Songs like this just touch your heart over and over and take you back to the early 70s when things seemed just easier, breezier and simpler. Summers were about having fun: hopscotch, skipping, marbles, riding my bike, swimming, hide and go seek, the ice cream truck, sunburns, and badminton!
I was 11 when this song came out in August of 1972. This song brings back great memories of the carefree summer days of the early 70's. Such a great time to grow up.
1972...my Graduateing class in High School, yes it was one of The GOOD TIMES to grow up. Music was very enjoyable. My now 80 year old Mom would enjoy most of what us 4 kids liked then, & still sometimes now she listens. We were singing just a few weeks ago...3 Dog Night's...Joy To The World...(Jeriehmia was a Bullfrog, was a good friend of mine...).
Great White Music! Absolutely the best for High School Reunions, elevators, grocery stores, doctor's offices, amateur night karaoke & wedding dances! Summer breeze is the BEST!.......... 100 thumbs up man!
Beauty, you hit the nail on the head when you said that children of this generation won't be able at to look back at our age and remember anything better than the no-talent artists of today.
Old Skool hits bring back so many memories...I'm so glad I grew up listening to the original hits thanks to my mother...now when I hear a new skool track I can easily hear the sample from the original hit...Music Is Beautiful : )
I agree, I was 11 when this song came out. I remember that summer like it was yesterday, Everyone would go to the City Park on Sundays, back then at such an early age, and a different time in life, everything seemed so innocent and carefree. This song will always take me back to that time in my life.
I listen to all these Great oldies and remember the good times we all had then. I'm sure the kids of today have no clue the easy good times of life we had and all the fun in these times, I remember going swimming at midnight on the warm summer night at a local pool, jumping the fence and just having fun. Not like today with all the drugs and violence, so much evil on the streets today and i believe the music of these days promotes it!!
I remember when I heard this song for the first time. It was the summer of 1973, and I was ten years old. It was a sweet, wonderful summer. I felt alive, happy, and free. I don't know why it was such a special summer - it simply was. In my mind, this song is forever associated with that incredible summer and the indelible memories I still have of it. I think the line 'blowing in the jasmine in my mind' from the song really expresses how that summer of '73 really felt to me.
I was eigth years old, attending elementary school at a private Catholic school in Mexico City, when I first heard this song. I love it! I am 46 yeras old now, and I continue to love it. God bless "America."
WOW!!!! Blast from the past......I was maybe 8 years old at the county fair. It was the first time I was tall enough to ride the "Round up"...this song was playing full blast on the radio.......I can still smell the hay and grass fields....and the stickers in our feet/shoes!
I worked at the Western Michigan University DPS from '74-'79, they came for a concert @ Reid Fieldhouse in '74 and I had to listen to them and get time and a half. They put on an excellent concert!
My cousin is working on a farm run by the church this band promotes and I know will see him again. Grateful some churches know it is important to grow food instead of drugs.
I dedicate this to all the Jasmine's of the world, like me, what a groovy way to honor your name flowing on the summer breeze in his mind. 72, my first year of high school, oh what a good year.
named my daughter jasmine due to the love of this song and the summer of the mid 70's.....wish there was a time machine to go back in time for a weekend :))
I hear you. You know some Good ole Seals and Croft is good for the soul. One of the best MMF/WWB , Pop, Soul, close to Funk, Disco maybe, Rock 'n' Roll Trios of all time. Their voices with Carolyn Wills too!? My, what a song bird. That was a Trio now.
You got that right Jonathan. Although I wasn't 18 in '72 either, more like 8 but this was a cool song from the very beginning. Keep that open mind and you'll go far in life broth'a. Thanks for your respect to the '70's.
Yes, the music was so good. I was young then when all that music was brand new- you went out and bought a vinyl LP for $4.50. Amazing. We were the young ones, with long hair... But don't forget friend- it all passes away... all of it. Just like your life will pass, faster than you can know. Find that still point in your heart. That place that NEVER changes. Eternal. The place from where all life springs. You're were you need to be. Listen to it all, be here now. Don't miss it.
I have thirty years on you and your opinion abt the times and people is so true. It is truely refreshing to read your post it speaks well of your charactor as a man, I'm very sure your dad has been smiling all along...
One of the best songs ever ! The epitome of “feel good” music. I can still hear the song in my mind as if it was still playing in Huntington Beach in the early seventies .
I love this song!!! The music and voices are so comforting, but also freeing at the same time. Dash is a nice man, talented musician, and doing fine. Jim Seals voice is so cool. All of his kids are in the music industry of some sort. Their whole family from wives, brothers, children, etc...are music geniuses.
Reminds me of getting produce from the farmers market down the street from my home when I was little. First time I ever heard this song, it was playing over their loud speaker when I was about 4. Loved them ever since. I’m 22 now, and I have all of their albums.
You are right, I think many of us remember through the eyes of a child. I loved the 70s and yet in retrospect, I can remember the stress my parents lived through, as you said, during the societal upheaval/push for equality/Vietnam war, etc. Like an old Twilight Zone episode about as an adult, we wish for simpler times which we imagine were our childhoods, but it was because our parents did a good job sheltering us from the harshness of the world at that time.
Wow listening to all you talk about the seventies makes me wish even more that i was around then when the music was better and times were simpler i'm 18 now but i wish i could have been 18 then. bands like this just had a way of making music that could touch the very core of your being.
I was only 6 years old when this song came out. My older brother taught me how to fish at Broad Brook pond..such happy simple times but my brother Mickey was tragically killed on valentines day in a hit and run accident..i am so thankful to have had an older brother such as him
I recall this song very well. I was in America at that time and summer was unduly warm and suddenly a breeze started blowing and made me feel better. Nice song.
Yes I had their records when I was younger and it was after I became a Baha'i that I found out some of the lyrics in their songs were from the Baha'i writings. Great to listen to!
makes me think of being a very small girl, in the garage with dad while he worked on some project and he listened to this song a lot. Brings back good memories, same with Fleetwood Mac
Childhood was a great memory...I too remember, how you had to have talent to make music like this. It was great to hear and sing songs that had melody, clarity and meaning...memories can last forever...it's sad to think when kids today reach 40+, they can look back and say how great bieber, beyonce, etc was. SAD
superb harmony vocals, catchy melody, great lyric, great performance.....and all before the days of autotune....talent....what a concept....and these guys paid their dues with various bands for years before they became famous as Seals and Crofts(does anyone remember "Tequila" by the Champs?)...now you make a vid on TH-cam and your the next big thing...kaff, Bieber, kaff....ugh! Makes me glad I grew up listening to Seals &Crofts during my teen years....
i truly wish i was around during these times i mean im 21 now and i was raised on this type of music that my father listened to it it may touch the hearts of you who grew up with it but even tho this type of music makes me miss my father and my family so much and the days when life was so much simpler and people weren't such douche bags
Enjoy like you when I hear these songs that remind me of my youth, there is a thought that says "remember is to live again." Thanks for creating this band so emotional and beautiful songs!

