Bloody Shrine It’s really not rare at all tho tbh. What with the influx of emo rap and rappers such as Tyler the creator, Juice Wrld, Earl Sweatshirt, and Mac Miller. Granted these guys each brag at times, their bars regarding their discontentment with who they are feel real and should not be overlooked
I don’t see why those supposed “artists” shouldn’t be overlooked. That irritating, excessively auto tuned sound should be abolished. The promotion of that supposed music just encourages more talentless crap.
As far as I know, Tyler, Earl, and Mac Miller don't use a autotune. You sound like an oldie who just assumes every new school rapper is the same. Very ignorant and narrow-minded.
Well I guess I’m an oldie, along with the multitudes who have good taste. It’s just that anytime I listen to any new rapper, they seem to be using the same style, and the auto tune technique is excessively over used. So i don’t see why you expect me to have a good attitude about the current music scene, when way too many are playing follow the leader.
Oh yeah, I had a listen to those “artists” and they are nothing that makes you want to come back and listen again. Mac Miller sounds like a bragging self absorbed douchebag, juice world is just flat out irritating and Tyler The Creator... I’ve heard too many use that same style of rap delivery. The other thing that bugs me about these new hip hop tunes is, instrumentally they suck. Good rap music should have a good rhythm section in the mix, that makes your head bop, and that is totally lacking in a lot of new songs. Sure there are probably a lot of trendies who make these trend chasers go viral on TH-cam, but that doesn’t make them anything fantastic.
I don't give a damn about swearing in fact I love using curse words but it feels so fresh when I hear a song that's not just swear words and swear words over and over but actually coming up with interesting words

Wait do you even listen to hip-hop? This was 1995. Rap began in the late 80's. Like i do not even know where to begin rn. There was literally a sub genre of rap called "jazz rap" that started in the early 90's. Groups like tribe literally sampled "vintage" jazz records and created a very melodic sound. This song is not ahead of its time in any universe. His flow is his own and its unique but it is not ahead of its time as there were dozens of groups that came before him that sampled vintage records and even popularized it. It is a great track dont get me wrong but like idk you actually think this is like the only hip-hop artist on the planet or you just genuinely do not listen to hip-hop. I am using tribe as an example because they are quite a famous and influential group and they were pumping out very melodical rap since like 89 and onward. And also what does "musical theory to support flow and words" even mean lol. They were just fitting their sound to the beat. I am also certain they did not know concepts of "music theory". Besides even if you make a "bad song" music theory still exists whether you know it or not. And you use it whether you know it or not. Like simply playing two chords that sound nice together is technically music theory.

90's rap had this vibe that was lost as we transitioned into the new Millennium. I don't hate modern rap, quite the opposite actually, but I just love that smooth flow. It's chill, laid back tones are somewhat relaxing.
I hate modern rap. Typically I don't like modern music in general. It's my generation's music. "I Wish" I had been born 20 years earlier. 80s/90s hip hop is real nostalgic for me.
@@xxxod No most of the metalheads I know are elitist arseholes who won't listen to anything that isn't 100% screaming. I don't secretly like rap, why would I pretend not to like a genre of music?
@@nope110 I honestly don't really know how to add on to my original statement. The initial comment is most of what I have to say. Metalheads do like some rap songs, you can't force yourself to not like every song from a genre is what I mean. There are some exceptions, but metalheads don't regularly listen to rap so that's why they don't say they are rap fans or whatever.
@@xxxod When I was a metalhead when i was young I felt that pressure, like you can't like that disco music because you are tough you listen to metal you have to keep it that way. Then I learned that most of my idols listen to rap and pop because they are musicians and they appreciate every kind of music. So I became open minded and find out rap is awesome some pop songs are awesome being a metalhead narrows you down.
I'm no rap fan, but I just love this one and some more of this rap era, these tracks are incredible, once you rap this it raps itself in your head for hours. Excellent stuff.
Its 2019 and this song just randomly popped in my head so I had to watch the video....song used to be the jam back in the day even though i was super young lol!!!

