People are so Lucky that Jake posted this and didn't even charge for it. What a nice guy. I have taken all of his courses and highly recommend all of them. Thanks Jake.
I appreciate your passion to share you content. You are an excellent ‘facilitator’ of tips and tricks. I really like your teaching style. I’m glad I happened upon you site! EXCELLENT!
Very useful reference, thanks. I came here (total beginner) when I realised there might need to be different fingerings once there are more black keys. So far as I can tell, these are the ones that have same fingering as C Major in both hands: G Major : G, A, B, C, D, E, F#, G (1 sharp) D Major : D, E, F#, G, A, B, C#, D (2 sharps) A Major : A, B, C#, D, E, F#, G#, A (3 sharps) E Major : E, F#, G#, A, B, C#, D#, E. (4 sharps) ...so these are probably the ones to learn first? I'm currently re-wiring my brain so I can play with both hands together. 🤯
Indeed! Those 5 scales (including C) all use the same fingering so it is nice to get those all down together. Don't avoid the others though :) even though they have more black keys, they often aren't actually harder to physically play
Nice and didactic video Nate! Even Knowing the scales and digitation I don't recognize so easily the triads for all the Keys, mow I am working on that, applying the diatonic secuence to each Key so that I can have the triads on my finger tip. Thanks Nate !
I am sincerely hoping that this will be a huge help to me in learning all the scales! THANK YOU SO MUCH!!!!! I have also been wanting to ask if sometime you would do a video with the chords for the movie theme; LAURA by David Raksin from 1944. Again, Thank You!
Hi I just found your channel. This is super cool and helpful. I took classes as a kid and then a basic intro class in college. I was wondering if you could do Desperado by the eagles if you haven’t already
Hey! I will think about how to make a succinct youtube video that's an introduction to this topic. My strategy for transposing is one of the main topics of my new course Keys to Chord Progressions, and I teach it over the course of a few video lessons.
You don't have to learn everything at once! Start with just a one or two scales, and in the meantime keep learning easy songs you enjoy. It will all come into focus :)
Definitely! If you get to know all these scales and the triads in tonality, you'll be in good shape to work out I IV and V in each key. If you want to go deeper, this might be a good fit: www.pianowithnate.com/keys-to-chord-progressions
