What Happened To Skee-Lo?

In this video, I talk about the life and career of Skee-Lo, the creator/producer of the 1995 album "I Wish." We cover his experiences working for a record label in the '90's, the backlash of being a "one-hit wonder," and what he would go on to do past his cultural peak.

i think why "i wish" was so awesome, because it was literally the alternative for all rap music - while most rap or hip-hop songs were just edgy or just "oh hey look how cool i am", skee-lo showed a that he's not the best, he has problems - unlike others, and it was so relatable, even having kind of a sad chord progression, which is so awesome, i hope people will extend this genre.

During that time when nearly Hip-Hop song was influenced by the then Gangsta Rap trend, this song was a relief to hear. I wish Skee Lo continued success despite what that label did to him. There are so many other recording artists from his era that was done dirty by shady record labels.

I first heard of Skee-Lo in 2002 because of his song At The Mall was played on radio station Power 612. I never heard "I wish" before.
