Her emotions were genuine. Her father died just about two weeks before that concert. Her father was her vocal coach and was there in all her concerts. She is now 48yrs old and for more than 3 decades the top diva in the Philippines.
she is our queen, every song she sings her fans/audience expects a BOOM, sometimes she gives the boom most of the time she gives more than the boom. we are so proud of our songbird. thanks for the reaction...
Trivia: She is Regine Velasquez. Regarded as "Asia's Songbird who rose to fame as a recording artist across the Asian continent in the 90s. She is most often regarded as the Queen of all divas in the Philippines. The reason you hear Morisette in her technique is because Regine has started this diva sound decades ago. She is both the most influential and bestselling artist in the Philippines and has enjoyed 3 decades of successful singing career. She has collabed and performed with various international pop stars and music greats like Brian McKnight, Michel Legrand and Alicia Keys.
If you cannot be moved by this song, you are a stone. Regine has a lifetime of singing behind her... you won't see many singers perform at her level.. ever.
She's one of the backbone of the Philippines Music Industry... since 80's that why a lot of young great singers look up to her.. She's their inspirations not only the singers but mostly the entire regions..
To answer your question YES! YES! YES! !!! She is one of the original greats of Philippine pop music along with Martin Nievera and Gary Valenciano. That is why there is a Morisette Amon, a Jona, a KZ tandingan, a Kyla, etc., all the new, incredibly talented singers we have here. She has been performing like that for the past 30 years!
ONE OF THE GREATEST REACTIONS I'VE EVER HEARD FOR QUITE SOMETIME...YES SHE REALLY IS A GREAT PERFORMER...NO DOUBT ABOUT IT...BEEN SINGING FOR 32 LONG YEARS...HOW IS THAT MAN?!...BUT ANYWAYS THANK YOU FOR YOUR VERY CRITICAL ANALYSIS OF HER PERFORMANCE...IT MEANS A LOT FOR US FILIPINOS WHO LOVE REGINE...OUR QUEEN!😊
ohhh yes! She always always rips my heart out! In all the best ways. She is to me what music is about! Just Make make me feel something, is what I need when I listen to an artist. It could be escapism, joy, happiness, frustration, love. Just make me feel. I hope you listen to her performance of "What Kind of Fool Am I" she's in a red dress sitting on a floor and sick, but it is without a doubt one of the most emotional performances I've ever seen in my life! I will link it. (hopefully I find the right link!)
Terri im glad that u have respect to our Queen. Same respect that our Queen also have to your Black Legendary Singers. Regine is an inspiration to all our younger singers including Queen Mori, your fav singer..
I love how you react. Very technical and heartfelt. I got goosebumps while listening to the song and hearing your comments from time to time....Regine is absolutely a storyteller!
She's Philippines' Pride. On the League of Barbra Streisand, Mariah, Whitney, and Celine. She earned her title from the Asian Press and not from her fans that's why she's called Asia's songbird. The most beautiful vocal chord ever produced in the Philippines. The most beautiful singer in the PH too. She's so pleasing to hear and watch.
Better listen her voice once in HighRes or at least in CD quality and you will find out why she is so special. As the musical composer of Yentle (Barbra Streisand), Michel Legrand, described working with Regine Velasquez, "It's tough to sing a song after Barbra Streisand, I will tell you. But to sing with Regine is, I'm in heaven...."
You didn't disappoint me Carl.. You're the best vocal coach reactor I've heard so far. Not because you've said nice things about Regine but you're genuine. Thanks! 😊
Shes 48 now, coach. Watch and listen her videos during her younger years. You will be amazed. She set standards in philippine vocal range. Shes the queen of all divas in the philippines.
I really love the way you give your emphasis on your reaction based on what you hear and see on every performance your are watching..... I do not know the technical terms or whatever it is in the field of arts of music and singing, but every-time you give your views really interest me and I'm able to comprehend and understand why certain techniques or way of singing be done like that.. hehehe! ^_^ New subs here. HOPE TO WATCH MORE REACTION VIDEO ON REGINE VELASQUEZ PERFORMANCE. More, more , more please!!!
