Fantastic job Steve. My band is going to do this song. I came straight to you and voila! Here it is. And you killed it as usual. Thank you for being such a great teacher! ❤
I'm still listening for someone to play that middle section at 4:20 the way the drummer played it on the record. It might not be possible there were likely overdubs
Your tom's sounded nice and deep on those quick fills and your stick twirls once again made me laugh 😄. Thanks for bringing back 1976 with that song...
Stick twirling is a habit, but what’s fake about it? There are lots of stick twirl methods. This is just one of them. Anyway, thanks for watching and commenting.
Amazing! You’re so good. I wish I could channel your skills into my body. I’ve always wanted to learn the drums. I believe I can do the arms, but adding the feet with cymbals and bass just boggles my mind trying to process! You must be super coordinated.
Thanks for your kind, supportive comment! I've been playing drums my entire adult life. I may look coordinated when I play but I am NOT a very coordinated person. I was a terrible athlete. Thanks again!!!
Steve Tocco You’re welcome! Supportiveness is one of my super powers! Btw, I especially love the part beginning at 4:25 because it looks challenging and you get to really pound on the drums!
I agree. Often time drummers completely omit fills or over embellish. IMO, if it's called a "cover" play it as the original. Otherwise, call it a rendition. 👍🏼 Steve nailed this cover.
Thank you. I did not play on the bell during the chorus because that's not what the original drummer played. I tried to stay close to the original recording in this video.
That's was a great choice for REO. The key solo is my all time favorite for keys. Have you seen the TH-cam video about Gary Richrath? Too bad he is so under accredited for his playing, he was a bas ass.
@@SteveToccoDrummer my answer comes little late but there it goes.... Quit your basement!!!!! form an amateur band with some friends and get a gig in a bar, just for fun. I play the drums my self and i'll never be as good as you are but i'm quite happy playing with my friends every Friday night. Playing with a band is a lot better than playing alone. Great cover by the way.
I may have misrepresented myself. I’ve been playing semi-professionally in live bands for 40 years. I am currently in five bands-a classic rock/new rock/new country band, a funk R&B band, a blues/jazz band, a jazz quartet and a Tool tribute band. My drum covers are my hobby. Thank you!
Thank you! A stick twirling tutorial?? I'm not that good at stick tricks so I'm afraid such a tutorial will suck. Then again, it might be fun to watch myself flail around and possibly impale my eye with a flying stick!!!
Thank you!! I don't use a DAW or an audio interface. My recording method is very low tech--I plug an assortment of old mics into an analog Yamaha mixer. I also plug my iPhone into the mixer (with the song I am playing along with). The output of the mixer goes directly into a Zoom Q4 camera. It's all done "live". No post production, no syncing, no EQ, no compression. Like I said, very low tech. Here's an overview if you're curious: th-cam.com/video/IfhcctBpxSA/w-d-xo.html
I've watched at least 5 drummers on youtube cover this and yours is BY FAR the best one I've seen. Pretty much perfect. Excellent job, man.
Thank you!!!!
Sigh..........Ear Ecstasy Galore...😊😊😊!!!
Put of watching for a while ( Delayed Gratification) lol!!! EXCELLENT COVER WORK, STEVE!!!!!🤗👍
Wow. First find that has all the triplets at the 04:25 mark. I have been looking for a while. Great find. Well done!👋👊👏
Fantastic job Steve. My band is going to do this song. I came straight to you and voila! Here it is. And you killed it as usual. Thank you for being such a great teacher! ❤
I like how you calmly kept the groove - excellent!
...🎧🌹🎶🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟💙
Congratulations! Very Good!🎵🍀✔️
Steve you did a great job playing this song. Nice solid groove. I also like the way you did not over play the fills. Awesome job! 😊👍🥁
I'm still listening for someone to play that middle section at 4:20 the way the drummer played it on the record.
It might not be possible there were likely overdubs
Nice job,
but no one ever
nails that last roll
One of the top ten
best rock drum licks
of all time
This cover is killer man. Great work.
Thank you!!!
Amazing

Thank you!!! I'm glad this video helped you learn the song.
real good
The cymbals sound 😍
Thank you!
Super bro!!!
piola!
Nice work...especially on the tail end!
Thanks, Kevin!!!! I hope you and R are well.
You are a great drummer! There is no need for fake stick twirls… especially those that aren’t very good either!

Awesome grooves man!
Thank you!
Superb Steve, very well played and very enjoyable....how about a bit of Barracuda?
Scrap that just found your Barracuda vid.....awesome !
Nicely Done! Clean, no extra fanfaire just the piece as its played. (Maybe a little extra stick twirls but thats never a bad thing!)
Thank you!!!! Stick twirling is my only "flashy" move. LOL!
I agree. Often time drummers completely omit fills or over embellish. IMO, if it's called a "cover" play it as the original. Otherwise, call it a rendition. 👍🏼 Steve nailed this cover.
Mr. Tocco do you play in a band?
Great Play. Do you feel the urge to ride the bell with accents during "crazy only you" chorus? To me it feels right. Your playing is great also!!
Thank you. I did not play on the bell during the chorus because that's not what the original drummer played. I tried to stay close to the original recording in this video.
Great cover. REO Speedwagon is my favorite. please do a cover of one of there songs.
Thank you!! Ask you you shall receive!!! Here's an REO Speedwagon song: th-cam.com/video/4R_Njds18ac/w-d-xo.html

Nice drum cover! You can go far if you stick at it. :D
Thank you! I've stuck at it (drums) for several decades. I think I've gone just about as far as I can go.
At my age I don't see myself going much further than my basement! Thank you!!

This is so good. Can you do a stick twirling tutorial?

Great cover! By chance could you tell me what daw and audio interface you're using? Need some ideas. Thanks.

Great job but we don’t need the fake stick roll!
How long did it take you to do this?
I've known this song for 40 years so I recorded this video in one take.
