WEED!...I BALE IT!

We bale weeds and lots of them. Our recently planted field have become infested with wild mustard. I decide to get out there and cut it down! Will I burn it or will I feed it!? I also cut, rake, and bale our ditches along the roadways. They have even more weeds within them. We bale those just to keep a tidy farm, even if we can't feed that to our cattle. Good idea. We find it occasionally when we work up old fields and I think it’s seed left over in the ground from previous years and it sprouts when conditions are right. We battle it mechanically and feed it rather than burn it.

Be sure compost the waste left over at the feed site for a year before you spread that manure.

I would be afraid that the cows will spread it out throughout all your fields. You may have it everywhere next year.

Where is your hearing protection when driving open tractors?

I grew up driving tractors without hearing protection. Never had a problem with hearing. Tractors have mufflers so they're not that loud, especially older ones without turbos.
