    His mom was a basketball coach and gave him tips and excercises to prevent long term injury (not to mention his dad was a long jump track star!). He was raised right, but one thing I LOVE about Wemby is that he doesn't take it for granted. He said "I was raised in a good family, all these things were given to me, so my only option is to make the most of it. If I CAN be the best, I MUST be the best."

    When he was younger, he played soccer as a goalkeeper, so both arms are very fast and accurate despite their lengh... plus his ball trajectory reading is great. Add this to his wingspan : you have a guy who will dominate in blocks like nobody did. Everything he did since he is a kid was done to be a great BB player one day...

    Its unbelievable that people thought he'd be a bust, even if he has a horrible offensive night which is extremely rare he constantly plays top notch defense, he's preforming better in the NBA than he did in the french league, he's going to be a problem next year when his 3PT shot is more refined and he finds a go-to source of scoring, points of emphasis this offseason should be improving his jumper and building up core strength I don't know how he gets better defensively honestly.

    • @barryg.5224
      @barryg.5224 4 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      Fans are traumatized, they've seen/heard about so many 'unicorn' players that didn't pan out, that were busts. I don't think it was anything against Wemby personally, but for long-time NBA fans, we've heard all of the same hype before, dozens & dozens of times. Just makes you, at best, take everything with a healing tablespoon of salt, & yeah, at worst, people just think it's probably too good to be true, again, like it has all too often in the past.

I think the answer would still be Wemby. But it would be *much* closer than a normal draft where you try to evaluate a player's floor and ceiling over several years.

    Thinking that anyone other than Wemby is DPOY is insane. I don't think we've seen a defender be feared like him in a long time. If yhey see him in the paint or slide over they immediately pass it away where against most bigs they would still attempt to take it up; even Rudy gobert isnt really feared anymore, dunkers try to and succeed with posterizing him all the time

    wemby has a potential to be the goat of basketball. one bad thing though, he is not american, so starting from his rookie years the nba and san antonio spurs is dragging him down by not making him the man of their team. he rarely get passed on by his team mates and he rarely able to hold the ball during their possessions. perks of not being an american.

      @@HoopEnthusiasts I don't think so, because we're talking about an all time draft, not an all time career, and here's why : Wembanyama will be, in my opinion a one (perhaps two, like Jordan, at the end of his career) franchise guy, like a Duncan or a Robinson (Kobe, Magic ...). That's why it makes him a better choice for a franchise than Lebron, if he can stay healthy and if the Spurs can maintain themselves as a high level organisation.

    1. You don't go soft like these Raptors front court players against a shot blocker. You have to attack the rim. 2. Wemby will be great until the eventual leg injury derails his career.
