Is this movie underrated??
To a certain degree, definitely. Feel it slipped under the radar a bit.
Absolutely Thor. This movie is a hidden gem
I would say so, I use to watch this all the time back at home and in school, good times
Yes. I remember when I was a kid my friend had it on DVD and that was how I was introduced to it. Loved it and watch it a few times, seeing reactors watched it made me appreciate it, especially watching it as an adult
Yeah it is to me.
This movie is indeed underrated and not enough people react to it. 😂
“When you stare at yourself in the reflection of a chip bag, that’s when you know you’ve reached a new low” 🤣🤣🤣
Fun Fact: this movie is what started the phenomenon of naming something Steve to make it less scary.
I was always surprised this film never got more attention than it did. It's very underrated
This is seriously one of the best DreamWorks movies of all time! I wore out the DVD, I watched it so much. I also like how Stella and Tiger's relationship is like the reverse of a Pepé le Pew cartoon, but far more mutual.
This movie was legendary in my house as a kid I can’t even count how many times my little brother and I watched it 🤣
Worthy of many rewatches!
Same here, my siblings and I couldn’t get enough of this movie, we watched it at least once a week 😂
Oh dude the movie AND the game were a MASSIVE part of my early childhood!
More than how funny this movie is, the thing I remembered it for from watching it as a kid was how I felt for RJ. The scene where the kids call him uncle and he feels terrible about what he has to do, with that song, was just perfection. And in the end when they hug him and his expression when he realizes he’s finally part of a family. That was always unexpectedly emotional to me as a little kid. Dreamworks excels at making very silly movies with unexpectedly heartfelt and emotional moments and deeper meanings
This movie even makes me not mind the typical “liar revealed” trope it uses, which I usually do, just because it was done well
This is actually my favorite Dreamworks film along with Shrek 2. I can't believe Happy Feet and Cars were nominated for Best Animated Feature in 2006, and not this masterpiece.
Another thing: Possums can't actually play dead. They literally become so scared, they pass out.
Yep. This movie was literally the first one to really do a 'Quicksliver' scene. But it can officially be called the 'Hammy' scene on account of it being first. So when everyone says Days of Future Past did it first, it's because they haven't really seen this movie when they were kids most likely.
Yes you are correct this one came out 8 years before days of future past.
My favorite line that's stuck with me is
"I just hope it's not in any pain-- **GASP** KILL IT! KILL IT!"
My favorite lines from this movie is
Vern: you're the devil
Rj: AHHHHHH
and
When rj was getting chased by the dog and rj said to the dog
Rj: down boy sit rollover......play dead
Then vern was dropping the food during the chase and rj said to vern
Rj: your dropping all the food man.
This movie came out when I was 4 I watched it all the time on DVD when I was younger and so when I saw that it went on Netflix and rewatched it the nostalgia hit so hard. It's sad that we're not going to see a sequel of this movie this cast did amazing with it
Oh my goodness, I am so glad you liked Over the Hedge!! Me and my sister used to watch this movie all the time when we were kids and none of our friends liked it. Underrated movie for sure. The cast was stellar too!
Me and my mom still quote “but I like the cookie” 🥺
Neat little detail: the "Sonic stops time" scene in the first sonic the hedgehog was based off the one in here!
This is a very funny and very cute animated heist comedy adventure film with an all star cast including Bruce Willis, William Shatner, Garry Shandling, Eugene Levy, Catherine O'Hara, Wanda Sykes and Steve Carrell.
Agreed! I think between the cast, the jokes, and the heist storyline, this movie deserves more attention!
This movie is hella underrated. It's such a fun watch
That movie was one of the many gems of my childhood
One of the movies my family actually owns. Loved it and found out how good the cast was later
One of the most underrated animated movies ever. This, Cars and The Road to El Dorado were my favorite animated movies as a kid.
i swear this was one of those childhood movies that kinda get put into the back of your brain and somehow pops up in your mind at like 3am in the morning a few years later and now you gotta watch it cause it feels like a fever dream lol
Mine was actually Ponyo even though that movie was actually a cinematic marvel.
27:47 well I know there was an episode of Futurama where Fry decides to drink 100 cups of coffee and this exact thing happens, my dad and me used to joke about Fry becoming a coffee god, but after seeing 'Days of Future Past' I realized he was doing the Quicksilver thing.
Also William Shatner(voice of Ozzie) recently came to my town for a Star Trek holiday thing.
R.I.P. Garry Shandling
Thank you for watching a movie filled with childhood memories! This brings back so much memories of when I was a kid.. I enjoyed that movie as much as I do now.
Really, one of my personal favorites. The talent involved is right up there with "Toy Story" ...yeah I said it.
A definite childhood classic. Also yes, they did the speed scene before Xmen
We watched this movie in school, like they dragged us all in to the assembly hall and we all sat on the floor and watched this (honestly though one of my favourite movies I was forced to watch) 😂
An animated movie you absolutely must see if you never have is Epic. Lots of fun, good cast, good humor, fittingly epic sort of story. I feel you'd definitely enjoy it. Beyond that, enjoyed this reaction immensely. I've always liked this movie's social commentary on our food obsessed yet wasteful consumer based capitalist society. Can't wait for your next reaction. Cheers!!!
