Hi all! For those wondering why I tested this wet, it's because most reviewers I'd seen tested it dry. It claims to be full coverage when applied wet, so I decided to test that (it has already shown quite successful as a dry powder). That's also why I did my concealer the way I would with a liquid foundation - I figured, with water involved in a wet application, it would behave more like a liquid. On that, I was wrong, and may have had better luck applying concealer first. I don't think that impacted the rest of the test (how it responds to sweat after a wet application, etc). Thanks for watching and I'll keep you posted once I try it with a fully dry application!
That all makes sense! I'm glad you decided to show us a different application method than everyone else. I'm excited to hear your update when you try it dry to see if that makes you feel any differently. I think no matter the application method, it's definitely not designed for wearing while sweating!
I use this foundation this way, i moisture then but my sunblock on wait like 20mins put on my primer spray my face with the catrice spray then I put on foundation. It looks beautiful, so flawless. I also have very dry skin.
Powder Foundations are mainly what I use, and I’ve had this one for about a year now. I moisturize, sunscreen, and with a very light hand I apply with a brush. Catrice Dewy setting spay works best. It always turns out perfect. *Tip- apply concealer first. Looking forward to your next review!
I do concealer first, make sure I hydrate well and then buff in the foundation dry, with a flat top kabuki brush. I set with the Milani make it dewy. Love it. Over 40 super dry skin. Never liked a powder foundation before but love this one.
I wear powders foundations most of the time but I dont apply them with a wet sponge. I just buff in dry with a brush. Put your concealer on first and work the powder up to the concealer. Put all cream products on first when you use a powder foundation. MAC Fix Plus does a great job of taking the powder look down for powder foundations. Cheers!
I never in a million years thought I would like a powder foundation but I LOVE Aquasurance! I apply my sunscreen and then hydrating primer and allow it to set for at least 10 minutes before applying the foundation. I finish with the catrice prime and fine. It looks flawless! I'm a 59 year old woman with very dry skin.
Hi Shelly, I have the JCAT Aquasurance foundation and when I use it I just take a flat foundation brush and stipple it on. It works really well and is not as mask like as it is when you swipe it on or use it wet. I would def. not put it under my eyes and would put on concealer first then once that's set it's safe to stipple on the powder foundation or use a more fluffy brush for additional coverage. with a light foundation or tinted moisturizer.
Oh no. I hate that this didn’t work for you, as I really love it. I’ve always used a brush with a super light hand (light coverage), and finish with a dewy setting spray. It’s weird how products can vary so much for different people. Thanks for the great review, girlie🍃🌸
Hey beautiful have u done a review on estee Lakeland hello from benefits powder foundation? I watch all ur stuff don't recall seeing those, I am 44 with dry skin. Ty for the review have a great day.
Oooh I was eyeing that brush set, too! I wonder if the equivalent TKMaxx has it in Ireland - I'm sure it will be gone from the US stores by the time I get home in 3 weeks!
Hi Shelly! Powder foundation pro here; I'd recommend using concealer first and set with usual powder before applying the powder foundation. I really like the Milk hydrogrip primer with powder foundations. But, I have oily skin so I can't help with staying hydrated. Hope you're enjoying Ireland! 🍀🍀
I tried this and it was just OK on me but it looks fabulous on my 14 year old daughter. She puts just the teeniest bit on dry with a kabuki and it covers blemishes and is so easy for her to throw on quickly.
Have you tried this since with a regular powder application? I've tried this one and thought that with pressing it on with a brush like you would if you were setting foundation (put concealer on first!), then using a setting spray sets it to a nice finish that doesn't do the mask thing you're talking about. I tried beauty sponge application and got the same issues you did, but with a brush I don't have those problems. Worth trying since you already own it!
I'm going to have to try this. Powder foundation is my fave, but so far I only like Laura Geller which gives light coverage. It'd be nice to have a fuller coverage powder foundation. I agree with the concealer first method... that's how I do it & I was wondering if buffing with a brush after sponging on might be helpful with it feeling tight.
Jessica Allen good for dry skin? I’ve never had much luck with Milani complexion products, but I’ll give it a shot! I’d like to have a nice non-drying powder foundation for summer 😁
I just found this review and it was so helpful. While I have older, oiler skin, you certainly provide enough insights to be of help to all skin types. Thank you!
