Young Scholars Analyse China's Politics, Economy And The Military On SNG Roundtable

  • In Stratnewsglobal’s Roundtable series, three young scholars with distinct specialisations on China, analysed and answered questions on a range of issues. Anushka Saxena, a research analyst at the Takshashila Institution in Bengaluru, says that Beijing’s perception of its foreign and domestic situation has darkened.
Xi Jinping himself is warning of “significant challenges”, she pointed out, of “changes unforseen in a century” and that “opportunities for development are concurrent with great risks and challenges.”
In other words, China’s drive to boost domestic consumption and rely less on exports is not happening smoothly. The environment in the South China Sea has become hostile, and the path to technological and scientific progress is being impeded by outside forces.
The anti-corruption campaign has ensnared officials across government departments including the PLA. But the one point which stands out is Xi Jinping’s iron control over the ship of state.
Amit Kumar, also of the Takshashila Institution, focused on the Chinese economy. He argues that the global economic slowdown has impacted on China’s heavily export-oriented industrial base, add to that growing centralization with power being taken away from local authorities and the securitization of development.
Government’s crackdown on the real estate sector has compounded the problem since it contributed from 25% to 33% of GDP. This was done because the authorities wanted to direct capital away from speculative real estate transactions towards the innovation economy.
Suyash Desai who studies China’s PLA from his base in Taiwan, is working on his Mandarin language while also writing a newsletter called the PLA Bulletin. He talked about China’s efforts to intimidate Taiwan through aggressive manoeuvres at sea.
In his view, China is in no position at least for a decade, to be able to mount an invasion of the island. It lacks the capacity in terms of amphibious capability and there’s no telling how things could go if the US intervenes in support of Taiwan.
Tune in for more in this conversation with three young China scholars.

As Chinese myself, I have not seen we Chinese gather together like this talk and discuss about India. We don't even care about what happened to India.
But why is India so concerned about China's affairs whereby India has more problems than China. We are not perfect but we are doing much better than India as everyone can see our developments compared to India.
It is not only these people who are talking about China. Not a day I don't see in Indian media reporting about China. All the propaganda, fake and negative news from WION, Hindustan Times, Firstpost, WION, TOI and many more are reporting about China and to bash and smear China. What have they gains for doing that? I can only guess 1 reason. Too jealous, upset and frustrating to see China is way ahead and they are still far to catch up.

Indian corporates are sold out on Chinese achievement and so they are least bothered about diversification of their Indian supply chain to improve Indian domestic production. They are focused into gains whether in 5 to 10 years from now and getting their geNext to continue either in India or abroad like if a company in China offers a product at 10 Paise( one rupee is 100 paise) including all logistics until their factory in India, they have not second thoughts about switching over to Chinese production. Indian government is trying to create awareness by being nationalistic to diversify their supply chain due to aftermath of Galway 2020 incident , stapled VISA to Arunachal citizen thus preventing Indians from North East to represent Indian in any global event that happens in any Chinese cities and due to economic woes in neighbourhood like Sri Lanka, Pakistan, Nepal, Bangladesh, Burma due to expensive Chinese loans and predatory Chinese foreign policy to leverage these country's economy to dominate these countries independent political and foreign policy. Indian economy is slowly booming which has penetrated hardly 10% of the 1.5 billion populace. As rest of the populace is slowly opening up their consciousness. Instead of Indian populace to become full depended on Chinese product, India government is try hard to become more independent from Chinese influence in ever sphere.

This is a self-contradictory comment. I'm seeing a whole lot of (presumably) Chinese people commenting on Indian videos about how Chinese people don't care about Indian videos 🤷‍♂
They're not particularly great videos (edit: excepting this channel, which is usually good, though this video could have flowed better). Some of the news here is admittedly pretty hysterical but that's the standard for Indian news, you should see how the media covers _Indian_ issues.
Problem's that China is a rising power with an aggressive foreign posture, which includes salami slicing on its neighbours' territory. This has to be dealt with. If you can't see that, you know where the door is.

If they spend as much time and energy on India, India will be a great place.
For the Indian readers who want to respond, I can tell you the China side is too busy to worry about India. They are doing trades and building infrastructures, not just at home, but around the world, especially in the Global South countries.

The Global Majority already understands and knows what Chinese led developments have done to their own country within their last 40 years journey and the rest of the world through their non-intrusive sharing models. Harping on about the Chinese province of Taiwan and her other autonomous regions is none of India's business.

And as long as India can't solve the border problem, India can't never commit itself into the economic development, since the borderline is too close to the capital of India not vise versa. So the Chinese can destabilize the India very easy with some some border conflicts. Remember the following words by a wise man...

    3. Nepal: 69
    4. Bangladesh: 81
    4. Pakistan: 102
    5. India: 111
India has a sever hunger problem. Fix your problems before pointing fingers at others. Also India and Nepal must peacefully work for the return of Bihari migrants from Terai, Nepal to India which is their rightful home. These Bihari should be proud of being Indians.
These folks mass migrated into Terai, Nepal during the great famines of India like in Bihar, UP, Madras, Bay of Bengal and so on taking advantage of open borders. Its been Nepal biggest headaches since their arrival. In fact the only headache. Only indigenous "Tharu" are native in Terai, Nepal with their own distinct culture.
Indians should act on it before Nepalese hate against them goes full blown. Indians doesn't know Indians are not native to Nepal and have maintained sovereignty before there was India as a nation. Even the British couldn't colonize them.

For every Indian that is in the west, There are 5 chinese. Good luck living in your delusional land and speaking to your echo chamber. Reality is given the chance 90% of the chinese population will migrate to the west. They are only in china because of fear of winnie the pooh.