Also, yes, this movie did come out before Days of Future Past.
Thank you Thank you for do Over the Hedge I been waiting for for this reaction
I went to see this in theaters in 2006, and my cousins and I loved watching it, I still enjoy it today
I love how the Turbo's beam of light was so powerful that its brightness was seen from the Milky Way galaxy
No wonder that thing is illegal in every state (except Texas)
After all, I liked this movie way back
Bruce Willis has weirdly lowkey done voice work. More than you'd think anyway. Look Who's Talking movies (not animated but it's still voice work), the first Beavis and Butthead movie. Stuff here and there.
It's so sad that he had to retire now because of the brain disease he has :(
He even had an animated series in the mid-90s (for about three minutes) called Bruno the Kid
This movie is great, and it actually has a rocking soundtrack.
You should definitely check out Hoodwinked. The animation isn’t… great, but the story and characters are pretty memorable.
And they do a similar thing with caffeine and a hyperactive squirrel I think.
@@richardrobbins387 that’s what made me think of it, tbh.
@@richardrobbins387 His name is Twitchy
This move is certainly underrated. I had the dvd and watched it even as a teen.😂
I think several of these animated films got looked over during this time period. My two boys absolutely loved this one.
"Does this predate Days of Future Past?"
Thor, buddy it predates the entire MCU and every X-Men movie from First Class onward. ^_^
Hearing Hammy (Steve Carell) reminded me of a couple movies I love with him in it. Little Miss Sunshine and The Way Way Back. Love both those movies - I almost forgot about this movie, but it was really good for its time.
One of my all times favorites as a kid. Pls watch Open Season
I know that this movie is not loved by critics and has a predictable "Liar Revealed" storyline but I really like the simplicity of this movie.
Frl same this movie has such an amazing storyline to just kids but to adults and parents as well. I was 4 years old when this movie came out and now I'm 21 and I rewatch it all the time on Netflix
ah yes another soul was blessed by the legendary piece of art that is OVER THE HEDGE! you love to see it :D this movie is just brilliant, I have seen it like a hundred times and never got bored, its just so unique and so much fun :D its got great music, its got heart, its got insanity, its got one of the best characters in entertainment history, THE VERMINATOR! its overall so lovable :D you just witnessed the origin of the Quicksilver scene here xD
I love this movie. Such a stacked cast, such a witty script. I have never understood why this didn't become a classic.
Loved the animal characters, loved the comedy and loved the story. I named my one cat, now the oldest cat in my household, Hammy, after Hammy, beause Hammy was my favourite and my cat had the same bounce off the walls energy. Glad you enjoyed this one 🤗
My family owns the DVD for this movie and it's one of our all-time favorite movies (or at least for me anyways). I'd definitely say it's underrated as it has standout characters whose voice actors really bring out their potential and like you said there's never a point where it feels one section goes on for too long*. As for sequels while it never received a movie sequel (apparently it was close but its box office performance wasn't deemed good enough for one) it did receive a video game sequel (which I've played).
P.S. While Hammy's caffeine induced rampage wasn't the first of its kind at least one movie has cited that scene as inspiration for their own slow down scene.
*The bit at 19:48 might qualify as one as they extended it for as long as they could for funniness.
I have great memories of this movie but not for the movie itself but the video game on the GameCube. The first level is the last act of the movie and the rest is all original and is really well done especially with co-op playing with my brother!
Hammy: doing the slow motion superspeed scene BEFORE it was cool.
Great movie lol, nice to see someone finally reacting to it. No I haven't been sprayed by a skunk but I have smelled plenty of them and it's quite foul.
To answer a early question, yes, animals that depend to heavily on human food have a host of health issues, especially ducks and geese who are fed to much bread which is high in calories and contains very little of the nutrients they need for proper growth and development. Young ducklings and gosling can actually develop a deformation of their wings from malnutrition. If you want to feed them many experts recommend cracked corn, bird seed, and halved grapes.
1. Our dogs gotten sprayed by a skunk
2. I used to call Pringle’s “Spuddie’s” like in this movie when I was little
3. We found a possum in our chicken feed barrel one time. I also thought it was dead 😅
i like this movie. it was based on a comic that was in the newspaper also called over the hedge, unsure if its still going. also yes totally predates days of future past.
So, funny skunk story. I used to live on a small hobby farm and we had a lab mix who was dumb as a box of rocks and a Chesapeake who was super intelligent and lazy. The two would work together to kill skunks. The lab would move in first and while he was being sprayed, the Chesapeake would go in for the kill and then leave the body under our back porch. It was super fun. Not only would we have a lab to bathe over and over, but we’d have to crawl under the porch to locate the dead skunk. It was great. Happened a couple of times each summer. Vinegar and peroxide work the best mixed with some dish soap. The spray is an oil, so the dish soap and peroxide life the oil out of the fur and off the skin while the vinegar mostly helps neutralize it. It still takes a few washes, but it’s the best we found.