I am in love with the royal affair palette. It's my first BH product and I got it at Marshall's for $7 and I use it way more than my more expensive palettes. The blue color that looks pretty flat in the pan but you put it on and it's a gorgeous duochrome😍😍 I have never gotten so many compliments on my makeup as when I wear that in combination with a darker color.
Hi Shelly! Thank you for trying this foundation out! I have been very curious about it! Do you have any thoughts on how this may perform dusted lightly on the skin as a setting powder?
I haven't tried it dry yet but most people that I've seen review it applied it dry and liked it. I just wanted to test the wet application since they claimed it was possible and nobody was doing it :)
How I got mine to work beautifully was..... Moisturize and then used Catrice | Prime & Fine Illuminating Dewy Glow Spray Then let that dry down... then applied my concealer... set it with a little powder, Then used the foundation, used the sponge that came with, then used a blending brush to set, did all my powdered products, bronzer, blush, afterwards followed with another spray of catrice spray.. came out perfection. I realize this video is over 2 yrs old, but I just love how beautiful this is on dry skin with textured and, larger pores. I love your videos and I know you want a product to work.. As we spend 1000's of dollars on stuff. Lol
Thoroughly enjoyed your vid. Love your makeup. I moisturize then put on sunscreen and let it dry. I then use Aquasurance dry with the sponge it comes with. I have very dark circles and crepey undereyes. I just stopped using concealer because I couldn’t deal. I go over the lid and undereye using the same sponge with the dry Aquasurance powder. It covers the circles just enough that they’re not offensive. 😂 I’ve learned to embrace the circles. It doesn’t cake there like concealer, liquid foundation and setting powder has in the past. I bronze and blush and then spray with setting spray. Works for my very dry skin. I sweat but still look somewhat human by the end of the day. I love it.
So I LOVE this stuff. I put on my concealer first and I use the Catrice setting spray, the glow one that is pink. Taylor did a review of this and those were her suggestions and it is magical!!!
I like the look of this foundation...I’ve been binge watching ur videos for a few weeks, I’ll watch a few a night. I’ve probably already told u this 😂😂😂
By any chance do you have LancomeTeint Miracle Radiant in your supply of foundations? I recently saw thelipstickgal use it in a GRWM me recently and it looks gorgeous! Wondering if it's Shelly approved? I did check your spreadsheet and it's not on there but am wondering if it might be one that's coming up in one of your Foundation Fridays?
hi, shelly! it's a big no for me because when i get hot, i develop fountain head. i can only imagine what it would look like and doubt i could convince anyone that streaky foundation is the new thing. i see a lot of suggestions have been made by others and suspect you will give them a try. may your weekend be wonderful! ~k
New subbie here; can you do review for the MUFE matte velvet blurring powder foundation? I have dry skin and was wondering if that foundation worth it for $$.
I'm with you on the dry skin-mask feeling. Ugh! To have that going on during the summer is also very strange. :-/ Maybelline has released a new foundation (finally here in the US, has been available in the UK for several months), called Urban Cover that is a full coverage, natural finish foundation. Looks to be available at Target among other stores. Comes in 16 shades, has an SPF-50 and is apparently good for any skin type. How's the Irish tan coming along? :D
I was able to grab it right before I left for Ireland so I have 2 shades with me here - I'm hoping to film a review with it while I'm here! I've gone and caught a cold now so I have to wait until I don't need to blow my nose every 5 minutes :-D
@@goow Oh bummer! Summer colds are so annoying. :( Will definitely look forward to the Maybelline foundation review. From what I've heard on other reviews, it's being called a dupe for IT Cosmetics CC+ cream. :)
Hi Shelly! When my concealer bunches up, I put a drop of hydrating serum under my eyes and pat it in. I use Dr Dennis Goss hydrating serum and it works perfectly for this issue. The foundation really was unusual, it was interesting to see it. Thank you!
Hi there! Check out Thatayla's videos. She loves this powder foundation but you use concealer first. It's on my list to try but with dry, mature skin I'm always nervous about powder foundations.
Hey girl loved this video! Thanks for reviewing this..Ive been wanting to try it but girl the way I sweat 🤣 I think I'm gonna pass. I thought it looked beautiful on you after you applied it, also loved the eyeshadow look super pretty!!! You're just awesome newer subbie here I think I've been with you for about a month now or so. You're very pretty girl and I love your personality!!! Keep pumping out these dry skin videos for us dry skin girls!! Ooh have you tried Clinique even better glow? Girrrrrrrl it's beautiful!!!! Beautiful glow with out looking greasy!!!💖
Fake monster skin! lol I so love your details! The color looked a bit flat and light, but wonder if it was flashback? Did you try it dry also? Would be curious if it worked that way? Pretty eye palette!
