Great video! You can really see the difference between jumping and dressage in riders and horses. I loved the commentary as well.
Hi Julia, I really enjoy your videos. One thing I noticed is that the volume levels vary wildly within your videos, which can be very painful to listen to and requires loads of sudden volume adjustments. Would that possibly be something you can look at when editing? :)

It is called a three-ring bit :)
I use it too for my horse.
You should train more in a normal to mild bit instead of something stronger. Maybe get a good trainer to teach you specific exercise that help with this issue.

it was my first time running that horse through a medium test so I was a bit pre-occupied ! x

I only know where X is because my coach makes us change our diagnols there.
this isn't a figure 8, its just a flash. but most horses wear figure 8's as it allows more air flow and stops them crossing their jaw :)

weird.. the showjumper sits better on the horse than the dressage rider😅 (even on the partners horse) but good job from both riders and really nice horses!
maybe, but you don't see Julia doing sitting on my horse Ella... where as at the level I am with her, sitting is required.

heyy im a bit worried about the halters clip not being clipped up because it could swing and hit the horses eye and it just worries me a bit, I'm not trying to send ay hate I'm just a bit worried if the horse is like that for a decent amount of time.

once you start having your own horse etc, you tend not to untack, lead etc all formally
it’s not really a compulsory rule, it’s a weird rule that was made up for some old fashioned reason, it doesn’t affect the horses if you do stuff from the other side

@@harrietbachanowicz3273 Its bc soldiers Had swords and if they mounted from the right side They would stab themselves or their horses. So its Respectful to mount from the left side and people always tack up and untack from the left Side bc its supposed to get your horses used to something. I think its supposed to help them learn more easily with other things.

actually I had very little control of Cleck! and a mistake I often find jumping my dressage horse is that I try for too much control rather than letting her find her own strides! Julia rode him 100% better than me x
Sara Schenk my trainer has found that a lot of Jumpers get the basics of dressage then automatically move up to Jumping.

aha I jump rarely but ive been riding since birth and did a fair bit of PC and hunting when younger so I'm not completely hopeless lol
@@millydressage1091 It shows, your technique was very good for someone who doesntr currently compete jumping. I do Hope your Jumper friend can learn that her jumpers should be as light as your dressage horses. "Between every jump is dressage" The lighter your aids, the more responsive the horse, the more can be asked of them.
Also why do I find it so wrong that a high level showjumper does not know the basics of dressage?
She learnt to ride in UE - she has more dressage lessons than I do ! Has lessons every week but works on other things than where the markers are and running through tests :) x
I sometimes regret not going hartpury because other vlogs showed snobby rich girls unlike you. You seem so nice and down to earth. From the picture they portrayed I felt like I had to be really good at riding and own a horse or else I would be excluded.
