But if you cant control your horse with a bitless bridle wont the horse feel the pressure on its face since a bitless bridle is face pressure and a bit is mouth? Some of the horses at my barn don’t like the pressure on their face. If you cant control your horse you shouldn’t really be on it because im sure pain all over the face is really not fun
dani your not supposed to control your horse with a bit or bridle.. For the most part you should use your leg. Plus trust me a bit isn’t going to stop your house from bucking or running off with you. You need a relationship and trust with your horse without that no bit or bridle will save you(a painful one may make it worse). If you don’t use any equipment correctly(pressure and release) then it leads to pain and an angry horse. The bridle is nothing more than a communication tool not a threat:)

I don't have a horse. I've never had a horse. I've ridden a horse once & it was like driving a car with no brakes & no steering wheel. Still, I stumbled upon this video & I love every second of it. I don't believe any animal should be trained with pain or fear, so this lady has my deep respect, & I'm enjoying how she describes the horse's communicating with her through its body. For all animals, that's all they have. So important to listen.

Haaaa I've had a massive old Percheron mare run away with me, into old growth forest. As a purely prey animal their flight reflex is not to be gainsaid. I had to do a flying dismount to avoid being terminally clotheslined.

Finally someone who's trying to help a horse understand rather then beating it into submission! Not going to lie it was stressful to see her get dragged and approach her when i thought she was just going to get kicked in the face, but the horse wasn't aggressive, just dominate and insecure about following humans. See it in dogs all the time. Great video!

For so many critics, she sure got good results. She's not domineering and doesnt use fear ("who's the boss") yet gets good results. Shes firm but loving. Just a different style, not inferior. Glad she uses no bit!
Yes! My father and I fight all the time. Because he wants to dominate the horse. The horse needs to follow you.
@@hadesdaughter381, I don't think a horse needs to be dominated or shown "who's boss." That only causes fear in them. It's my strong opinion that when a horse is trying to fight you, it's only fear, not that the horse is trying to dominate the human. A horse won't take the lead of the human, when uppermost in their mind is protecting themselves. I like this trainer, and I agree that a horse responds well to a calm voice.

She totally dominated the mare. The keeping her moving and applying pressure until the mare stopped and started to lick and chew is showing her who is boss.
@@ginawhisnant9966, When I think of the word domination, I think of it as instilling fear through punishment, which I don't think she's doing to the mare. It appears that the mare eventually decides for herself that Mia is okay and can be trusted. Just my interpretation of it. I had a similar headstrong horse with a difficult beginning of abuse, and what I learned over time was that he needed to feel safe, and that he could trust me. It took several months, though for me, and not days. Mia got very fast results with this mare.
This woman is a revelation. I had an ah ha! Moment when she talked about it not being the horse's responsibility to worry about being scared, we will let them know if there is something to be scared of because WE are the herd leader. I wish my first trainer had taught me this with my first horse! (A green, spooky, herd-bound Arab mare.) Every time she spooked I would get scared and try to let her check it out to calm down and I ended up on my butt at a lot of horse shows, in tears and so frustrated. Thank you ma'am!

I have come to realize there are a lot of trainers who just don't know this herd leader mindset. Mia is one of the few that do know. David Lee Archer is another great trainer who understands how horses think and communicate.
I was always taught too and read in books, if a horse is spooky to let them check out whatever it is and see it's nothing to be afraid of. It sounds like you were afraid of her being afraid and she picked up on your reaction.
Lyssa it’s the same with dogs.
The horse doesn't understand that the rider is afraid of the horse spooking and then falling of, the horse only senses that the "leader" is worried as well, so that means this must be something really dangerous..
I try to figure out what the horse is worried about, then I will maybe do something like: oooh look at those scary trashcans, my good they are probably containing monsters (with this joking voice you use when you try to scare children, while you are laughing inside)
Sometimes it works, sometimes the horse needs you to push its boundaries.
I once used 30 min to pass a trampoline, one step, waiting, one step, more waiting, two steps back, waiting, forward, waiting, but we passed it and the horse grew some inches just from this experience.
The connection Mia has with horses is touching, unbelievable, and the horse makes the DECISION of its own free will. What a GORGEOUS girl.
Gorgeous is the perfect word for that horse. She represents everything I would want in a beautiful, wild animal!
She's not fearless. She *pays close attention,* and sees no evident danger in the attitude of the horse. If the horse sees you, and isn't distracted, it won't purposely hurt you unless it wants to. And most horses will indicate when they want to hurt you. She would pick up that signal. The big thing for her method is that smallish, enclosed pen with no distractions of noise or sight. The horse has much fewer things to think about.