Nice! I’ve been wondering about this one for awhile! Where I’m living right now it’s so hot and humid...I’m thinking powder might be the way to go. If you’ve used the IT powders let me know how you think they compare. I do not like the ones from from it...of course this would be a much cheaper try! Thank you and have a lovely day!!!
Hi Leigh! I do like the IT Cosmetics Celebration foundation powder for a higher coverage powder, and I've got the IT CC+ powder too which I use for low-makeup days. I wouldn't say either are holy grail but I reach for them on the low end of regularly. Most of the time I just use my Charlotte Tilbury Airbrush Flawless Finish. It's meant as setting powder but I use it for low-makeup days on its own, too.
Geek Out of Water Thank you!!! I’ve not had good luck with the powder foundations from it. They simply look like a thick layer of powder upon my skins...
I can't wait to see if you review the new TF powder foundation (I love the old cocoa foundation), the new Maybelline dream urban cover foundation, and the new shades of the PF healthy foundation (lighter shades!) Hope you are having fun on the other side of the world!
Ps I use a brush to apply my powder foundation :) then I take the sponge and "spot conceal" over my red patches. Also what others said- do your liquid concealer first ❤
I brought the Urban Cover with me to hopefully test while I'm here in Ireland! I've caught myself a little cold so now I will wait until I can stop blowing my nose all day :-D
I think I bought this but haven't tried it yet. I'm concerned now as I'm a head sweater, just go outside in summer and I start pouring sweat, nothing stops it. Does that mean the foundation would just chunk off on me? I'm afraid to try it now lol; maybe I'll wait till winter.
I haven't tried applying it dry yet but I think that effect was magnified by the fact that I applied it as a wet powder. It might not be so pronounced as a dry application, since it won't have as much coverage that way. I plan to try it dry as soon as I'm hope from traveling!
I know ThaTaylaa blends the heck out of it and it looks good but I feel like that is so much work when there are other good cheap foundations. Just ordered Undone and I'm stalking the shipping!
Hello Shelly, I came across Ah-Shi a "Native American owned luxury skincare and cosmetics company". They have 3 foundations (including a powder one), 1 BB cream, cream contour and many other stuff. And I couldn't find any review on TH-cam! I'm super curious about their products 🙏
I have been hoping you would review this one as i've been wanting to try it... but unfortunately, i sweat alot at work so I think this one will be a pass!
You put your concealer on first silly woman!! I've heard the Milani powder foundation is really good. I used to swear by the Pur powder foundation. I try so many products I forgot how good that was! ❤️❤️
Interesting to see this foundation used wet, haven't done that & now, I will not. I really enjoy this stuff. Use it similar to "thataylaa". Been oggling the Royal Affair Eyeshadow. Very pretty. Ooo 4 those of you who don't have, Anastasia's soft glam palette is online Costco for $28! Its a good one.
Watch how thattaylaa applies this...she uses concealer first...same with a lot of other gurus...they just use concealer first THEN powder. Thanks for the review!
Dear how this is as a setting powder?People are saying it's a dupe or alternative of charlot tilbery airbush flawless finish pressed powder!I have very dry skin specially in winter and currently using retinol so which powder you would recommend for me?
This one is beautiful as setting powder too. I would say it adds a little bit more coverage than the CT, and that the CT is just a little bit more smoothing, but they are very comparable and the JCat is certainly worthy of saving some money :)
For all of my life, typos will jump out at me. I spend 9 months after college in a job proofreading business cards - names and addresses and number sequences. :-D My mom would love to hear that teeth comment after the years and $$$ I spent with braces on my teeth!
Oh Shelly, oh shelly, tsk tsk tsk! Always add your concealer before applying powder foundation. You know better! 😂 The key with powder foundations is overdosing the face with a setting spray such as Mac Fix+ or Catrice Dewy Fixing Mist as the final step, as well as periodically throughout the day. Also, I suggest buffing it into the skin with a good powder brush instead of the damp sponge technique. I find the later to apply far too heavy and cakey on drier, more mature skin. I actually didn't wear liquid foundation for years and wore only powder foundation and powdered mineral foundations. As a young, working single mother who didn't own a vehicle, I had about 10 minutes to do my makeup in the morning before rushing out the door. An damn near impossible feat with liquid foundation and I didn't know about BB creams back then. Will you try this foundation using the Wayne Goss buffing technique, dose your face with Catrice afterwards and let me know what you think of it then? It really is such a beautiful product once you get the hang of it I promise! How is your trip going? I hope you're having a lovely time! Xo
I figured a wet powder would behave more like a liquid than a powder, with water involved :-D It seems like most people that are reviewing and loving this applied it fully dry, and since it claims it works wet, I figured I'd try that!
