One of the reasons Austin Vs McMahon worked is because not only did people believe that Vince was the evil manipulative puppet master type of boss, but they also believed that Stone Cold was bad ass enough to go toe to toe with his boss and give him the finger. So the problem with this angle is like Eric said, CASTING. I’m sorry to say to AEW super fans but NO ONE is intimidated by guys like the young bucks and a grown man named Jungle Boy Jack. Tony is beyond awkward and the opposite of tough, but he’s also been so insufferable about his company being the best and trying to put it on the same level as WWE. At the same time, he’s been oblivious/defensive about the flaws in his shows and his own contributions as far as the writing and booking. So with those things being true, he’s not sympathetic enough to be a baby face to most people who know all that and to the causal he just comes off as a huge fan boy nerd. So this will NEVER be like the NWO or Austin and McMahon because both sides aren’t cast in a way that makes them believable or gotta see TV.
He owns the podcast network you goofball. Having differing opinions is what makes a show entertaining and if he actually did begin to agree with everything Eric is saying you’d probably shit on him for not having the guts to disagree and kissing Eric’s ass. It makes less sense showing the footage to the abortion they committed last night. Conrad cannot be a host to Eric. Let's do a trade for Bryan Alvarez. Then Conrad and Uncle Dave can spend two hours smelling Tony's farts.
I think Tony did that intentionally (that’s where most of the highest ratings are due to the ending program leading into Dynamite) so Tony probably doesn’t have faith in Swerve or he wanted Swerve to open the show hoping for the ratings to spike then continue throughout the night but as everyone knows the ratings fall flat after the opening segment
THE RATINGS ARE IN.. AEW DYNAMITE DID 683,000 LAST NIGHT. AND THIS WAS THE SHOW AFTER DYNASTY. OSPREAY, OKADA, THE BUCKS, MOXLEY AND MONE WERE ALL ON THE SHOW.. WHAT IS THE EXCUSE NOW?
The thing that gets me is Tony Khan doesn’t even know how to get attacked or take a bump . Tony Khan got hit in the body and he then acted like he was knocked out then after that he sales his stomach. I don’t know if he was expecting a head shot and had rehearsed it that way or what . But his body reaction wasn’t right on top of that they took so much care of him . The Bucks held him like a baby and laid him down as if it was child . I am not fan of Vince but when he got ring and took a bump it looked better and they wasn’t playing around with Vince they laid it in . So if Tony Khan can’t do it right and take bumps just don’t do it all .

Triple H spent his first 6 months turning WWE around WITHOUT Cody Rhodes, he wouldn’t have needed Cody in the picture at all. AEW didn’t facilitate WWE’s relationships with Endeavor or Nick Khan’s wheeling and dealing to get the company sold. Sorry Connie, Eric is right.
I tried listening to Grilling JR this week but after 25 minutes I stopped as Conrad non stop talked AEW. I kept fast forwarding it hoping they will get to topic of Backlash 2004 but after 25 minutes I had enough. Conrad is so in love with AEW
AEW didn't make Cody Rhodes. He didn't leave WWE and go to AEW. He built a name for himself in NWA, ROH, NJPW, putting together the original All-In, etc. If anything, his lackluster run in AEW was a detour. Sure, Cody gave a lot to AEW in the early phases, but AEW did very little for Cody's career beyond being able to list 'co-founder' on his CV.

He wouldn't be treated no different than Shinske, initially pushed & then forgotten about. He wouldn't ever hold one of the two top titles, most likely the IC or US would be his ceiling.
@RelaxingGhost in the WWE it is. Look at Nakamura, just as big a star as Okada & how far did he go? Sure, he won a Royal Rumble in 2018 but that's as close as he got to main even caliber. He's a two time IC champ & a two time US champ. I see the same for Okada if he had chosen WWE. WWE fans have never really taken to Japanese wrestlers, it's hard for them to get over in WWE. The females have had better luck than the male stars & even Asuka has had her troubles. Don't get me wrong, I love Asuka, Sane, & Skye. Also a big Shinske fan, but it seems like the Japanese stars have a hard time in the WWE. And I know they do well on NXT, I'm talking about the two major shows, Raw & Smackdown.

I'm not sure if anyone in the comment sections has played TEW or other wrestling booker simulator games, but Tony has. He books AEW like he's playing one of those games. They're fun, but it's all formulaic. They're predictable - unlike real life. In those games, you can get a new wrestler over (and have them learn) by putting them in matches with veterans. It always works. Skill and popularity goes up. You can have backstage segments with a ton of people and every one of them has their popularity go up because they were in it. You're penalized for having matches shorter than 15 minutes. Matches that are 20 minutes or longer get a higher rating. That's why he books so many backstage cluster fucks and multi man matches. He believes that everyone involved is getting over just by being a part of it. You're not penalized for not being creative. No matter what angles you do or how repetitive they are, they always boost the rivalry you're booking. The prestige of every title automatically goes up if it's defended in a high rated match. Tony has said he played those games and they influenced him a lot. He has no idea how to book for human beings.
WWE is hotter than ever. AEW is never going to get there. If AEW isn’t going out of business, and wrestlers are happy with an alternative place to work, why does it matter if AEW entertains a few hundred people (and it apparently does, as the loyal fan base suggests) Is it simply because they could be so much more? Is there a risk of AEW disappearing? Or is it because Tony Khan is punching upwards with no substance? LOVE 83 weeks! Keep up the great work!
WWE is losing ratings because of HHH's mark booking. Don't pretend like he's any better than TK. Ratings were up when The Rock was there, now they're back in the toilet.
I laughed at this segment. It was like watching 10 year olds play pro wrestling. Tony dropped dead from one gut punch. I've been sucker punched to the gut when I was around that age and I didn't fall. I just got the wind knocked out of me for a few minutes. If AEW was serious they would have copied the Nexus attack and beat Tony to near death with The Elite talking turns doing their finishers on him. The whole sequence didn't make any sense because The Elite did a face move. The AEW fans hate Tony for firing CM Punk, so logically that makes him a heel. What The Elite basically did was SCSA move of hitting heel Vince with a Stunner. It doesn't work because The Bucks have Go Way Heat and can never be faces. Anal Explosive Waste at it's finest!
So they show footage of someone putting a coworker in a chokehold. That guy gets fired and the recipient of the chokehold gets suspended. The guy that comes off the suspension punches the owner in the company in the stomach on TV. The 2 EVP’s try to break the owners neck on TV. Was Tony in fear for his safety? Who is going to be suspended for this? LAME angle. No consistency.

Conrad should know WWE slowly started getting better when Triple H first took over in July 2022 but it didn't take off till Vince was ousted 14 months later. If Vince is still around the WWE would not be as good as it is now
WWE got better because of Vince leaving and losing power, not AEW. People need to get that correct

Strange ending to this episode of The Super Mario Bros. Super Show!
Jungle Boy could get his ass kicked by many fans. He isnt a tough guy. The Bucks themselves are weak. The were smart to take millions from Tony.
Conrad absolutely doesn’t believe his own BS. Pls get him off this show!!
He owns the podcast network you goofball. Having differing opinions is what makes a show entertaining and if he actually did begin to agree with everything Eric is saying you’d probably shit on him for not having the guts to disagree and kissing Eric’s ass. It’s absurd how upset a lot of people seem to get because Conrad had the audacity to have a different opinion on the company.
He is a fan of an indie show on steroids. Thats what AEW is