I love your honesty and technicality, Carl. Fantards will never appreciate what you share but please don't stop. The world needs more people like you. You got another subscriber here.
David Aguilar It's not "more prouder". That's redundant. It must be "prouder" alone or "more proud". Anyway, I mentioned Morissette because he wonders if Regine is an influence to Morissette. He is asking that so I put this comment. (0:33)
She sang with Mori, saying that its now her time to shine, she is so proud of her and she then called her “The Queen” both are amazing, and I’m happy to see talent appreciating talent. It’s not a competition, but a mission to spread the shared love for music.
Not only Ms Regine, there are others as well in a different league. Just to name a few, Ms. Lea Salonga, Ms. Kuh Ledesma, Ms. Ivy Violan, Ms. Dulce, Ms. Vernie Vargas, etc. I believe a good singer is a well rounded one who learns from and appreciate other singers of bygone era.. I was born in a golden era of musicality in the Philippines were we just take home the crown from every respectable singing competition all around the world.
First time I’ve watched this performance by Regine, so thanks for that Carl! It was quite a sincere and emotional song by her... as usual. I’m quite amazed at how she seems to give her 100 percent every time.
If you really want to hear great performances by the Asia's Songbird - Regine Velasquez: 1. What Kind of Fool am I (Best live singer in the world) 2. Piece of Sky 3. Sometime, Somewhere 4. I dont wanna miss a thing 5. GO THE DISTANCE (latest version, LOS ANGELES US TOUR) 6. Ne me quitte pas/If you go away And many more... I REALLY HOPE YOULL REACT WITH THESE AMAZING PERFORMANCE VIDEOS. 31 yrs in the music industry soaring as the Asias Songbird. The best selling filipino artist and has influenced and discovered most of the filipino artists now. International musical personalities were impressed with her talent. She had some collaborations. And also received a lot of international recognitions. Thank you.
I'd rather call her empress than a queen...I mean it's like she already build her empire.... she's absolutely one of a kind😍😍😍 I so loooove youuu ate Reg😍😍😍
Patrick Hachey Patrick, my 2 cents...I've been singing for 40 plus years, and it still frustrates me. I was on the verge of giving it up when I found Coach here. He encouraged me and by following many of his exercises and drills I have taken it to the next level. It never came easy to me. There is a lot of weight on the mental part of it....if you can hum a song in tune, you can sing. I encourage you to practice and most importantly to find your own voice. My apologies if this unsolicited advise is an annoyance. ...cheers.
I do think it does have to do with natural born talent, some are great singers, others are great painters, problem solvers, mathematicians, etc... But if you are interested this video explains really well why Filipino singers are some of the best singers in the world. No shade on other countries, if there was a video for them I’d be linking it as well. This is just to give some insight on why Regine, Morisette, Marcelito Pimoy, and Jed Mandela are such effortless singers. Hope this helps! th-cam.com/video/mlH5KOA75pg/w-d-xo.html
Haha.. these divas started very young.. Regine dipped in the sea to practice at 4, Charice already participated in contests at 6 to help out family, Sarah dipped in tub and sang at contests as a child, and Morissette picked up the karaoke mic on her own and sang at 3.. we normal people (even Filipinos who know somewhat how to sing) don't hold a candle to any of them....
Shes THE QUEEN, And shes around already and having her empire even before these great singers came.. Shes a queen for almost 40 years and counting.. everyone in the philippines looks up to her.. shes on a league of her own.. and thats just not enough to describe her influence.
Regine's career is older than Morisette's. She has inspired younger singers in the Philippines. She was telling the story of the song. Her father just died before this concert. Very emotional and vulnerable arrangement of this song. First time I heard this version, I wept. Bravo!