@@goow I used to love applying powder with a wet sponge, but as I have gotten older I have definitely noticed it doesn't seem to apply as nicely as it used to :(
I use powder concealer -bareminerals well rested with my powder foundations or apply my liquid concealer before powder foudation then apply a layer of the powder foundation with a fluffy brush to set the concealer.. I didn’t like this foundation because I had alot of oily breakthrough due to my oily skin.. I think its made for dry skin .. I prefer It Cosmetics powder foundation over this one ..
Man!!! I was so looking forward to this review. It worked so well for Tati. I sweat no matter what, especially my nose, so this is a no for me. Even if the price is good I'd hate for it to rub off.
Shelly, I loved how you did the swatches, with the names on the screen. Thanks! Also, when you started applying the product and were doing the voice over, I started cracking up, you sounded like a commentator from a horse race. 😂😂😂
That's a fabulous color match for you, though! It seems that no one else is talking about Jcat products. (Asking a foundation to last through a day of moving and intense housework is rather brutal! Let's see any other fondation make it through such activity!) 😉
I had heard good things about this foundation, but I guess not all foundations are going to work for everyone. Hope you’re enjoying your stay in Ireland 🇮🇪.
It seems that most people reviewed it dry and loved it- but since nobody was reviewing it wet, and it claimed to work that way, I figured I'd first review it wet!
I actually like this one, but NOT using it wet. It's too heavy for me that way. You always have to use concealer first before powder foundations! Also, set your concealer with your normal under eye setting powder, then use the foundation powder. Never set your under eyes with a powder foundation, or it will be cake-city!
Shelly, you are full of surprises! At first, I’m hearing that it’s a wet powder 🤔 Ok, so it’s a flat out oxymoron, right? Then, it looks so beautiful on your skin and then after that, you’re describing it like it belongs in a Roger Corman film! You are so funny woman! The last confounding thing is the “B” rating. I’m just teasing you on this one. Seriously I was envisioning Vincent Price in The House of Wax. 😂. Hope you’re creating loads of memories in Ireland. Sending hugs! ☘️
It's such a strange thing applied wet! Everybody I've seen review it seemed to ignore the claims about wet application, so I figured I'd be the one to try it! 😂
The blurring on the initial application was unreal! When you showed the swatches, I thought maybe there was something funky going on with your camera, but when you applied and zoomed in I realized that was the foundation! I was really interested in this one right up until you said "uncomfortably dry-feeling", and that's a nope for me. I hate being able to feel product on my face, and I particularly hate when it feels like my skin is dehydrating.
Thanks for your feedback, Ruth! This product specifically claimed that it could be applied wet, and since most reviewers applied it dry, I figured I would test the wet application claims. Powder foundations are typically applied without water, and I do know how to apply a dry powder foundation. This claimed it could be used as a wet powder foundation, so I applied it the way any foundation with water involved would be applied (which is also how the instructions stated it should be applied wet).
Not loving it, Shelly. It's very flat on your skin, and perhaps a shade too light. If there is talc in the product, that will suck the hydration right out of your skin. If you wanted to try it again, but are having a concern with the concealer, use your concealer prior to the powder foundation. Anything with talc is a big no for me. Sorry! 🙄
I would like to see a "dry run". LOL
😂
That all makes sense! I'm glad you decided to show us a different application method than everyone else. I'm excited to hear your update when you try it dry to see if that makes you feel any differently. I think no matter the application method, it's definitely not designed for wearing while sweating!
This is my FAVORITE powder foundation, BUT i put it on dry with a puff and press it in, and then spray and set. That's the only way it works for me
Try to apply your concealer first when using powder foundation!! It’ll look great 😁

I wear powders foundations most of the time but I dont apply them with a wet sponge. I just buff in dry with a brush. Put your concealer on first and work the powder up to the concealer. I think the moral of this story is 1. Put concealer on before foundation and 2. Don't use the wet application . TH-camrs who use it dry love it!
