I was searching for an explanation video like this years ago, then only today I decided to listen to the avarice boss theme so I said, "gee I wonder if someone has finally done a lore video for this that game yet.". and sure enough you completed it just a week in time, any later and I wouldn't have given up for years again. Needless to say, good job.
I could have swore I saw a lore video years ago, but I can't find it at all. Maybe it was a fever dream, who knows?
Also, it's worth mentioning that I got some things wrong, so keep an eye out for the correction video. Should be out by next week, assuming I don't get too distracted

Small addition: truth 's design and the whole all is truth is a full metal alchemist manga/ Brotherhood reference
Truth is one of the names of God in full metal alchemist, that is described with the motto all is one, one is all. God is the universe, the world and you.
Truth is also fought in a white void, much like how truth's realm in full metal alchemist is white

Looking forward to your video of Death's door, as it seems there are several pieces of lore directly linking those 2 games (ie the corrupted seed for example).
I recommend you get the true ending if you're interested in the lore. There is definitely more than what it wears on it's sleeve, though.

@@vonwoolf9963 ah, I suppose. I tried to explain everything as well as I could with this video, but I guess playing the game gives you more insight.
The price of the arrow is pretty simple. You literally split your soul in two and imbue half of it in the arrow. You paid half your soul.
Yeah, that's pretty obvious in hindsight, I don't know why I thought otherwise
Just got 100% on DD and had no idea what the true ending was talking about at all and your videos explained it the best- I didn't even know it was a sequel before I clicked on your other video lol. Thanks for making it all so easy to understand, I really appreciate it! Btw Onyxia shows up in DD! Just as a skeleton tho in the camp of the free crows area where you slide around on the ice. I was wondering what was up with the huge skeleton and when you explained Onyxia in this video; I saw the ice circles and it clicked.
So all the bosses that show up in any way in DD from TS are: vinethesis (1st boss in DD), the yeti (Betty in DD), avarice, onyxia (as a skeleton in the camp of the free crows), Elhanan (Frog King has his armor on and arrowhead from one of Elhanan's arrows behind his boss arena), and Truth. I feel like the old crow's boss fight is definitely supposed to make you think of the Truth boss fight from TS- they're pretty similar in a lot of ways. Also, the black knight recurring mini boss; spell upgrade bosses; and guardian of the door are all more technologcially advanced golems. I love to nerd out and get super in depth when I find a game I like and your videos made that possible so I really can't thank you enough- definitely one of my favorite games now that I know the whole story

One bit of critique would be that at a few points throughout, your voice gets drowned out by the music and your words become difficult to distinguish.
Additionally, you could incorporate subtitles - both to make sure this issue does not come up again an also to make the video easier to digest.
Regardless, I'm glad someone else did all the work for me and put up a lore video so I can just nod my head in agreement. Good work!

I can't believe nobody talks about this game im gonna cry
so how the titans work to my understanding is that they are built out of not living material and then a hole in their structure is filled with a soul created through some means,and then,they live,but things like golems might require more power to animate,explaining the multiple souls seen at a boss's death
Not necessarily. The golems were built, yes, but Yeti, Vinethesis, Obello, Elhanan, and maybe even Onyxia were all alive, they're just far more powerful because they were infused with souls. A Titan is a being with many souls, also known as a demonic being in Death's Door. Avarice is literally just a chest that was inhabited by soul, there was no intent there, nor any intentional "hole" to fill with soul. The arrow you use is even full of your own soul, so it's really just some object infused with too much soul. All Titans have a ton of souls, that's how they're Titans.

Your right about the kabalistic aspect, the place where all souls or נשמה come from and go back to is called the כסא הכבוד (the name of gods throne) every נשמה is a piece of god (witch helps the truth creating the soul
3:30 um technically it changes from "truth" to "dead" not "death". Had to nitpick lol. great video so far tho and I came here to get ready for the death's door one.

I am, yeah, there's just a lot more to go through in Death's Door. I want a single super comprehensive video, so I'm slowly combing through the game, trying to get every little piece of dialogue. No ETA just yet, but it is being worked on.

So,its all à story of god making people and their souls residing inside golems after their death,the Word soul probably being written on themselves,instead of truth.
There's not literally a word written on them, but they're animated by Truth in that Truth gave them their soul

In judaism the golem was created by putting gods true name in its mouth that is what gave them life
I was going based off of "Golem" by David Wisniewski where they literally write a word that translates to "Truth" on the Golem's forehead, so I suppose it changes based on your source. Writing "Truth" fits better narratively, anyway

Yeah, I'm working on it. There's so much more to Death's Door, and I want to make one comprehensive video, so I'm going through and trying to comb out all the dialogue so ai don't forget anything. It'll take a while, but It's coming.

So if adam is the hero that fights titans, then, what is soul? Why does adam have to face himself and how?
Adam was the first being to die, so their will was imparted into the soul, as they fused with Truth at the end of the game. Or they forcibly fused with the soul like Truth. They then took the Elder's position and became the second god, tried to overthrow Truth, Truth reincarnated Adam or something similar because Adam couldn't die "I am you, you are I, if either lives, neither can die," so the soul that you fight at the end of the game isn't Adam per se, just a version of the soul that appears to be them because of how Adam ended up in their current situation.
Also, it's worth mentioning that their name isn't necessarily Adam and they are intentionally not gendered in the games because they're supposed to act as a self-insert.

I'm sorry, there's something I'm not understanding, excuse me if it was explained in the video. Why does the Titan Soul look like you and has a human body as part of it? Why does it use an arrow, same as you?
Because it is you. Adam was the Soul after their time as a mortal, another name for life, but Truth kicked him out and controlled the soul itself because Adam was planning a coup. The Soul retained the shape, and Adam retained a piece of the Soul, so they can control each other's arrows, because the arrows are controlled by soul.

This is what happens when you get doctrine from false Bible versions. Stick with the KJV.
I talked about this. Extensively. It says Elhanan slew the brother of Goliath, but it also says Elhanan slew Goliath. "The brother of" and the name of the supposed brother, Lahmi, is theorized by many scholars to have been added later on to address the contradiction. I don't remember if I mentioned it in the video, but the name is even close to the Hebrew name for Bethlemite, which is where the name probably came from.