Her professional singing career started at around 1983/'84, when she was just a teenager. She also won the grand prize at the Asia Song Festival 1988 ('89? Memory fails old me). Morissette & countless other artists cite her as an influence. She has worked with a few artists in and around Asia & has a duet with The Hof (David Hasselhof) back in the 90s (you might be able to find the music vid here on YT) which actually sounds really good.
Well-thought out reaction, Carl! ♥️Regine V is THE Philippine songstress. She started out winning in a TV singing show, Ang Bagong Kampeon. Then she joined the industry as a singer and teen actress. In 1989, she won in the Asia-Pacific Song Festival with her soulful renditions of the songs, ‘What Kind of Fool Am I? and ‘And I Am Telling You I’m Not Going.’ Probably she’s the most celebrated belter, most talked about singing sensation, and the most emulated singer in the country, giving rise to a multitude of Regine V clones who all want to sound like her. She was the idol and the peg of many Filipinos when it comes to singing competitions. And so she launched the careers of younger singers who followed her lead, winning in TV singing shows she hosted, producing the likes of Sarah Geronimo, Rachelle Ann Go. Morisette Amon, Angeline Quinto, Katrina Velarde - they sound like her and are skillful popular singers now. Regine V had a wonderful backstory: a poor girl in the province who was taught techniques by his father in singing - the most famous of which was to submerge her under water (at the beach), with only the face sticking out as she vocalizes to strengthen her lungs. With her Cinderella story, humble attitude, warm & shining personality, porcelain skin and pretty Oriental beauty to match her effortless belting techniques, she had that mass appeal and years later became a Philippine gay icon the way Cher is. Perhaps every cross dressing gay in the Philippines fantasizes to look like the Miss Universe from the country but sings ala Regine V. So that’s how famous she actually is. 😍
She is the inspiration of many young singers here in the Philippines. Such as Morisette, Sarah G and many others. She just celebrated her 30 years in the business last oct 2017. 2 nights sold out concert
Regine is the peg of every diva of today in the Philippines, morisette jona and angeline and sarah etc included. Thank you and there are so many songs she has killed in her 30 years as Asia's Songbird! I adore her, so do many many people not just in the phils.
She sang better when she was younger .. Clear voice .. But her talent doesn't fade over the years .. It just her voice has added some 'raspy' with it .. Thanks for analysis.
VE-LAS-KEZ yes, she's titled as Asia's song bird here in PH. She is one of Morissette's inspiration in singing. She was one of the special guest in Morissette's concert in February this year.
Asia’s songbird. All the new younger singers in the Philippines look up to her. She set the bar high for Filipino singers. Please stop calling her this girl give respect pleas after all she’s been in the industry for 30 years.
I Subscribe because of Regine.. looking forward to see more her. ☺ and also because I know youre an expert .. im so impressed with the way you analyze artist..
I hope you can react to a video in her prime and tell us a comparison oh how her voice changes throughout the years. Shes been in the industry for 32 years
Hahaha! She's amazing cause every younger singers here in the Philippines look up to her. She's been around for more than 30 years in showbiz new. She's not only a singer, she's also an actress and a tv host. Regine just celebrated her 30th concert last year. You are amazing too Franz for giving an honest and fair opinion. Love you Man!😁💞
She was dubbed "Asia's Songbird".. we have a great many talents (world-class if you may) over the years .. Lea Salonga (Broadway/Olivier Awardee), Charice (remember?), Sarah Geronimo (mostly local), Yeng Constantino, Jaya, Pilita Corrales, etc etc... have I not mentioned Morisette? Just needs a little digging, you'll find gems..
She influence all singers esp the new singers such as morisette,sarah,angeline,yeng,kz..and a lot more..shes the Queen of Queens...aside from that shes so humble..thats whats sooo amazing about her...she guides new divas..we love her dearly
She is the Queen of all female filipino singers...known as The Asia's Songbird and very good in making story telling....every female singer wants to be like her..
