Favourite comment came from former American president, FxckCensors: the spokesperson for how to be rude, mean, violent, and nonsensical in the comment section, and come off looking like an absolute imbecile.
It's ok to be a vegan. But being one just for the spike of it. Cod liver, beef liver, egg's. Maccrel, sardins. It's my go to power House. I eat Tons of vegetables. If its not for hurting animals. You be tripping(missing out on serious health).

Your channel has always been purely informative and you have NEVER slandered anyone. You're ALWAYS respectful and polite when replying to or debunking the arguments against veganism. Despite this, when you receive such negative comments it reinforces my belief that no matter what we do as activists, there will always be some ignorant idiot who will always find a way to pull us down. They don't have any argument so their only coping mechanism is to denigrate and body shame others. That's the best they can do. But don't let a few bitter and miserable a-*holes affect you. For every 1 d-bag who leaves a hate comment you have atleast a 1000 admirers well wishers.
Aww thank you, Mukul! And yes-there will ALWAYS be trolls. These comments that I shared are actually some of the more TAME that I've received! For me, these kinds of comments don't bother me in the slightest-they are quite amusing. There is PLENTY of other aspects of my work that are extremely overwhelming and outright debilitating. I'm trying very hard to avoid burning out entirely. Making this video was actually inspired from an effort to pull myself out of a pretty dark place. So I hope that it brings some light and joy to others :)
Thanks, Susan! But honestly, these comments don't bother me. I find them very amusing, actually :) There are PLENTY of aspects of my work that ARE profoundly distressing and challenging. Ridiculous troll commenters aren't one of them :)

I cracked myself up so many times reading his comment.... It's Just. The. BEST. And WOW-you actually wet into the description!! (give you read about the tornadoes)... you're one of the good ones. :) It was quite intense! That night 142 tornados broke out across the US. The most severe one (EF4) was the one closest to me but somehow it missed the towns (barely)...but did level several houses. Always scary with how unpredictable tornadoes are!
My husband and I went vegan 8 years ago together this September, and we did it because we wanted to save the animals. But following you and listening to your impeccable research and facts has made it 💯 times easier when I need things to send them as a vegan arsenal. Lol I love you Emily. It makes no sense. It's not in most first world governments' interests to run a vegan psy-op; to the contrary. Conspiracy theorizing is ironically equivalent to being incapable of thinking things through.

I have enjoyed your educational content for years (I have been vegan since 2008). This was a fun side of you that I haven't seen before. Glad that it was fun for you :) Yes, it's hard for me to know how and when to include my humor and extreme natural sarcasm in my work. It's evident in my very early videos, but overtime I got more and more intensively educational, researched, etc. Which I also greatly value and is also a huge part of who I am. It's challenging in vegan activism (especially ONLINE vegan activism) to not feel like you have to erase parts of yourself... And especially you have to be VERY careful about sharing struggles or anything, really. Because fair or not, you become a representative of "ALL OF VEGANISM"... If you sneeze or cough...it's cause vegan diets make you sick.. Have bad lighting in a video? Poor nutrition... and on and on.

When I started to watch this earlier I was in a restaurant. I had to stop watching it. I had one of those loud rare uncontrollable tourettes like laughs and it was drawing way too much attention to me... You will have to do the occasional follow-up, like an ongoing series or something. 😊 I'm sure you'll get plenty more of these since there's no shortage of morons in the world with unfettered internet access unfortunately.

if we all go vegan tommorow who's going to pay for the vet bills/field/maintenance? Aren't the animals still destined to the same fate in the end? People really believe that NGOs are gonna take care of the livestock when they can't even take care of their sheltered animals.. World Turning vegan means keeping 8 billion people fed.. Which means importing food over great distances because conventional agriculture is unsustainable, increased artificial fertilizer usage, increased emissions, increased usage of non-renewable resources.. List goes on, if i felt like going vegan would really benefit the world I'm all for it, i just don't see the point
Millions of cows in India have a much worse life than in neighbouring countries where they are eaten. People can barely afford to feed their children let alone a cow, the cows roam the streets eating from garbage piles, dying horribly by diseases and viruses..

Yes me too, I would like to have your address one day to come over and give you a big hug and thanks for all the work you have done. Dairy is such an addiction. As a French person, it took me a while to let go. Now of course in that white or yellow block, I see misery. But my good friend was so defensive when I say no to cheese at a supermarket. She was angry "What, what, what, cows are hurt while they are being milked or what?' I explained but it went like a supersonic plane. Not much really went it. Addiction, addiction.

