I have those rotten peelies presently. I scrubbed & used some glycolic to loosen them, but it looks like I'm going to have to go another round at least with scrub. I just bought a new foundation & that's exactly why I didn't even bothered. You're brave for trying something new because I think we've all had the ultimate nightmare face of horror movie foundation peelies. That Tatcha really made everything smooth that it's too bad for me silicone primers clog my poors.
I had been switching my glycolics to cleansing but I think with the retinols I need to go back to full-on glycolic night serum. I still use my DE glycolic but only a couple nights a week rather than every night that I'm not doing retinols. I'm going to go back to at least doing it the night after every retinol night. And I think I'd cry if I had to give up silicone primers. They save my face 😂
Very pretty on you, love the eye colors, too...we live in a wooded area, and love it... very peaceful....We have so many bird's and deer ( they eat everything) ...only miss the city for the convenience.... I know you will enjoy your view and backyard....
Hey! Would love to see you review Alter Ego's Goddess Palette. It's supposed to be a dupe for Natasha Denona's Gold Palette. Everyone seems to love it, but I haven't seen a review from someone I super trust yet
Yes!!! I plan to grab it as soon as I get home! I'm so excited to try them. I've read rumors that it's Bad Habit, rebranded, and I loved Bad Habit shadows.
Thanks for the review Shelly! Wow, were you ever industrious before your trip. You had so much to take care of and I’m impressed. I hope that you’re getting some travel time in with your students. When I did my Italian semester abroad, we took quite a few side trips through Umbria and Tuscany. It also was such a nice way to really get to know my professors. I was about their age, too! I hope that you’re creating lots of memories Shelly. Stay safe and happy. 😘
Hi Jan! Yes it was a crazy few weeks leading up to it! Last year I started pre-filming earlier so it wasn't so nuts but this year I was moving, so I didn't start pre-filming until the semester ended. I actually have 3 videos left to finish editing for next week to post :) but I'm almost done! We did quite a few side trips. We wrap up 2 weeks from today and so this is the "free weekend" where the students go travel on their own (I usually just stay in Galway and sit in coffee shops and relax!). We've gone to the Cliffs of Moher, Malin Head, the Giant's Causeway, the Burren, Connemara, gosh I can't even think of where else along the way of our Dublin/Derry/Galway city stays. It has been grand!
How thrilling! I’ve always wanted to see the Cliffs of Moher and Giant’s Causeway not to mention Dublin and Connemara. When I need an Ireland fix, I watch old movies. My 86 yo mother has always wanted to visit Ireland, so I may need to find a tour for her. I’m not a huge fan of bus tours, but it might be just the thing for her. Enjoy your last two weeks my friend. ☘️
I thought it looked very good on you. I would not have expected it to work on dry skin, and yet it totally worked, imo. I also thought your eye makeup and hairstyle looked very flattering. All in all, you looked great!
Thanks, Cecilia! Yep I didn't have any trouble at all in terms of dryness. I wore this one more time mixed with a lighter shade of foundation and it still was fine, no dryness issues.
We don't have the same skin type but love watching your videos because I think your summer favorites will work for me in the winter 💖 Thank you so much for the great reviews!
You're always so thorough in your reviews, really appreciate that! I thought this looked great considering you were going through the peelies! I can tell you, when I'm going through a peely stage nothing looks good on my skin!! Can't wait to hear about this in a follow up! Hope you're having a great time in Ireland!
Anything that can hold up to peelies deserves commendation on that front, for sure! I've got just over a week and a half left here in IRE - the film festival starts tomorrow!
Love that lip color Shelly. So versatile for the summer! :) Hope you're feeling better. I went through a sinus attack of my own recently and now have a red, peely nose. :-P Yesterday I started taking CBD tincture and my sinus pressure is almost completely gone. :-)
@@goow Good to hear, can't wait for the next foundation review! :D I'm feeling better too thanks to the CBD. I was skeptical but it relieved my sinus pressure almost immediately as well as the urge to sneeze constantly. Finally able to sleep through the night too without waking up to blow my nose. :-/
Would love to see you review Nyx Bare With Me Tinted Veil -- looks like it might be a nice one for summer with lighter coverage. Also -- your eye look in this video is gorgeous! I got a laugh about "taking it light and easy today..." on the eye makeup. Me: Just going to the grocery store so a no-makeup look will do Also me: ...and maybe some purple glitter winged liner, green duochrome highlighter??? LOL
LOL that is totally how it happens for me! I got the Nyx up a couple weeks ago - I don't have the link handy but it had literally zero coverage on me - like, it did nothing. :(
Hi Shelly, I think the foundation looks good although I agree the shade is a smidge too deep. You and I often wear the same foundation shade. I searched on Sephora shade finder. Based on shades I often wear, in addition to 3.5, the finder results were 3.25(input MAC NW15) or shade 1 (input MAC NW13). Interestingly enough, like you, I was matched to shade 3.5 when inputting EL Doublewear stay in place full coverage formula in Shade Cool Bone BUT the match result is shade 1 when inputting EL Doublewear Nude formula and selecting the same shade, Cool Bone. I hope that information helps identify a better shade match!
hi, shelly! looks like a really nice foundation that does fade away slowly. wishing i could get my hands on a sample as it's way passed the d.d. price range. i agree, it was a bit too dark which makes me question sephoras ability to give comparison shades. nonetheless, i liked it a lot esp since it isn't designated for dry but worked well anyway. have a wonderful weekend! ~k
Shelly, I have the worst luck with mascara. It looks good n a few hours later it's all over my under eyes. I've tried a range of them at all price points. Any suggestions? Thanks n love ur new backyard! Who has been taking care of the fur babies while ur traveling?