I believed this is her first concert without her father in the audience. Her father "Mang Jerry" is with our God now. Her emotions are superb whenever she perform. She tells us a story while she sings. Only in the Philippines. Our Queen! Our Asia's Songbird!
She is a diva in the Philippines. A lot of of young singers including Morisette, look up to her and has some of her singing styles. She has been singing and very famous for 30 years now.
Yes. Regine Velasquez is the idol of all singers of Philippines like Morissette. They all looked up to Regine. She is one of the rare legends around the world.
You’re a compelling persuasive vocal coach. Your concepts of “singing bright” or wider on high notes-as opposed to the more conventional and technically damaging notion of trying to sound (or coloring one’s tone to be) fuller, rounder, and darker-tells me that you’ve got keen understanding of the mechanics/physiology of singing as well as from a normative (or how “should” someone sound/sing) standpoint.
Morisette, sarah, kyla,kz,katrina amongst other looked up to our queen regine!!!...and gues what if only u could follow her you will see how humble she is...shes a queen and yet she always make it sure that shes reachable to those new artists....all of them during their concert always make it a point that regine will be there guest of honour and shell be there supporting each and everyone..she even give a number or two for them without talent fee...thats how she love new comers..so humble!!!you wil forever reign my queen!!
i was actually at this moment when she sung it. Her father just died a week ago when this concert was held. everybody inside the Colosseum feels her emotion.
She also won in an Asian singing competition (i think in 1989) in Hong Kong. And she recorded a song with an American balladeer (sorry i forget the name).
She is the Asia's Songbird! She is the idol of all the singers especially in the Philippines, she's been in the business for 30 years. She won at a singing contest in the 80's.
Regine Velasquez was dubbed Asia's Songbird and has been the Filipinos benchmark for belting and hitting high notes. She has been in the business for 35 years. Regine has tons of renditions that to this day most new comers would try to sing to showcase their vocal prowess especially in singing competitions, hence Morissette Amon who joined The Voice Philippines.
She’s Asia’s Songbird. Doesn’t matter what other people think. She has numerous awards and trophies, both from winning local and international singing contests when she was just starting, and that’s how she started actually. Her over 3 decades in the music business speaks for herself. So yes, she’s LEGIT. Even Maestro Michel LeGrand puts her in the same level with Barbra Streisand (vocally of course). This performance is already post prime for Regine. Her old performances are even more majestic.
Her emotions were genuine. Her father died just about two weeks before that concert. Her father was her vocal coach and was there in all her concerts. She is now 48yrs old and for more than 3 decades the top diva in the Philippines.
Jimi Pascual That’s right. So proud RV.
Yes and even me cried while watching this. That's the first concert after her father died.
She is the Queen Mother of all female singers in Philippines.
and male too =)
Ali Avila True! No doubt she's the Philippines' best selling artist of all time and reigning still as the Songbird of Asia.
Ali Avila 👍
Whilst Gary V is the King of all male singers in the Philippines
True
yes she influence Morissette and a lot of singers here in the Philippines.
Justine Ciron the owner of this vdo. Never know that.
I would like to correct when you said "a lot" because apparently the exact word would be "most" of the singers in the Philippines. HAHAHAH. 😆😆😆
yes
she is our queen, every song she sings her fans/audience expects a BOOM, sometimes she gives the boom most of the time she gives more than the boom. we are so proud of our songbird. thanks for the reaction...

qwerty59191 Yes!!! Her voice is solid metal voice man, like full power voice killed it.
She is the singer who introduced belting in the Philippines. Ask all Filipino singers you know, they will confirm how Regine influences them.
She's one of the backbone of the Philippines Music Industry... since 80's that why a lot of young great singers look up to her.. She's their inspirations not only the singers but mostly the entire regions..

Asia’s songbird. All the new younger singers in the Philippines look up to her. She set the bar high for Filipino singers. Please stop calling her this girl give respect pleas after all she’s been in the industry for 30 years.
