    • @losferwords100
      @losferwords100 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Most states require purple primer to be visible so the inspector knows the joint has been properly primed just by seeing the purple. Clear primer is against code in most states but you can still use it if your work isn't going to be inspected.

    • @losferwords100

      The purple is primer. It cleans and softens the PVC prior to gluing. It's required by code so the inspector can visually see all the joints have been properly primed. That's why it's dyed purple and isn't clear like the glue. They make clear primer as well that you can use for non-inspected work. Just know that you'll fail an inspection if you use clear primer.

      We are always safe in our tunnels. Thankfully this was a pier and beam home. So we just dug a trench where the lines were. 1/4 per foot, 2.5 inches per 10'-stick of pipe, exception if un-able to achieve 1/4 per foot, 1/8th per ft is approved within certain states. Another very important aspect for those of you who hire mac-gyvers, to take the place of a qualified plumber is the fall requirements. To much fall, over and-or well over the 1/4 inch per foot, will be just as sub-standard as less than minimum 1/8th inch per foot fall. Due to toilet paper, human waste, will sit within the approx center of the sewer line, the waste water will wash around the debris, instead of carrying it, to terminate within the city sewer lateral within your city street. Waste water moving to quickly will create either same, and-or near future problems. New sewer or not, has no prevalence.

    Texas and the upc code calls for metal strapping to be okay on pvc? Check out my cast iron toilet flange replacement video. Florida full service plumber trying to document all jobs and post them. Subscribers would be great. New camera is ordered.

      Thank you! We are having ours done and it’s being replaced with 3 in ABS but our old one was cast iron was 4 in and we wondered about it. Our plumber said it’s better flow in a 3-in sewer with solids than a 4 inch line. also raised the end of the line, which gives it more fall than the existing 4 inch pipe.
      Each 3 inch Branch line will tie into the 4-in main independently. You can run a whole house with three bathrooms off of a 3-inch line. It is a better design plan. We just wanted to research it ourselves as well so we are informed

    We in Germany use HT pipes( with rubber seals) for sewer installation. Is this not common in US?

      Was ist HT? Das graue Kunststoff mit eingebauten Dichtungen?
      No, those are absolutely NOT used here in the US. Nothing with integral joints. All slip-fit plastic pipe with glue [aka: 'welded' per Universal Plumbing Code] fittings. Comes in white PVC and black ABS. Thicker walls than German pipes and quite rigid by comparison. [PVC=polyvinyl chloride; ABS= acrylic butyl styrene] Not better; just different.
      Also, the toilet drains here come out the bottom of the toilet, not the rear.

    Never ask a plumber to borrow his knife peel an apple.
