      +Nathan Pattison Some women aren't ready to have babies. No reason to shame them for not being ready to go through this long, difficult process.

      +Nathan Pattison The human population is going to hit 9 billion this century (assuming all goes well, and hopefully it will peak there).

    • @spindash64
      @spindash64 9 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      +Emily Ericson I'm not shaming them, I'm shaming us for telling them it's ok to murder another human being just because that human being can't speak for his or herself. I feel anger, yes, but I don't hate anyone. A person's a person, no matter how small

    • @wehavnoidea
      @wehavnoidea 9 ปีที่แล้ว +25

      +spindash64 We have never been told that it's okay. Women are mocked, shamed, and humiliated for simply not being at a point in their life where they are able to give birth to a baby. And by that logic, the millions of eggs inside my body right now are already people. A zygote is a zygote, not a person. Of course it's not an easy decision, but it's a decision that women should have the right to make.

    • @wehavnoidea
      @wehavnoidea 9 ปีที่แล้ว +14

      +Nathan Pattison I'm sorry, but would you, as a man, be willing to put your life on hold for nine months for a child that you don't even want? To experience all of the horrible symptoms told about in the above video, to have to switch your entire life around? No. You wouldn't. What you have to say about what a woman does with her body does not matter, because you are not a woman. Just like you can't force a person to donate blood or organs against their will, you most certainly can't force a woman to go through this life altering experience because you believe a fertilized egg is a person.

      It's not exactly temporary pain. Being a parent offers a lot of wear-and-tear on the body, especially when the child is in infancy. There's a lot of isometric-like exercise going on with constantly lifting and carrying someone that goes from ~5-9lbs to ~12-16lbs in just six months.

    It sounds like the fetus and the mother are having a pleasant biochemical conversation but consider this: the fetus can make a special kind of hemoglobin that has a higher affinity for oxygen than adult hemoglobin, which means that the fetus is pretty much wrenching oxygen away from the mother's hemoglobin. Still, the reason it evolved is because it works. Go biology!

Sometimes this course is down right tough, confusing, and hard to understand. Thank you for helping me make my light build came on! Those realization moments have happened many times Crash Course. I watch the videos after I have read the textbook because the host talks extremely quick and uses big words that are going to be used to explain steps in physiological processes. I guess that's why they called A&P. My thanks and best wishes go out to you.

    These videos have been very helpful for me! However, maybe you can add to it by doing something about preventative birth control and contraception? Maybe about the different options available and how to prevent unwanted pregnancies as well as std prevention and how it works? I think that would really complete the sex education you have going on here.

    Sorry to call you out, CrashCourse, and I know this from personal experience helping my lovely wife through delivery, the baby doesn't come out smoothly with an adorable "ShooooooOOOOOOP!" sound, though I very much wish it had. Also, I feel for that animated new mommy. That animated baby's head was MASSIVE!

      My baby literally slipped out after the nurse told me to do two practice pushes. On the 2nd push, my baby's head started crowning. While they tried to get my OB in the room for delivery, Baby just slipped right out even though I was trying to keep her from coming out because they told me they weren't allowed to deliver w/o a doctor present.

      Pregnancy is fun in the 3rd trimester. Getting past the 1st trimester is the most difficult. Just know that when people say 'contractions', that means that you will receive a pain exactly like your period cramps, only more intense.

      +LiwenDiamond not in developed countries; tell that to the 3rd world

    • @liwendiamond9223
      @liwendiamond9223 9 ปีที่แล้ว +11

      RoScFan Actually in a strictly environmental safeguarding sense, 1 developed country human is SO MUCH WORSE than like 20+ something humans in a 3rd world country that the 3rd world can make as many babies as it wants, I don't really care. The sad reality is that most of them won't live long enough to impact the environment meaningfully.
      They don't own cars or consume tons of cheap plastic products every year. Most of the pollution they produce is in the CO2 they exhale and the organic waste they shit, and both of those thing are recycled into useful stuff by nature. They DO consume a lot of food, but all the develop countries together waste like 5 times as much as what the 3rd world eats.
      Having a baby in the developed world is really bad. It obligates you to have a car, because otherwise you don't have the time to make enough money to support everyone AND take care of the kid(s), The kid itself will "need" a bunch of toys, diapers, clothing, a room of his or her own, and ultimately he or she is likely to grow up into a ruthless business man that runs a profitable industry, but further pollutes the world. By 3rd world standards, we live like kings, and consume much more than what we actually need.

      @-._.-KRiS-._.- 5 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      @@liwendiamond9223 Having a baby in the developed world doesn't have to be as problematic as you are claiming it to be.
      Use glassware to store food instead of plastics. Use the city bus. Stay home to raise the child on one income because it's doable if you budget properly, plus, it's 2019 and there are remote online jobs and/or freelancing jobs the stay-at-home parent can do to add income to the household. I'd imagine remote online jobs and freelancing existed in 2016 when you made your post.
      Use empty toilet paper rolls, wooden spoons, Christmas tinsel, everyday objects, _your_ old stuffed animal from childhood, as toys. Buy used toys or receive hand-me-downs. Use the public library for books, music, movies, iPads, laptops, free early development classes, etc. Use cloth diapers. Make your own laundry/dish soap. Have a safe, flat, hard surface the baby can sleep on and not fall off of. Make your own baby food from the fruits, vegetables, meats, and grains that you buy for yourself. Buy used baby clothing or receive hand-me-downs.
      Pretty much the only thing you might want brand new for a baby is a car seat because it is the law that a baby is in a car seat currently within regulations that has never been in an accident. You can't leave the hospital if you don't have a car seat that your infant can fit into. If your infant can't fit into the car seat you have, you _have_ to find a new one before you get to go home.
      Use the living room as the baby's room for the first 13 months-10 years if you live in a 1-bedroom. As the child reaches puberty, however, it's customary in America to allow that child to have their own private space. I don't see why this is a negative thing, to allow their own room; I don't see what's wrong with upgrading from a 1-bedroom to a 2-bedroom place.
      Business people of the future will likely not be as interested in the lack of regulations that currently govern modern business practices if what Millenials and Gen Z are saying now is anything to go off of. But, seriously, you give too much credit to the business world as being the desirable, profitable industry to go into. Computer science, specifically coding and programming, is where the money is at right now. So that's where the economy is headed.