I am a long-time fan and love your videos Emily. A year into my vegan journey there were not a lot of channels like today to answer all the questions I had about nutrients, honey, and so many other topics. You came along and thoughtfully addressed so many crucial subject matters, and to this day I can't think of anyone who worked harder at producing, editing, and finishing so many great videos. One of my favorites is the video about oysters when The Vegan Black Metal Chef comes out of nowhere to talk about nerve ganglia. By the way, you haven't aged at all and look amazing. It must be all the blood you are sucking out of those screaming vegetables.

People are weird. And many times the comments aren't worth reading. However, it is good to know that you can have a good sense of humor to deflect the riff-raff. BTW, when I first glanced at the title of this video I though it said, "Responding to Weird Al . . ." It definitely got my attention.

I could get more in-depth about the source of true troll-rage, but much of it is people's own anger, insecurities, etc coming out sideways and finding a target...
I went vegan for a few years. I lost my muscle mass and never felt good. I always had bad anxiety in the mornings and wasn't performing well at work. I added chicken and fish back into my diet, and it made a big positive difference. Veganism does not work for everyone. And most of the vegans I know are very snobby about it.

It's sad. It's so hard to talk to people. Some people can't look past our faces and see us as living people, and yet all we want them to be able to do is that exact thing for someone else. It's not enough to tell people that others are suffering when they lack the ability to see past themselves. I appreciate the way you handled this. You didn't try to explain your appearance... It's not about you, but you know that. They are not addressing you, and neither are you.
Very well said and so poignant. Yes, it isn't about me. And yes-people forget that they are talking about (and to) a real human being. I said as much to one commenter that I didn't include in this (looong story) and he actually came back the next day with an apology. Really there is a thing of "being vegan in public" that will bring the internet down upon you for anything... so, it's to be expected.
Though no longer vegan, I still completely admit that it is the most healthy and compassionate lifestyle one could ever dream of living. You, Gary Yourofsky and Ed Winters were my holy trinity per-say on all my learning and growing as a vegan. When I was a vegan, I was simply just healthy. Now I have to spend hours in the gym as a 57-year-old man just to maintain. Veganism is indeed the best lifestyle one could adopt.
Good luck with getting enough financial independence to get off food stamps. Then I hope you can afford all the beans, rice, frozen veggies, and potatoes you want.
I have relapsed also on cheese. And got a stroke. Wheatgrass juice and fasting with or without distilled waters works good on the parasites that come from eating animal products. Also staying completely raw.
@@Red_Cup_Of_Tea As a 62 year old man who finally came to his senses rather late in life I agree fully with your sentiments but am curious how anyone, knowing what you know now, and at such a mature age, can go back to eating animal products again. Though I am less than 4 years in (via vegetarianism) I struggle to come up with any theory as to why to go back.
So many carnivores will actually claim to be vegans. This has hurt me a lot in the past. They may have dabbled in veganism enough to sound legit but I am now skeptical until I have seen them under various circumstances. This has limited the number of friendships I have been able to establish since secret carnivores are always predatory.

I am way to sensitive to do what you do. I know people are insecure or some are so in the dark that they can’t help but put out negativity. But I’d still be way too sensitive to do what you do. Oh, and vegetarians are more awake than carnivores, but it might make sense to realize the problems with not eating meat but continuing to eat dairy and cheese. Go to about frame 6:45 to see why. It's a nice change from your other awesome videos, mixing it up with some humour and much needed sarcasm. Your sarcasm and humour is always on point, as is your knowledge. On a sadder note, i recently learned about bees being used as bomb detectors? Did you know about this? I'm so outraged. I wonder if you could do a video about our small friends sometime. I feel like you previously did one, but maybe you could readdress it? I feel the little creatures are often disregarded, even by vegans sometimes. Would love to see your take on it. Many of these comments imply that those of us who don't eat meat are the problem. Some intelligent, widely admired people who chose not to eat meat- Pythagoras, Socrates, Leonardo da Vinci, Voltaire, Newton, Benjamin Franklin, Nikola Tesla, Albert Einstein, Gandhi, Albert Schweitzer, George Bernard Shaw, Tolstoy, Thoreau, Saint Francis of Asisi, Nobel laureate and holocaust survivor Isaac Bashevis Singer, and many more. Some on this list switched late in life, but stayed on it to the end. "Nothing will benefit human health and increase chances for survival of life on Earth as much as the evolution to a vegetarian diet." -Einstein (Of course today, he would be vegan. So would the others on this list.) The famous Professor of Physics Brian Greene is vegan. You may have seen him on PBS hosting science shows for the layman. Jane Goodall recently went from a long time vegetarian to vegan. Greta Thunberg is vegan. Jon (Daily Show) Stewart is not only vegan, he owns a farm animal sanctuary!

