Your Family Farmer
United States
เข้าร่วมเมื่อ 26 มี.ค. 2023
Our videos focus on the life of a small family farm. We involve our two young boys into the daily adventures of farm life. We hope our viewers are anyone interested in farming, the outdoors, machinery, and any aspect that is a family farm.
Your Family Farmer is a 175 acre organic, fourth generation farm in central MN. The farm has been in operation since 1908. It was a dairy farm since its inception, up until a couple of years ago. We are in transition of ownership of the farm and have a lot to do and change to make it our own. We will be transitioning the farm to incorporate regenerative farming practices. We would like to take our viewers along with us on our journey. Our channel will highlight activities involving our boys, including everything from teaching them about life and farming, to all of the shenanigans of being a little boy. We hope to be relatable to viewers and document the challenges of a young farmer while also maintaining a work, family, and farm life balance.

Spending Big $ On Manure!
I have found manure to buy and add to our farms soil! It turns out to be a large process to load, haul, dumb, load, haul, and spread onto our farm's fields. It took an entire weekend to make this happen, but the farm is in great need of soil building. At first, I felt over my head with everything that needed to happen to make this happen, but it may have turned out! Check out our latest episode and latest adventure here at Your Family Farmer!

Family, Fun, and Fall Tillage on the Farm
I'm glad you didn't have any problems with that end dump trailer. I've seen an end dump flop on its side. It's very scary.
Thanks for taking my s💩💩t 😂😂😂
Nice tractor! Whats the maximum amount of plows it will pull?
A 3 bottom seems to be about all I would want to pull!
please please PLEASE make sure tractor is in neutral before trying to bypass that way!!!! 1 neighbor had a 856 farmall he did that and he was never the same pretty much in a wheel chair. another neighbor did it with a ford and he is no longer here. please be careful. enjoyed the video thanks
Do you have another tractor on the farm to do weather critical work, when the machine you plan to use today does not cooperate, ie wont run?
Yes, I have another.
Keep it up ! Love watching the farm grow and what your doing to keep it all working 👍
I started driving tractors on my mates farm helping out and they was ford 40000 and 4600 and then the bigger ones good old reliable tractors and work houses
I still have the MF 1085 we got new in 1976
Was just about to write it but you beat me to it (6:42). When calves let that hi pitch yell all the cows get alerted especially mum! Keep safe!
Good job on your fence but you really should you have a fence strecher
Hard ass worker 👍 great job to see all that and that you’re able to get stuff for the farm to help it grow and work out for you and your family ! Hopefully you can keep that fence line mowed now ! When it dries out for ya 👍
Nice fence upgrade. Too bad you can’t reroute around that wet spot. It will give you trouble in the future. Good buy on the auger and brush hog. Fencing tools will pay for themselves.
I’m from Texas and we could take some of that rain from you and trade the heat and sun for a week.
Good luck planting your corn 🌽
Great video
Pretty ingenious problem-solving getting yourself unstuck there! Impressive! Hopefully your loving farm wife had a nice roast beef and potatoes supper waiting for you after all of that! 😉
Invest in a 4 wheel drive tractor ! Plus the idea the other guy said put the forks on rear for weight 👍 your doing a great job !!! Keep it up love watching videos
Thanks 👍
Good job getting that tractor out. Wet ground sure makes haying tough. Wet tires are always a bad sign but the sun and wind help a lot once you knock the hay down. We had to leave wet sections standing this year and go back to mow them at the end of July.
You should put the forks in the rear trepoint... then you have the baler weight on rear wheel... alternative twin tires... Just a tip from a small farmer...
Cow will eat anything 😊 hearing protection not bad idea !’
The mound system is the most stupid idea ever. Some college educated little puke said this will work better. I've heard of mound systems freezing up because they're not below the frost line. Last thing I heard we get hard frost here in Minnesota.
Might consider seeding pasture mix with bin-run oats as a cover. The oats will be up in weeks and provide prime summer grazing while shielding the pasture grass for next year.
Where is your hearing protection when driving open tractors?
I grew up driving tractors without hearing protection. Never had a problem with hearing. Tractors have mufflers so they're not that loud, especially older ones without turbos.
@@zcommodore How old are you
I would be afraid that the cows will spread it out throughout all your fields. You may have it everywhere next year.
Be sure compost the waste left over at the feed site for a year before you spread that manure.
Good idea. We find it occasionally when we work up old fields and I think it’s seed left over in the ground from previous years and it sprouts when conditions are right. We battle it mechanically and feed it rather than burn it.
Keep up the great videos. Really enjoy watching them and that you involve your family also. Keep them going.
how many acres do you farm???
175 Acres.
Good luck baling your hay
Nice looking hay bales
Thanks 👍
Great job raking your hay
Nice looking ford tractors
Good luck raking your hay
Great video
Do you have to disengage PTO to dump bale?
I believe the owners manual for this model recommendations shutting off the pto. I will double-check.
Need to remove the logo
As thin as that hay is you could roll three or four of your windrows together, lot less weaving with the baler then.
Normally I would, but we were expecting rain so I decided to rake single rows to get quicker drying.
As an old farmer that raised a lot of hay I would say to roll 2 or 3 of those windrows together
Normally I would, but we were expecting rain so I decided to rake single rows to get quicker drying.
That’s a very nice little Ford. Perfect for raking. We still haven’t had three dry days to allow us to start baling.
Thank you! I hope you get a break in the weather and soon!
Another great video. I can sit on a tractor all day and not get bored.
That’s a lot of mower for your Ford, but a much better choice than a haybine for getting through your hay. I run the impeller version for additional drying up here by moody Lake Superior.
I from the uk. Here are pto shaft covers don't rotate for health & safety. My question is in America, are pto covers aloud to rotate freelay? Keep organic farming!
There is no law dictating pto covers on our farm.
Dont forget to help maintain the pasture by sweeting the ground every other year with fert
I Think your old FORD needs some TLC then it will start better . My old Ford is starting on the key . Regards from germany
I will be looking to do a little TLC this fall/winter. Thank you for supporting our channel from across the pond!
Cut that green stuff and bring to your pigs . The pigs love that to eat i tell you . Regards from germany .
I added pigs to our farm this year as well! I ended up with 10 and I think they are all spoken for already.
My wife and I hand dug post holes for our entire 60 plus cross fencing and it didn’t kill us…in ground just like yours. We installed three strand high tensile electric fencing in 1987 that’s standing today. Rebuilt corners a few times. Welded up a wire unroller and post pusher for the skid steer bucket when we added pasture in 2021. Nice upgrade.
Good looking ford tractors.
Thank you!
I had no idea ford made a tractor
Ford made one of the most mass produced tractors in the world. The 8N
@kylehanks8305 huh. Guess you learn something new everyday lol
Arguably, some of the best tractors ever made were Ford.
Really enjoy your videos. Your channel is a much more accurate depiction of what a young farm family looks like compared to all the channels that have millions of dollars in green equipment around . I look forward to seeing more of your videos
Thank you! That is exactly why I started the channel. I want to let everyone know that small family farms with modest equipment are still going!