2ne1blink87 Jack Why is calling her a girl disrespectful? I would love to be referred to as a girl!
Nicole Smart a lil bit. You don’t call/say/refer a male singer as a “this boy” probably “this guy” I was hoping he would say this lady instead
Stupid

She's not only a singer, she's also an actress and a tv host. Regine just celebrated her 30th concert last year. You are amazing too Franz for giving an honest and fair opinion. Love you Man!😁💞
She's the one and only Asia's Song Bird!!!

Ali Moto 27
I think Morissette has her own style.
She is the Queen of all female filipino singers...known as The Asia's Songbird and very good in making story telling....every female singer wants to be like her..
Who could anyone has the guts to say that this performance is garbage???🤔🤔🤔
Reactor m angel w/his white toyboy.
Mel Vin 🤣🤣

If you are crazy and out of your mind😂✌
I believed this is her first concert without her father in the audience. Her father "Mang Jerry" is with our God now. Her emotions are superb whenever she perform. She tells us a story while she sings. Only in the Philippines. Our Queen! Our Asia's Songbird!
If im not mistaken. Shes 44 or 45 here. And her acid reflux. Always comes often
Is that like your diarrhea of the mouth?
She is a diva in the Philippines. A lot of of young singers including Morisette, look up to her and has some of her singing styles. She has been singing and very famous for 30 years now.

Good job buddy! Big improvement with the reaction. Kudos! Bruh, can you please react to Regine Velasquez Araw Gabi Wish Bus. Thanks very much!
Yes. Regine Velasquez is the idol of all singers of Philippines like Morissette. They all looked up to Regine. She is one of the rare legends around the world.
Piece of a Sky by Regine please
Full of emotions... this is a concert she held right after her dad passed away...
You’re a compelling persuasive vocal coach. Your concepts of “singing bright” or wider on high notes-as opposed to the more conventional and technically damaging notion of trying to sound (or coloring one’s tone to be) fuller, rounder, and darker-tells me that you’ve got keen understanding of the mechanics/physiology of singing as well as from a normative (or how “should” someone sound/sing) standpoint.
regine velasquez A PIECE OF SKY!!!!!!
Please React to her singing “What kind of fool am i” . Thanks 🙏
Now that I’ve read the comments and know what she went through there it makes me teary eyed
You said, "similar skills to Morissette" well it is Regine who made that Morissette's skills. Lol
i was actually at this moment when she sung it. Her father just died a week ago when this concert was held. everybody inside the Colosseum feels her emotion.
Piece of sky - Regine Velasquez
She also won in an Asian singing competition (i think in 1989) in Hong Kong. And she recorded a song with an American balladeer (sorry i forget the name).
The legend songbird, brava Regine
She is the Asia's Songbird! She is the idol of all the singers especially in the Philippines, she's been in the business for 30 years. She won at a singing contest in the 80's.
She just lost her father this time.
Great analysis reaction Sir!👍👍
Queen Regine Velasquez is an icon & legend in Philippine music!🌟
Her duet with Morissete please!
Lights of the million mornings (highest version) is my fave of her song.
one of the best singer in the philippines
Regine Velasquez was dubbed Asia's Songbird and has been the Filipinos benchmark for belting and hitting high notes. She has been in the business for 35 years. Regine has tons of renditions that to this day most new comers would try to sing to showcase their vocal prowess especially in singing competitions, hence Morissette Amon who joined The Voice Philippines.
Velasquez you can Pronounce it as VELASKEZ
She’s Asia’s Songbird. Doesn’t matter what other people think. She has numerous awards and trophies, both from winning local and international singing contests when she was just starting, and that’s how she started actually. Her over 3 decades in the music business speaks for herself. So yes, she’s LEGIT. Even Maestro Michel LeGrand puts her in the same level with Barbra Streisand (vocally of course). This performance is already post prime for Regine. Her old performances are even more majestic.
She started it all, the belting, the yelling whatever you call it. She inspired all Filipina singers.