Super reaction thanks a lot!
Finally someone react to my favorite animated movie 👍🏼
Loved this one as a kid
Ya know… I just thought about this, the general plot is fairly similar in a lot of ways to Pom Poko. I just saw that for the first time a couple of weeks ago. It’s also about wild animals who go to war with humans over the development of their forest. Both fantastic movies. I remember loving Over the Hedge as a kid.
This movie was created from the Sunday news paper's funny paper, Over the Hedge.
I haven't been sprayed, but when I was a kid, our dog was sprayed twice. She stunk really bad, had a bath in tomato juice
This was one of my favorites
Love this movie!! Yea, I agree, this movie is somewhat underrated and it shouldn't! One of reason I love this movie is because it does have moral lesson to us, the humans!!! We are one who took most of animals 's land/habits from them. This movie really does show that very well on other side(their side) of hedge! That rocket thing shoot up into the sky always get me every time!!!
I also like the movie's subtle message that urbanization getting rid of animal's habitats causes them to come eat human food, and that we shouldn't be feeding animals
I played WAY too much of the ps2 game of Over the Hedge, which I just found out not that long ago, is canonically a sequel to the movie! Super weird
My grandfather was skunked, and it he said it was just projectile vomiting. It’s not so much that the smell is bad, but just so strong it burns and makes you feel sick.
It took me a really long time to see this movie, it was in my house DVD library and I just put it off. Then 2019 I said no more and just loved it. It's funny, creative, great care was put into the voices. And I think being in a cage with a monkey would be scarier than a bear.
Recommend: A shark tale (2004)
Adam's Family (2019)
Spies in Disguise
There was a flash tv show that came out in 1990. The actor reprised his flash in the 2014 flash tv show.
WE’RE ROCKIN THE SUBURBBBBBBSSSS
Thanks for the video!! See you later!! Stay safe.😊 Happy Thanksgiving.
Yesterday was the 32nd Anniversary of PREDATOR 2.

Suburban Mom - Allison Janney
Verne - Garry Shandling
Porcupine Parents: Catherine O'Hara and Eugene Levy, of Best in Show and Schitts Creek fame.
I haven’t thought about this movie in a loooong time. I used to love this thing!
I have never been sprayed by a skunk but my dog was when I was a kid. I will never forget it. He got back in the house and everything we owned reeked for weeks
I really love over the hedge watced this is cinema during my 4th year in high school.
That raccoon sure as heck is ballsy😅
one of the cutes/funniest toons.
Went to watch this on my first date ever. I cant remember anything about the movie i just remember it being hilarious and laughing the entire movie
My grandchildren enjoy watching this movie when they come to visit me 🤪
I always thought this movie deserved a sequel. But this time the animals find their way to an even more dangerous place - The City. Think about it, ever seen football games with a squirell running across the field. That's Hammy!
I love how fun this movie is
They actually made a short about over the hedge called hammys boomerang adventure
You're not a couch potato youre a chair chip 😂
If you love hiest Movies try the Bag Guys
Hoodwinked and Futurama did the caffeine makes time slow thing before this lol
childhood favorite for me
Days of future past came out in 2014 which would mean yes this did come out first! Impressive!
Everything about this movie is amazing except for the voice acting. Almost all the voice actors feel pretty sub-par to me with their deliveries, which is really sad, because the satire is absolute gold.
I had this movie on VHS and would watch it all the time! Would also watch it all the way through just to get to the next movie that we taped after (Barbie island princess)
Skunk spray is an actual spray, not a gas like it's shown here.
9:40 "I wonder if animals who live in suburban areas are less healthy because they eat human food."
Yes if that food is loaded with sugar, salt, or fat oil.
Yes. Experiments were done as far back as the 1970's and animals, including humans, do not overeat unless they are exposed to the wrong food.
Food high in sugar, salt, or fat...So you are right.
I don’t know if you ever reacted to or watched “the book of life”, but if you haven’t, I highly recommend watching it ❤😂
So funny 😂😂
I know!!
I wish they made tons more!
My sister used to give the cat Doritos lol
There is also Hammy's Boomerang adventure
I think RJ represents the small time burglar/con artist who’s just a victim of circumstances and Vincent represents the sociopathic Gangster who takes advantage of small time crooks into doing their bidding for them.
Recommendations: Missing Link and Smallfoot
She was the first Karen character I knew as a child 😂
Please react to Justice League Flashpoint Paradox. I love when you react to Dc related movies. 😊
nice! but still waiting for Disney Pixar Cars (2006) 🙏🏼🔥🔥🔥
Check out Three Fugitives (Nick Nolte and Martin Short).
I believe William Shatner was the perfect opossum.
28:16 😂
Bonified classic
if you think megamind masterpieces underrated then you should seeing this masterpieces
