These are awesome! It's interesting that there are no reviews on TH-cam on the first version of these, the ISL-127, 38mm version. That one sold out quickly!
Thanks for the review. I had been on a bit of a buying hiatus but that's moot now. I tried to hold off but I only lasted a few days before I had to add one of these to my collection.
The original Pogue dial is more orange gold which makes it special and give the impression that it is the crystal and not the dial that give the colour. All the reissue and homage somehow cannot achieve that effect.
Marc doesn't hide that these are using as many Seiko parts as possible. He mostly builds these after Seiko discontinued the SKX line. It's a tad odd that Seiko still makes the parts while not offering complete watches. Given Marc's prices and the upgrade crystal, I'll gladly support him.
I bought a 38mm Islander diver watch, saphire crystal, ceramic bezel insert, all full link bracelet and milled clasp, and for that price point I was positively surprised with the high level of build quality.
I just received mine last week. A really nice watch. I did not think it would fit my narrow wrist, but I was able to size the bracelet for a good fit. One thing that might be a downside is the weight. There's conflicting information on the webpage for this watch. The description tab says 173 grams, while the specs tab says 149 grams. Whatever it is, this is the heaviest watch I have. Perhaps not a problem at all; I just have not worn it for a full day yet. I agree with some of the other comments that the gold color of the dial should have been a closer match to the original pogue by Seiko, but it's still very nice. I'm sure this watch will attract some attention when I start to wear it often.
I purchased this watch. Unfortunately, my first purchase came with a misaligned rehaut/chapter ring. Long Island did quickly provide a replacement. Unfortunately, the rehaut/chapter ring was misaligned on the second one as well😞 The second watch was slightly less misaligned. So, I accepted it🤷🏻♂️ Everything else about the watch is of great quality. Very comfortable to wear. I imagine the color way is a required taste.
I have this watch and a gold Pogue. I wish Marc had done his dial a bit darker to more match the Pogue. Saying that I do like both watches quite a bit. I even did a comparison video of both on my channel for your viewing pleasure.
@@lowellleber1722 Is this islander a Pogue knockoff or a Seiko diver knockoff? Pretty sure its a diver with Pogue color dial. In that case (diver) it is a knockoff non ISO rated copy. Again-I would rather have a real ISO rated Seiko diver.
Unfortunately I don't like a Seiko homage, I don't get it to be true, why one should buy these when the official seiko is offering many models and on the other hand there are pro modders out there that can make your preferred design. On the other hand the guy who runs this Co is a really nice guy. I hope they make big changes, starting from the logo and the name, down to every other detail, and hopefully make their own watches. There are microbrands that are killing it right now, why not try to join them, brands like Farer, ChrWard, Monta, Zelos, Formex.
islander watches are slowly getting there. Finally no date versions. But rarely if ever, the 100% of the time highly desired exhibition case backs, almost always missing. Boring indices. And the prices are always too high for the nh35 movement.

@@KMV007 neither are my cup of tea but I couldn't care less if people like them or buy them. But Steihart and Island Watches are completely different imo. Steihart is basically a copy/rip-off of a Rolex (they have great quality in terms of specs and materials, don't get me wrong). It's basically a Rolex lookalike with a different name written on the dial. Island Watches use different colours on the dials, different bezels and hand combinations, different bracelets, etc - that generally were never released by Seiko. I mean, look at the one on the video. Seiko never released a 38mm diver with the same colourway. And the colourway is based on the Pogue but you can tell it's not a Pogue from a mile away. Some models are very similar yes, like the regular all black divers that look basically the same as the SKX. But as I said, I couldn't care less if people buy one or the other. Wear whatever makes you happy.
They have started making their own designs. A big reason Marc started offering these was because Seiko isn't offering SKX divers these days. I'd gladly consider a 38mm SKX, for the usual price, but not being made AND I don't want to pay $1,000 for a NOS or used SKX.

Bought this the day it went on sale. Instantly became one of my favorites and has spent a ton of time on my wrist.
Dig my 38mm version of this. Very summertime IMO. Nice no date quick set beater watch.
