    You should teach professors how to teach! I sat through a 4 hour lecture on this topic and came out more confused! I listened to your video and it totally made sense! Thank you for what you do! You are truly a life saver and are helping me get through nursing school!

    First of all, I just want to say how thankful I am for these videos. I recommend your videos to all my friends who are in nursing school and to those who are about to take their NCLEX . While i was studying for my exam, I would always watch your NCLEX playlist as my review and would play it in the background while doing chores. Ive recently taken the exam and passed it!! Your acid base videos and the mnemonics associated with them were so amazing. I will always remember "acidotic" "alkali" "depress" and "tachypnea" and your tic tac toe method. Thank you so much from the bottom of my heart. You helped me pass NCLEX.

      Congratulations on passing NCLEX, Jamie! THANK YOU very, very much for coming back to let me know my videos helped you prepare for NCLEX...that is so awesome! I'm so happy you liked my mnemonics....they definitely make learning easier and more interesting. I wish you the best in your nursing career as a nurse, and again thank you very much for taking the time to watch my videos. Congrats to you :) I hope you have a Merry Christmas!

    I had a Spontaneous Pneumothorax. I'm not sure if it was primary or secondary as I'm a 5ft1 45 yr old female smoker for 20 yrs. I couldn't breathe fora week, my boss at work pushed me to go to ER by ambulance and after a chest X-ray was told I needed a chest tube immediately. Couldn't believe it! Ended up in the hospital for 14 days and on the 8th day, had VATS Pleurodesis. Never smoking or vaping again. But I'm afraid to exercise, run, use a trampoline, travel you name it. I read that there's a 50% chance of it happening again. Dear God.

    Thank you very much for this video! As someone who has recently experienced a spontaneous pneumothorax this lecture has been a huge help in understanding exactly what happened that day. The local hospital system here in northern Colorado really needs to make your series mandatory for all of their ER nurses. I was lucky that >one< of the nurses knew what she was looking at. None of the other personnel had any idea. You're doing a wonderful service with this series. Thanks again!

    I’m 24 years old and have had 5 spontaneous pneumothorax over the course of 7-8 years. 7 chest tubes placed, 4 minor 3 major and have had a pluerodesis done. My most recent was the 4th of May this year. Nobody can tell me why this keeps happening to me so I guess I’m just gonna be dealing with this for the rest of my life. Can’t explain how fed up I am with this.

    hi, when you study for exit hesi which book did you read? I have both books u recommended . I have less than 4 weeks to prepare .reading and comparing both books plus watching your videos. I like it but I find more time consuming and having less time practicing questions .. which book should I focos on the hesi or the Saunders book? what Is your recommendations? .. thank you in advance!!!

    • @RegisteredNurseRN
      @RegisteredNurseRN  8 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      Hello :) For the exit HESI specifically, I read the HESI book mainly, but I used the Saunders software (which comes with the Saunders book) to practice NCLEX questions. The exit HESI book didn't contain that many review questions as compared to Saunders.
      Be sure you pay close attention to the HESI hints in the book (questions come from this material) and the end of the chapter questions. What I done was I would read a section in the exit HESI book....say respiratory and then I would practice strictly respiratory questions by selecting this on the Saunders software. It really helped me! Since you have 4 weeks to prep (which is plenty of time)...practice questions everyday and make a study outline of what areas you plan to study and start with the areas you struggle with. Also, of courses, take the questions the HESI book came with as well. I wish you the best on it! I hope that helps :)

      Yes, absolutely! I plan to tackle these topics very soon...currently I'm wrapping up some other videos but these are most definitely on my list.

    I have a question. Is there another name for a closed pneumothorax? I have looked through my textbook and it never mentions "closed" pneumothorax. Thanks!

      Your book will probably refer to it as "spontaneous"...which is a type of closed pnemuo because there is no damage to the chest wall which contributed to the pneumo. I hope that helps. Thank you for watching the video :)

      It may fall under primary pneumothorax as the subpleural blebs undergo rupture.
