This man makes me feel unhealthy. I don't have a curve in my neck or lower back, all of my joints are stiff and always painful, my muscles are tender, mostly always aching and sore and I crack, constantly. Several parts of my body are out of place and I have zero coordination or precision, when trying to orient my body 😂

Hi, Dr. Gill! I have a question, if you don't mind. What's the purpose behind "sweeping" around the knees, and why is it done in an upward motion? I noticed the same thing in a video on the Warwick channel. 😮
Sweeping around the knee is done to check for joint effusion. What the sweeping does, while also firmly pressing on the distal thigh (which keeps fluid in the knee joint), is 'sweeping' away any fluid from the medial gutter. Then sweep the lateral gutter from distal to proximal, looking at the medial gutter. If a bulge occurs, this points to a small joint effusion. Also, the patella tap test works for this. It is whatever a doctor prefers to use. Some do both, some do one.