I mean, I'm sure that is all true. But what benefit is there to stand behind horse or going under the horse? Seems like she likes to show off to make herself seem like a guru.
@@masas19 Actually there is a huge benefit,,#1 you are presenting yourself to the horse as someone who can be trusted because you are showing them that you trust them enough to do this. #2 This is also a very effective tool to help evaluate where the horses mind is at, I use this a lot to help me decide how much harder I can push a horse's level of tolerance, whether I need to stay where I am at or if I need to back-off a little bit or if I can give them a little more challenge. Each time I successfully push the envelope the horse gains a little bit more confidence in himself and trust in me.

No need for her to be afraid. She reads that horse like it's a childrens book, shen knows what it's going to do before the horse knows it itself.
her not being afraid is key - the horse telepathically and energetically will immediately feel that in the person engaging them. So use your heart - beam strong confident love from your heart and with Mia's method that horse will do what you want them to and amaze everyone around you. And you will have a much happier horse companion who knows you really get them on this level. It will change your relationship.
@@WhaleCommunicators My daughter is training a yearling colt, he is an absolute defiant sod. But when Sam goes out to see him she has to make sure she is happy with a smile, or he wont even acknowledge her. Baby steps is winning.

The change in the looks of this mare from when she came in in the beginning all stiff and defiant, to at the end, relaxing and enjoying being with people! How wonderful for her owner to have such a caring and talented trainer help her horse. Just wonderful.

It seems too many people on this page aren't acknowledging or realizing that this IS a horse who has already been broke to ride and jump but has missed part of her basic and much needed training....respect. I agree this trainer is fearless and like many other accomplished trainers reads her horse well.
I suggest you watch the documentary “buck” about buck branaman. You may find it interesting ... and entertaining

My horse Carl (who's in heaven now ❤) had a major attitude problem. When I was riding him, for the first few months whenever he touched grass, he would take off, (me clinging on like a frightened limpet). Being faced with selling him, I realised I just loved him, spiky as he was. So I simply decided to walk him everywhere, avoid grass or any opportunity to take off again. We honestly did that for a whole year. We just walked everywhere. One day we came to a short grass verge, and I decided to ask for a canter. I could feel how surprised he was! He never tried to take off again. I just realised that someone had found he was a speed demon (he was bloody fast!) and that's all they'd made him do. We were together from him being 9, to 34. I rode him till he was 30. What a boy 💗

This trainer is very intuitive with impeccable reading of the horse and great timing in a style that completely works for her. There is so much to 'see' here that is not obvious at all. I wouldnt recommend any amateur try and copy any of this. thanks for the video, such a lovely 'feel'

This reminds me of a riding lesson I had during my holidays a few months back. Before my instructor even put me on the horse, I had to stay on the ground and lead it around without a lead rope or any tools. I think riding would be a lot kinder if everyone had to spend at least five minutes such walking or standing around with their horse before a lesson.
Completely agree I plan to go horseback riding soon and I would spend any amount of time I could on or off any horse. They’re amazing creatures

Mia uses her heart all through her training. You (the viewer as well as the horse) are immediately drawn to her from the time she begins her many forms of communicaiton with the horse. She's so gentle and a beautiful person inside and out. And then to see this just in the most serene & beautiful way transfer to the horse.
This is the way it was always suppose to be - LOVING kind and gentle - all animals of any species prefer this . . . . and look at what you get back when applied.

This was great and I like how realistic it was. The horse didn't always comply, it took some time. Not like some miracle videos where within 10 minutes the horse goes from wild to completely bomb-proof doing exactly what it's asked.
Really great, and she explains her approach very simply so we can understand the ideas behind it.

The owner ( and the previous owners) had many years to educate the horse and they did not succeed while Mia is fixing it in 2 days. Just so wonderful of her.
This trainer is amazing. Such respect for the horse and it is so wonderful to see a horse being riden without a bit. Have always hated bits as the horse always seems so uncomfortable. The owner is going to be wonderful as she wants her horse to be happy!
Many trainers here trolling all the horse videos to instill a fear of learning trying to keep information from being spread. Notice they never have an active channel with videos to help people learn.