People criticizing your body prefer the look of Bluto vs. Popeye! Like Whimpy, Bluto needs to eat spinach instead of hamburgers! I am also trim and firm. Even in my mid 60's I can do chin ups, etc. I credit my vegan diet centered around whole plant foods. Thin people have the last laugh. We live longer.

Hey we all need to blow off some steam from time to time! We exhibit a saintly amount of patience towards hateful bad-faith arguments all the time and it's nice to hear you address them as the lunacy that they are.
Please do waaaaaay more of this type of commentary. In the old days you used to do skits before they became ubiquitous (in Instagram mainly). So, keep fighting the fight, including against bad grammar, punctuation, and poor word choice. Your haters' comments provide ample entertainment just by (or is it buy?) virtue of their inability to communicate. I admire how you take this all on, I always freeze when people ask me why I am vegan -- mainly because I don't know where to begin. I might have to rewatch some of your vids and take notes. It's ok to be a vegan. But being one just for the spike of it. Cod liver, beef liver, egg's. Maccrel, sardins. It's my go to power House. I eat Tons of vegetables. If its not for hurting animals. You be tripping(missing out on serious health).

Your channel has always been purely informative and you have NEVER slandered anyone. You're ALWAYS respectful and polite when replying to or debunking the arguments against veganism. Despite this, when you receive such negative comments it reinforces my belief that no matter what we do as activists, there will always be some ignorant idiot who will always find a way to pull us down.
They don't have any argument so their only coping mechanism is to denigrate and body shame others. That's the best they can do.
But don't let a few bitter and miserable a-*holes affect you.

Aww thank you, Mukul! And yes-there will ALWAYS be trolls. These comments that I shared are actually some of the more TAME that I've received! For me, these kinds of comments don't bother me in the slightest-they are quite amusing. There is PLENTY of other aspects of my work that are extremely overwhelming and outright debilitating. I'm trying very hard to avoid burning out entirely.
Making this video was actually inspired from an effort to pull myself out of a pretty dark place. So I hope that it brings some light and joy to others :)

I cracked myself up so many times reading his comment.... It's Just. The. BEST. And WOW-you actually wet into the description!! (give you read about the tornadoes)... you're one of the good ones. :) It was quite intense! That night 142 tornados broke out across the US. The most severe one (EF4) was the one closest to me but somehow it missed the towns (barely)...but did level several houses. Always scary with how unpredictable tornadoes are!

Glad that it was fun for you :) Yes, it's hard for me to know how and when to include my humor and extreme natural sarcasm in my work. It's evident in my very early videos, but overtime I got more and more intensively educational, researched, etc. Which I also greatly value and is also a huge part of who I am. It's challenging in vegan activism (especially ONLINE vegan activism) to not feel like you have to erase parts of yourself... And especially you have to be VERY careful about sharing struggles or anything, really. Because fair or not, you become a representative of "ALL OF VEGANISM"... If you sneeze or cough...it's cause vegan diets make you sick.. Have bad lighting in a video? Poor nutrition... and on and on.

When I started to watch this earlier I was in a restaurant. I had to stop watching it. I had one of those loud rare uncontrollable tourettes like laughs and it was drawing way too much attention to me... You will have to do the occasional follow-up, like an ongoing series or something. 😊 I'm sure you'll get plenty more of these since there's no shortage of morons in the world with unfettered internet access unfortunately.

if we all go vegan tommorow who's going to pay for the vet bills/field/maintenance? Aren't the animals still destined to the same fate in the end? People really believe that NGOs are gonna take care of the livestock when they can't even take care of their sheltered animals.. World Turning vegan means keeping 8 billion people fed.. Which means importing food over great distances because conventional agriculture is unsustainable, increased artificial fertilizer usage, increased emissions, increased usage of non-renewable resources.. List goes on, if i felt like going vegan would really benefit the world I'm all for it, i just don't see the point
Millions of cows in India have a much worse life than in neighbouring countries where they are eaten. People can barely afford to feed their children let alone a cow, the cows roam the streets eating from garbage piles, dying horribly by diseases and viruses..

As a French person, it took me a while to let go. Now of course in that white or yellow block, I see misery. But my good friend was so defensive when I say no to cheese at a supermarket. She was angry "What, what, what, cows are hurt while they are being milked or what?' I explained but it went like a supersonic plane. Not much really went it. Addiction, addiction.

