    These comments are so god damn condescending. The kid chose what was best for him. Guess what you don’t need to go the Ivy League to get a stellar education. These colleges are 80-90k+ for upper middle class (trust me I’ve experienced it). It’s simply not worth it. As a more head Cain scholar he’s gonna get so many benefits. Leave the kid alone and congratulate him. Go Tarheels!!

      @@marshabrightly1307 that’s very privileged of you to say. But I’m sorry for not wanting to go into 200k + interest dollars of debt to get an education I can get at my public state school. Surely Yale offers amazing opportunities but a real successful Ivy League student would know that the opportunity cost of an Ivy League education is simply not worth it.

    As someone who went to Yale, I completely understand not wanting to go into 100000+ debt. You will get just as good or better education at another school, especially with the full ride scholarhship.

    i think it's really cool you chose the tuition free option. i am extremely lucky & also got tuition free and have graduated with no debt... it's a huge advantage in life. everyone is commenting about the "advantage" of an ivy league name, but no one has throughly mentioned all the benefits of graduating debt free. being able to apply with a good application for a home or car loan being the biggest. also having enough to save for grad school, which could honestly be more beneficial for your career than undergrad. erasing the stress of monthly college loan payments alone is enough to make me inclined to choose the tuition free option every time.

    You know you could appeal your financial aid at Yale? You could tell them you got full rides elsewhere and would love the come to Yale but hindered by finances-they have large endowment and could easily increase your aid! I hope the decision was worth it. But I would not likely choose UNC over Yale!

    • @MrBjorn6
      @MrBjorn6 2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      What is there to appeal? Yale isn't offering what this program is, nevermind it's a full-ride. Anyone who gets into this program would take it over getting into a program at Ivy. Look up it up and learn about the program.

    • @oanochie
      @oanochie 2 ปีที่แล้ว +8

      @@MrBjorn6 I’ve read about it. Yale offers far better potential. Going to an Ivy like Yale on full scholarship will open more doors for him than UNC. He’ll be able to start work with over 150K-200K salary working at an investment bank or Consulting firm with only a bachelors degree. These lucrative job offers are highly selective and mostly given to Yale, Harvard, and Stanford graduates. The alumni network at Yale is far superior than UNC. You should read the book The Meritocracy Trap by Daniel Markovits, a Yale professor who came from humble beginnings as he enlightens you on why the rich push their children into Ivy leagues and the unending benefits that follow their offspring. This guy was ill advised. He took the fancy dangling carrot but neglected the house of gold behind it.

For the average household, schools like Harvard and Yale are free of charge. Even for my university, nearly half the students are receiving financial aid. In addition, the academic resources, networking, and opportunities given cannot be undermined. Students at UNC will find it almost impossible to break into IB or land FAANG...

      @@waterbottle19383 I would rather be in debt for the rest of my life and have the honor and distinction of wearing a sweater with an Ivy League school on it or Vanderbilt or Duke than an eh, whatever school like UNC. No only are your job and internship opportunities more limited but people will assume you’re not as smart as a Vandy/Duke/Ivy kid and that will have adverse effects socially. I paid 80K a year to send my son to one of those truly elite schools you rejected and he’s earning 150K per year first year out of college.
