This happened to me a few weeks ago. Spontaneous pneumothorax. Woke up fine then 10 minutes later i was laid on the sofa struggling to breath with intense check pain. Ended up in hospital for 3 days with a chest drain in. And to top it off i was in the house by myself so had to phone the ambulance for myself while trying to breath.
@@jovitaach17 i got told i had a 20% chance of it happening again and then i might have to have an operation to close the inner hole. but is wasn't to cut a chunk off. Just cover the injured bit with something to stop it happening again.
This happened to me about 15 days ago, I’m still currently in the hospital and they just removed my chest drain my hole in my lung took so long to heal and all the air was trapped in my body for days. Long process and 3days you got it lucky. The problem now is it can happens to us anytime again.

Got a chest tube inserted for a week 'till it dissapeared. Doctors haven't figured out why it happened.
i have had two episodes of spontaneous pneumothorax 1rst one on the left lung in 2012 got that treated with chest tube insertion 2nd one on right lung in 2015 this time had to undergo surgery (Bullectomy) and now again iam having chest pain its so frustrating

Im trying so hard to understand pneumothorax after having it 2 times, i underwent surgery a few weeks ago and was released from hospital last week. I had 2 tubes connected for 17 days, and when they took them out after a few days of no leakage, it was only partially successful because the tubes had been there for so long that on a painscale of 1-10, it was way above 10, and not a 4 as the doctor said. I didnt get any painkillers or anything else, i just had to endure. And so air got trapped back in because the pain after the first tube being taken out was unreal, and i was sent home the day after with 6.5cm of air outside my lung, but after xray 3 days ago it was down to 4cm. Now im hoping the next xray in almost 2 weeks will be gone. But they didnt say carbondioxide, they just said air. Ive learned more on youtube than any doctor or nurse has ever told me.
@@osmosis It definitely was. I hope sometime in the future they will find more causes as to what can cause a pneumothorax to happen. Both times ive had it happen to me, my body was either sleeping in a weird position, or stretched in a twisted angle.
@@EricTheBroBean Nope. The air you breath flows into your lungs, not in your pleural space. Only in case your visceral pleura is damaged air can flow in the pleural space, causing a spontaneous pneumothorax.
I was sat at my desk two days ago eating some crackers when I got hit with spontaneous pneumothorax. Thought it was a heart issue but glad it wasn't. Going in for a second check-up tomorrow to see if I need treatment or not :(
@@mario-ly9mk totally forgot I commented here, but at the time the doctor had me hospitalized for 2 weeks while they helped my collapsed lung re expand with a tube inserted into my chest. It hurt a little to cough and breathe at times A year later I’m all good now :) nothing has happened since, I’ve been able to go running and lift weights without any issues. It can be a bit scary if it happens to you but after the chest tube insertion it’s mainly just laying down in a bed watching TH-cam till your lungs get it together; the doctors were all very kind

I'm in the process of getting diagnosed with marfan syndrome and my cardiologist really thinks I have it( I have pretty much all the symptoms, but a good heart. And some enzyme of mine is way too high, which is often a sign of mfs apparently). I have a 4+ haller index for pectus excavatum. one day I suddenly was having a significantly harder time breathing and kept feeling sharp stabbing pains every day for like a week, and one night I almost passed out from lack of oxygen while doing absolutely nothing but sitting down trying to catch my breath. I kept getting told, "it could just be gas in your chest" by my parents and the lady who did my echocardiogram, but this is literally gas in the chest and I was having the hard time breathing, in addition to pain in my back and shoulders. Holy frick, wow, this could have been it :0

yes losing a lot of weight seems to be one of the main reasons.