I am a long-time fan and love your videos Emily. A year into my vegan journey there were not a lot of channels like today to answer all the questions I had about nutrients, honey, and so many other topics. You came along and thoughtfully addressed so many crucial subject matters, and to this day I can't think of anyone who worked harder at producing, editing, and finishing so many great videos. One of my favorites is the video about oysters when The Vegan Black Metal Chef comes out of nowhere to talk about nerve ganglia. By the way, you haven't aged at all and look amazing. It must be all the blood you are sucking out of those screaming vegetables.

I talk about some of the resistance in my video of Why Smart People Stop Being Vegan: th-cam.com/video/OMBAFtUFtMY/w-d-xo.html (though I realize that is from the intellectual side). I could get more in-depth about the source of true troll-rage, but much of it is people's own anger, insecurities, etc coming out sideways and finding a target...
I went vegan for a few years. I lost my muscle mass and never felt good. I always had bad anxiety in the mornings and wasn't performing well at work. I added chicken and fish back into my diet, and it made a big positive difference. Veganism does not work for everyone. And most of the vegans I know are very snobby about it.
It's almost like the body needs a nice balance of certain things found it liquids meats and plants to function as well as it can or something 🤔

It's sad. It's so hard to talk to people. Some people can't look past our faces and see us as living people, and yet all we want them to be able to do is that exact thing for someone else. It's not enough to tell people that others are suffering when they lack the ability to see past themselves. I appreciate the way you handled this. You didn't try to explain your appearance... It's not about you, but you know that. They are not addressing you, and neither are you.
Very well said and so poignant. Yes, it isn't about me. And yes-people forget that they are talking about (and to) a real human being. I said as much to one commenter that I didn't include in this (looong story) and he actually came back the next day with an apology. Really there is a thing of "being vegan in public" that will bring the internet down upon you for anything... so, it's to be expected.
Though no longer vegan, I still completely admit that it is the most healthy and compassionate lifestyle one could ever dream of living. You, Gary Yourofsky and Ed Winters were my holy trinity per-say on all my learning and growing as a vegan. When I was a vegan, I was simply just healthy. Now I have to spend hours in the gym as a 57-year-old man just to maintain. Veganism is indeed the best lifestyle one could adopt.
Good luck with getting enough financial independence to get off food stamps. Then I hope you can afford all the beans, rice, frozen veggies, and potatoes you want.

I have relapsed also on cheese. And got a stroke. Wheatgrass juice and fasting with or without distilled waters works good on the parasites that come from eating animal products. Also staying completely raw.

@@Red_Cup_Of_Tea As a 62 year old man who finally came to his senses rather late in life I agree fully with your sentiments but am curious how anyone, knowing what you know now, and at such a mature age, can go back to eating animal products again. Though I am less than 4 years in (via vegetarianism) I struggle to come up with any theory as to why to go back.
So many carnivores will actually claim to be vegans. This has hurt me a lot in the past. They may have dabbled in veganism enough to sound legit but I am now skeptical until I have seen them under various circumstances. This has limited the number of friendships I have been able to establish since secret carnivores are always predatory.

On a sadder note, i recently learned about bees being used as bomb detectors? Did you know about this? I'm so outraged. I wonder if you could do a video about our small friends sometime. I feel like you previously did one, but maybe you could readdress it? I feel the little creatures are often disregarded, even by vegans sometimes. Would love to see your take on it. Many of these comments imply that those of us who don't eat meat are the problem. Some intelligent, widely admired people who chose not to eat meat- Pythagoras, Socrates, Leonardo da Vinci, Voltaire, Newton, Benjamin Franklin, Nikola Tesla, Albert Einstein, Gandhi, Albert Schweitzer, George Bernard Shaw, Tolstoy, Thoreau, Saint Francis of Asisi, Nobel laureate and holocaust survivor Isaac Bashevis Singer, and many more. Some on this list switched late in life, but stayed on it to the end.
"Nothing will benefit human health and increase chances for survival of life on Earth as much as the evolution to a vegetarian diet." -Einstein (Of course today, he would be vegan. So would the others on this list.)
The famous Professor of Physics Brian Greene is vegan. You may have seen him on PBS hosting science shows for the layman. Jane Goodall recently went from a long time vegetarian to vegan. Greta Thunberg is vegan. Jon (Daily Show) Stewart is not only vegan, he owns a farm animal sanctuary!

Please do waaaaaay more of this type of commentary. In the old days you used to do skits before they became ubiquitous (in Instagram mainly). So, keep fighting the fight, including against bad grammar, punctuation, and poor word choice. Your haters' comments provide ample entertainment just by (or is it buy?) virtue of their inability to communicate. I admire how you take this all on, I always freeze when people ask me why I am vegan -- mainly because I don't know where to begin. I might have to rewatch some of your vids and take notes.