Yep I still need to try it dry!
Oh no. I hate that this didn’t work for you, as I really love it. I’ve always used a brush with a super light hand (light coverage), and finish with a dewy setting spray. It’s weird how products can vary so much for different people.

The BH Cosmetics Royal Affair palette is at TJMaxx right now for super cheap along with the Royal Affair brush set ❤

Hello Kelly
I haven't tried it dry yet but I plan to!
Have you tried the Physicians formula healthy whatever powder foundation?

Jessica Allen good for dry skin? I’ve never had much luck with Milani complexion products, but I’ll give it a shot! I’d like to have a nice non-drying powder foundation for summer 😁

Geek Out of Water
Thank you!!!
Hi Shelly, what was that sponge that you used to apply the powder with? Thanks!
Hi GG! It's a Real Techniques Miracle Complexion Sponge (one of the colors they had out around the holidays).
@@goow thanks Shelly! Figures, love that color.
Interesting! I'll see what I can find - thanks, arinari!
When I wear powder foundation I always use concealer first. Then set with a lighter weight powder. 😀
I normally would with a dry powder, but I figured a wet powder would behave more like liquid anytime water was involved (I was wrong!)
Hello Kelly
Interesting to see this foundation used wet, haven't done that & now, I will not. I really enjoy this stuff. Use it similar to "thataylaa". Been oggling the Royal Affair Eyeshadow. Very pretty. Ooo 4 those of you who don't have, Anastasia's soft glam palette is online Costco for $28! Its a good one.
Oooh I will have to check out Costco - It has been a while since I checked their beauty page!
Watch how thattaylaa applies this...she uses concealer first...same with a lot of other gurus...they just use concealer first THEN powder. Thanks for the review!
Shelly, you were the final verdict on this foundation for me. I've been debating ordering it since it came out. But....yup, patchy cake face.
@@goow Thank u!Love u!I am lucky that I found you dear!
@@goow Did u tried the celebration illumination powder foundation by it cosmetics?Lots of dry skin girl love it some hate it!If u tried how was it?
Cool product
U should conceal beforehand when wearing a powder foundation
Typos?! I might be snobbish, but typos in professional life drive me batty. 😬
Shelly, your teeth are exceptionally beautiful! ☺️
I've got the IT Celebration powder and I do prefer it over this - similar coverage but less of a drying feel on me.
I glanced at the thumbnail and was wondering for a moment where you got a shirt that says, “DRY SKIN OVER 40.”
hehehe I should make that a shirt!
You resolve the concealer concerns by applying your concealer BEFORE you apply powder. Let it rest a minute, then apply powder
I always use concealer first on my under eyes and spots that need extra love, then put your powder foundation on after 😉 Love ya, God bless!
Man!!! I was so looking forward to this review. It worked so well for Tati. I sweat no matter what, especially my nose, so this is a no for me. Even if the price is good I'd hate for it to rub off.
I'm curious to try it dry to sort of beef up coverage with a regular powder. It's an interesting product, for sure!
Conceal everything first and then the powder foundation.
Shelly, I loved how you did the swatches, with the names on the screen. Thanks!
Also, when you started applying the product and were doing the voice over, I started cracking up, you sounded like a commentator from a horse race. 😂😂😂
😂😂😂
I'm just trying this now at 35, you wear your concealer first before applying the powder foundation.
I'm dying for a review of KKW makeup! Saw a video on her wedding line n it looked really pretty.
Would love an update or a top 5 things your loving from the past. ❤️ By the way my niece noticed your Pikachu ❤️
Is it for dry skin or oily skin??
It's probably best suited for normal to oily but I can wear it with dry skin as well.
That's a fabulous color match for you, though! It seems that no one else is talking about Jcat products. (Asking a foundation to last through a day of moving and intense housework is rather brutal! Let's see any other fondation make it through such activity!) 😉
The only one I'd trust would be the Estee Lauder Double Wear Stay in Place :-D
Did it oxydize on you?
Yes it got about half a shade darker, but the tone remained the same (so it didn't get orange or anything like that).
@@goow thank you so much
Cream products first then powder it’s much better
Love your pioneering spirit Shelly. 😁
Next time try swiping on the powder..not patting..and then take a soft brush and dust ...
Strange foundation, It looked nice but too much trouble for me!
What you dont know is how to apply powder foundation.
Concealer goes on before
Concealer goes on first.
Sorry! 🙄