My favorite mascara for not smudging is the Estee Lauder Double Wear Zero Smudge. I just found it a couple months back and I now religiously use it for my lower lashline. I love the back yard! My mom moved in with me when I bought the house so she's back at home with all of the meows :)
Thnx 4 doing this one! I am getting tired of peeling skin. Kinda laying off the hard core. I want to have nice skin for a little while!!! ;) We'll see if I actually follow through. Hehe
I haven't increased my retinols at all while traveling, just sticking with my 2 times a week with the DE A-Passioni and I think my skin is almost adjusted to it.... almost no peelies in the days after now. I have also gone back to more glycolics. I think the decreased exfoliation was exasperating the peeling. So I'm back on the DE glycolic more nights a week and my acid toners more days a week.
I always try to guess what your grade is going to be and I'm usually spot-on, but this time I guessed B+. I liked this on you! The fact that it didn't emphasize your peeling is huge in my book. I use retinols and acids, so peeling is something I experience occasionally. I feel like the foundation could easily be refreshed by pressing a spray over areas with a damp sponge. I wonder if longevity would be improved with a primer/different primer?
Started wearing Dior Backstage face and body foundation from your review and it’s my favorite! Have you tried the new Dior Backstage Primer? Would love to hear your review if it!
I’ve been wanting to try this, but keep getting nervous because of my dry skin. Lol. Most everything looks horrid on me. I love a matte look, though :/. I wonder if their compact/cushion version is similar? I’d love to be able to just throw it in a bag and go if I can
I always seem to have the impression that compacts are more moisturizing/less matte - it may be! Or that could be some silly thing I've made up in my head 😂
Well, the compact version doesn't have denat. Alcohol. And is apparently a radiant finish. So, you may be onto something. Lol. But the couple of reviews I've seen on the compact are talking about it not being for dry skin. I caved and made an impulse purchase of the liquid version since you didn't seem to have a problem with it. I can always return it if it doesn't work out. Haha. But I've been wanting to try it for a while. I hope it ends up looking nice. I hate wanting matte skin, but being so dry 😩
Thankyou very informative so nice to see on someone my age xxx Foundation suggestion no7 beautifully matte light my go to nobody talks about it i think its a good one if you can get a good colour they do have limited shades tho xxx
Thought this one looked great on you! Shade, tho. I’ve been enjoying the Make Up Forever Ultra HD Invisible Cover Foundation. Would love to see a review and what you think!
I wonder if that is the MUFE foundation I've got in my bin. I bought one last summer in my self tanning shade but then didn't get around to it before I stopped self tanning. I should probably just repurchase my normal shade because I don't think I'll be self tanning this year!
Geek Out of Water Cool! I think it was an Allure winner as well. I’ve enjoyed it, but I am in no way a foundation expert. Looking forward to your thoughts!
2 observations. It looks like skin. And the swatch looked darker than the face application. Lots of people seem to live this. I'm dry as a desert as well and even in warm weather have to mix oil in with my mosituriser or my chin and mouth area turns all cracked and dried up. Hope you're enjoying Ireland. Are you visiting England at all? Xxx
Hi Ginger! Ireland has been grand - 2 weeks from today I head home. We're having our first rainy morning in quite some time - can't complain! The weather has been amazing. I'm not leaving Ireland this time but I will be doing the program again next summer and I really need to plan a small trip for our free travel weekend. I always just stay in Galway and relax!
I probably will when I get back home because I just bought the self tan remover that ThaTaylaa recently recommended :) I've never seen the brand in the states but I found it here at Boots. I think it's Australian - Bondi Sands or something like that.
It's so wild - I have to stop saying that because they really are just about gone! It's the No 7 line reducer that looks like a giant plastic needle. I just repurchased it, second tube :)
After your review where you mentioned that line reduced I purchased it on the Skinstore website, on sale. I’m going to see how it goes for me because the difference I see for you is fantastic. Have to say again how great your skin is looking. I’m faithful Retin A and Peter Thomas Roth but I’m willing to try anything that might work for me. Hope you’re having fun! Love your posts. 👍🏻💕

Thanks, Linda! I'm missing all of my woodland creatures on my trip! My house camera caught a mom and 2 baby deer in my yard yesterday :)
Love your backyard. So beautiful and peaceful!
Thanks, Stacey! I love it, too!