The horse moved like silk and oh, the dapple grey! The young lady was beautiful and took instruction well, with a positive attitude. The trainer is a miracle worker.

the real Satan Ok but I feel like she‘s not giving the horse any other option to just follow her. U see in the beginning how shes not letting the horse get anywhere and just stand by the corner. The horse thinks now „what do u want u just getting me in the corner I have no choice to follow u because ur not letting me getting away“ so the horse doesnt really choose to follow her out of respect (u can see this by her getting away as soon as the trainer asked her to back up). She did it because she didnt have a choice. I mean in the end it worked yes but I dont really think they communicated. She just teched the horse that she doesnt have another chance.
Same principle that John Lyons used in his Round Pen Reasoning, although John pushed the situation to get the horse liking to be in his company. I understand completely what she is doing here: Changing the herd dynamics for this horse, establishing herself as the alpha horse, creating respect. I would suspect that this mare got this way because of unqualified people handling her.
This woman told the horse that SHE is pack leader which is what the horse wanted, to find a leader so she'll feel safe. At the beginning of another video the trainer explained it: Horses are pack animals, they need a leader.
round pen removes all options from the horse. the horse is actually forced to 'submit' , the only option, it cannot make any other choice in a round pen. the horse is prey, the male human is a predator with an agenda. prey animals when 'caught' are submitted to the predator, the nervous system 'fr, eezes' before being killed. it's the way of nature.

Mia Truly appears to be an OLD Soul and beyond her years on this Earth. Something very natural & calming about her presence with the horses. Im older now and have become fearful of Horses after several bad situations as a child, but wish I had someone like her to train me and also show me how to train the horse.

When the young girl started working with this mare you could feel and see a change in the horses demeanor....she softened, lowered her head and followed her immediately...like an apology but she still loves the girl......I really like to watch you work with the horses.... you approach with a very knowledgeable horse mind.....love it! Wow! Well done. My grandfather and I used to tame wild horses when I was a kid and he was still alive. A lot of the time, we would work them in a pool so we could have better control due to the water resistance and buoyancy. Then, once they would learn to trust us to let me (around 10 or 11 years old) on their back and allowed a bridle to be put on, we would move from the pool into the training barn to work on trust and saddle. We only ever had one old stallion that never got past the pool. We could lead him in but, as soon as ANYONE got in with him, he would lash out, biting and kicking. We tried just moving onto barn training but he wasn't having that, either. After nearly a month and 2 ranch hands being bit or kicked, Grandpa let him go back to his herd. He looked just like this mare!

What an amazing trainer! So immediately tuned in to each horse's needs. Every time I watch her, it is so fascinating. And this is one of the most beautiful dappled horses I've ever seen! Wow.
I love watching Mia, she is so brave and comfortable with horses. I rewatch her so that I can get that same feeling of confidence and easy going feeling with my horse. Just having that overall feeling with horses has been awesome for my horse.
I love how she includes the not so pretty parts of training, like when she's getting drug around the arena. Training is not all nice and pretty, I'm always suspicious of those videos where it just magically works for the trainers...

You cannot force a horse to do anything, Mia's approach shows this. A facinating watch. With kindness and firmness she had this powerful mare to trust her in 2 days. Today many so called trainers no nothing, more Mia's are needed within the horse world.

I love this girl. Most people over think it and don't pay enough attention. Some horses simply need more time. Patience and kindness always brings them around. You never need to man handle or be cruel in any way. I've worked with and rescued many hard cases off the track. they always come around with patience.

I’d love to see her free jump, not with the owner. You can tell by the way her neck muscles are developed that she is not being ridden correctly.

Beate Mueller it’s possible that this mare is being ridden incorrectly, but she looks like a saddlebred to me, and they have naturally high set necks that come up from the tops of their shoulders.

Mia, you amaze me no end. I love and agree with the way you do things. I watched other trainer vids and altho I understand their style with the horse, I love yours way so much more. You do not use bits (which I hate!) and you lead and train with love and kindness in your heart and it comes out in your voice. No wonder the horses actually work with you faster! Love you!!

Coming in all the way from the U.S.🇺🇸Colorado Springs, Colorado. Dear Lady I must say... That You Are one of most amazing and gentle horse trainers I have ever come across. I really enjoy watching how you go about your training with a horse/pony and I like that you also do not believe in using a bid in a horses mouth. Riding/jumping, sadly it must be used but aside from that I think you are Most Amazing. Thank You for sharing your knowledge.
This brings me to tears. To see this interaction between a horse who feels she's never been heard and a trainer that knows how to fix this. And then to watch her owner do the same things and the horse gets it right away and this is because she see immediately that her owner now gets it through this process. And its such a WIN WIN for everyone around her. And especially for this beautiful horse with a HUGE SPIRIT. You both did REALLY GOOD WORK for the heavens and the horses of our world today. Amazing horse trainer one of the best I've seen, you get the horses to do what you want without being cruel and without the use of Hardwick's and ropes like many others do. I think you're an amazing person I've watched a lot of your videos and you always get good results without being cruel😀
