Mario managed to trick King Koopa to break through the bricks under him and to his doom, but was not quick enough to get out from underneath the Koopa. Princess Toadstool and the Mushroom Kingdom are saved but Mario paid the ultimate price. Things will never be the same, especially for Luigi.
