on dark mode which makes no sense as u can not adequately compare it that way.

    That is not kindle paperwhite 7 gen, that is kindle basic. Kindle paperwhite 7 gen has backlight and has more round design and rubber back.

    I’m happy with my 7th Gen. it works great, has plenty of storage, looks great even with glare, and has the free Wi-Fi. I also prefer the smaller size to the 1Oth and 11th gens. For the money, I don’t see many advantages to upgrade. I’ll use mine until it’s dies. 😂

      My 7th gen has been working perfectly for years. But one weird thing did happen: I downloaded a book from Amazon via my laptop and tried to download it to my 7th gen, but it gives me "Unavailable for download - the item is not compatible with this device." That led me to look at newer models, and I must say I was underwhelmed. Who needs 8Gb for books that are 95% text? I've dropped my 7 gen Kindle on the floor so many times (when I fall asleep while reading in bed) but it keeps on working fine. Instead of buying another Kindle I'll just use the Kindle app on my iPhone when I want to read that incompatible book.

I'll change when it stops working or Amazon develops a voice- (or brain- !) activated version, so my hands can relax wherever they might be (petting my cat?) and I can turn pages by saying, "Paperwhite, would you please be so kind to turn the page." Or, maybe, just, "Turn." PS - I've recently begun reading horizontally (landscape) and wish someone (Finite, are you listening?) would make a cover with a horizontal kickstand and hand strap.

    As an owner of the 2018 (PQ94WIF), the 11th gen would be worth it to me for the larger screen, warm light, and faster page turns, but the larger dimensions mean it's not pocketable like the 2018 :(

    so your 7th gen looks nothing like mine (bear in mind mine is white not black) i have to say though i feel this video is abit dodgy, as you make alot of claims its much faster but i cant see that only thing i see dif is the flashing, but considering the 7th gen paperwhite came out in June 2015 and the 2023 upgrade so on looks very simular to it still isnt colourised for covers so on and is only slightly bigger i think your off your head if you buy the new one. its like 190 quid or somthing for the paperwhite where you must be able to get an 11th or 7th gen for much much cheaper for a very simular output. Also i have owned my 7th gen for 8 or somthing years got it brand new and still not filled its libary with books yeah the 7th gen doesnt let you listen to audio books but my question is why buy a kindle for audio books when most modern mobiles and tablets can do this for you. the kindle has kind of gotten lost in time its not doing enough to stand out from tablets and phones yeah dont get me wrong paperwhite 7th gen atleast feels amazing to read from but a kindle at £100 plus ISNT worth it at all. id recomend saving money and getting a cheaper model. There are alot of worrying videos online pushing the new kindles and alot of the time it feels that they are paid by amazon to do so. Amazon arent a great company for value just bear in mind the first kindle was out what almost 20 years ago and looking at them to the new one the design itself other than a bigger screen and a light in them isnt changed. its like the gameboy first one was black and white then got a light attatchment then could buy a gameboy colour kindles still dont offer colour. Also you cna tell by the UI look at his old kindle (i doubt is paperwhite 7th gen if he says 2014 as it came out in 2015) the uI on the old one and new one other than again a slightly bigger screen it looks the exact same dont get ripped off avoid new kindles unless can get on sale

    With the 11th Gen, the battery life I'm getting is not 8-10 weeks; maybe it's an issue, but with continued use I'm lucky to get 3-4. Great video!

    • @phz2406
      @phz2406 2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Pretty sure the 8-10 weeks quoted is just standby time not active use. Pretty useless metric.

    • @TimeIdle
      @TimeIdle ปีที่แล้ว +1

      8-10 weeks means you read 30 minutes a day with no lights on and wifi on airplane mode. But seriously though, even with 3-4 weeks, that's a lot. And USB-C charging means you can charge it anytime if you have a somewhat modern computer, phone, etc. with you.

    • @YooLookMarvelous
      @YooLookMarvelous ปีที่แล้ว

      I think their battery estimate is misleading; if you read for 4-5 hours per day, you're going to go through the battery quicker than if you read 1 hour/day.

    Mate. i think your conclusion is flawed because on the two main reasons you are wrong. performance wise it is almost impossible for the human eye to detect a difference between 7th gen and 1th gen. Brightness can also be adjusted on the 7th gen despite the fact that you claim otherwise. So 2 mistakes and wrong result makes this a pretty bad video recommendation.

    As if you knew I was in the market for one of them. (Started shopping for them this past week)
    I’m stuck between going for the 11th gen paperwhite or adding some more money and getting an iPad mini 6.
    My main concern is I have books & audiobooks on my apple store account but as the kindle is Amazon’s product, I doubt I’d have access to my content on the apple ecosystem.
    Price-wise I know the paperwhite is cheaper than the iPad mini, but not trying to start afresh and starting duplicating buying all the books I already have on my iphone.
    Second thing is Ads. Don’t get why they add that on the device you’re paying full value for - seems suspect.

    • @howtotechstuff
      @howtotechstuff  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Hey Lanre, thanks for sharing your thoughts. Couple of points from my side:
      - You can purchase Kindle with no ads or remove ads at later stage (there's an extra 10-15$ to be paid for this)
      - Kindle is purely for books and audiobooks. It has its pros and cons: pros because you won't be tempted to do other things on it (no distractions) and cons because it's limited to only those 2 functions really; you can't check your emails or social media on it, can't watch TH-cam, etc.
      - Kindle is much kinder on your eyes and provides better reading experience in bright sun; if you spend a lot of time on a computer/phone Kindle may help in reducing those screen hours, or at least not add to it
      - Agreed that you may have difficulty exporting Apple purchased books or audiobooks. You can get 30 day free Kindle Unlimited and see what's available there and possibly it may cover books from your Apple library. I have a link to the trial in the description of this video.
      - With Kindle, you can return it within 30 days so you could test it and see if it suits you. Amazon is very easy with returning their products.
      Hope this helps 👍

    • @1anre
      @1anre 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@howtotechstuff sure man it does.
      Maybe for that ease of warding off distractions & reducing strain on my eyes from staring @ OLED screens 14+hrs/day, I can rank the kindle a bit higher in my list & wait for a discount on the 11th gen edition and get one.
      I’m not sure if you’ve also done a comparison of the normal 11th gen and the signature edition & if the extra bucks for wireless charging and warm light is even really needed, if they both still have the same build quality and onboard features(USB-C charging etc)

    • @howtotechstuff
      @howtotechstuff  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    • @walkerhjk
      @walkerhjk 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@1anre The Signature edition is pretty much the same as the 'ordinary' Gen 11 which also has warm light in it, apart from 32 Gb instead of 8Gb and has wireless charging with an appropriate charger (I don't really see the point) but you can still charge with the USB-C The bigger capacity is so you can download Audible books which are considerably larger files than the usual Kindle books. However with an audible book, you also need either an external Blutooth speaker or Bluetooth headphones. As far as it goes, I don't like listeniing to someone else reading to me.
