Hello again I watch this a good time back. Now I'm wandering how all of this is holding up for you??? It seems like a fail safe as long as it's kept out of the elements , like maybe not follow to close behind the salt spreader truck in winter. Also is there a chance of some water head over steering and breaking something going into the steering sector???? I know it applies much more force than what is put in. I have a couple of bigger tractors that need power steering. First one is a small 3000 series Ford diesel. While in my 20's I never noticed the steering now it is getting harder to plow with it all day or even back a trailer into a tight place because the wheel is stiff. Please give me a complete list of everything I need to get from the junkyard and other vendors to put this together. I can make the mechanical part work I just need it's inerds Or it (GUTS😵) all dripping. I sure wish I had of found this before putting power steering on my 1965 Chevrolet C-60 grain hauling dump truck. I took the front axle , hydraulic power steering sector box off frame of a newer truck ,pump and reservoir from a different truck. I now have a 1965 Chevrolet C-60 with one finger power steering. It just took fighting a bunch of briars , snakes , got in a hornet's nest , made a bunch of motor brackets for hydraulic pump , cut notch frame for new steering sector. Then swapped brakes from old axle to new one because my brakes were new but my axles wouldn't work with the power for some reason. Anyway one friend works in a job shop he looked at what I had done and told me they would have charged way up into the $$$thousands of $$$$$ for all I had done just to have a reliable power steering. Anyway if I had of known about doing this my truck would still have it's original front end under it and still have reliable and ((""SAFE""')) power steering!!!!!!!
Hello I understand this video is a few years old now. but I am looking to adapt a power steering system on my old case tractor. Do you have a link o any contact information for the gentleman that you purchased the rheostat system from?
i would imagine your tractor has a small generator/alternator so any issue keeping the battery charged with a 40 amp device to operate the steering? My gravely is similar in style to yours and theres a lot of steering involved in cutting the yard so in my hour of mowing the pump would probably be running 50% of the time.
Maybe you'll know.. I have a Bolens, horizontal shaft engine.. I want to add a power steering pump for hydraulics, but can't recall which pickup truck has the reservoir separate from the pulley, so I can mount it to the horizontal engine pulley.. Any idea? Electric won't cut it, I need "pulley power".
+JOHANNE LEMIRE You don't HAVE to have a relay ,but then the steering box would be live at all times.The steering box takes about 40 amps,so a relay controlled by your ignition switch is a common way to do this. Thank you ,Edwin

i got a stiga villa with a steerting wire on ot. do you think you cud cinvert that to direkt steering?

we just installed one of those with a controller on my son in laws buggie. they do not draw 40 amps all the time just at full load.