Charles Bewildered is one of the best preachers for this faith and he was very loving to his mother.
RIP Jimmy Seals. The music of my youth.

This song is sooo beautiful! The chorus is timeless, and the harmonies are gorgeous!
Great White Music!

One of my all time favorite songs. Never tire of hearing this. Thanks.
I'm 51 and LOVE this song! Shoudn't life be like this. We make things way to complicated. Just love each other and do the right thing. Pretty simple.
I was only born in June 2010 and I am enjoying this experience. Truly great harmony.
Born in '61. This was it , memories. When life was good.

This brings back so many good memories of the 70s. People long gone. I would love to go back and spend some time with them again.

this is one of those songs that instantly throws you back to the time you listened to it over and over...
What it was like to grow up in those days. I wish i did. Thanks dad for showing me what music is!!

I grew up listening to the music of the '70s and love Seals, and Crofts, but also like the Isley Brothers' cover...it's all good....Peace Lady L.
Fantastic song , back in the great 70's , good quality music for sure !
Seal and Croft sealed the deal .....fantastic duo beyond any doubt in my mind , loved them thru and thru .

While groups like 3 Dog Night were bigger than Seals & Crofts, this will ALWAYS be my summer time song. I was 12 when this song came out in 1972.
great 70's memory!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Always reminds me of Dazed and Confused. Used to get a lot more air time on the radio. Miss old school music. TRU music.
Good ole Seals and Croft. They lulled my to sleep as a very young child. I care for their harmony.
You got that right Jonathan. Although I wasn't 18 in '72 either, more like 8 but this was a cool song from the very beginning.