Always went down well in the UK, as it is an essential part of our culture to be self-deprecating. If you’re not, you can be sure your best mates will be the first to take the piss and cut you down to size. British humour with a banging hook with that four chord horns progression.
One of very few rapsongs I like! It has Melody, catchyness, good vibes, is clever, with warmth and humour and unpretensious. Qualities which is rare in rap
This song is so pure and wholesome, dude doesn't even swear once! It's just a nice song about man's wishes. I have never found a better rap song. It's sad that soundcloud rappers have fucked up rapping as a genre as music mostly. :/
@Den Bergkamp That's true. Some of my original favorite rap artists started making worse songs after 2011, and I just gave up on the rap genre in 2013.
Some Soundcloud rappers are good, it's just that the mainstream market has been saturated with trash. You gotta look a little deeper to find the good stuff.
Genie: "You get 3 wishes" Me : "I wish I was a little bit taller, I wish I was a baller, I wish I had a girl that looked good, I would call her" Genie: "Great taste in music, wishes granted."
As someone who was like 15 around the time of this song, I can fully say that the 90s were better time. Then again it's all perspective I guess. Some of the knocks I hear from people are that it kind of sucked because of not being connected through the internet social media and cell phones and all that but honestly as far as I can remember we all still felt very connected just in a different way. A telephone (preferably cordless) was all you needed. Then you had to use a little planning to clique up but other than that things were pretty cool lol
Because you’re not digging deep enough. There is loads of great hip hop now but most of the time it isn’t mainstream, if you want I can give you some albums

lyrics: I wish I was a little bit taller I wish I was a baller I wish I had a girl who looked good, I would call her I wish I had a rabbit in a hat with a bat And a six four Impala I wish I was like six-foot-nine So I can get with Leoshi 'Cause she don't know me but yo she's really fine You know I see her all the time everywhere I go And even in my dreams I can scheme a way to make her mine 'Cause I know she's livin phat Her boyfriend's tall and he plays ball So how am I gonna compete with that? 'Cause when it comes to playing basketball I'm always last to be picked And in some cases never picked at all So I just lean up on the wall Or sit up in the bleachers with the rest of the girls Who came to watch their men ball Dag y'all! I never understood, black Why the jocks get the fly girls and me I get the hood rats I tell em "scat, skittle, scabobble" Got hit with a bottle And I been in the hospital for talkin' that mess I confess it's a shame when you living in a city That's the size of a box and nobody knows yo' name Glad I came to my senses Like quick-quick got sick-sick to my stomach Overcommeth by the thoughts of me and her together Right? So when I asked her out she said I wasn't her type I wish I was a little bit taller I wish I was a baller I wish I had a girl who looked good, I would call her I wish I had a rabbit in a hat with a bat And a six four Impala I wish I was a little bit taller I wish I was a baller I wish I had a girl who looked good, I would call her I wish I had a rabbit in a hat with a bat And a six four Impala I wish I had a brand-new car So far, I got this hatchback And everywhere I go, yo, I gets laughed at And when I'm in my car I'm laid back I got an 8-track and a spare tire in the backseat, but that's flat And do you really wanna know what's really whack? See I can't even get a date, so, what do you think of that? I heard that prom night is a bomb night With the hood rats you can hold tight But really though, I'm a Figaro When I'm in my car I can't even get a hello Well, so many people wanna cruise Crenshaw on Sunday Well, then I'mma have to get in my car and go You know I take the 110 until the 105 Get off at Crenshaw, tell my homies "look alive" 'Cause it's hard to survive when your living In a concrete jungle and these girls keep passing me by She looks fly, she looks fly Makes me say "my, my, my" I wish I was a little bit taller I wish I was a baller I wish I had a girl who looked good, I would call her I wish I had a rabbit in a hat with a bat And a six four Impala I wish I was a little bit taller I wish I was a baller I wish I had a girl who looked good, I would call her I wish I had a rabbit in a hat with a bat And a six four Impala I wish I was a little bit taller I wish I was a baller I wish I was a little bit taller I wish I was a baller I wish I was a little bit taller I wish I was a baller I wish I was a little bit taller I wish I was a baller Hey, I wish I had my way 'Cause everyday would be a Friday And you could even speed on the highway I would play ghetto games Name my kids ghetto names Little Mookie, Big Al, Lorraine Yo you know that's on the real So if you're down on your luck Then you should know just how I feel 'cause if you don't want me around See I go simple, I go easy, I go Greyhound Hey, you, what's that sound? Everybody look what's going down Ah yes, ain't that fresh? Everybody wants to get down like that I wish I was a little bit taller I wish I was a baller I wish I had a girl who looked good, I would call her I wish I had a rabbit in a hat with a bat And a six four Impala I wish I was a little bit taller I wish I was a baller I wish I had a girl who looked good, I would call her I wish I had a rabbit in a hat with a bat And a six four Impala you’re welcome 💕💕

I don't even like rap, I'm a metal head, but this song is just so good
Metalheads say the same thing about Eminem. You secretly do like rap if you're a metalhead, but most songs you probably don't like.

They destroyed the rap music genre somewhere between 2005-2011 as far as I can remember.

As someone who was like 15 around the time of this song, I can fully say that the 90s were better time. Then again it's all perspective I guess. “The Era of music that REALLY related to everyday life”
I feel that 80's might just take that title.
plus people had game. artist didn't just rhyme words for the sake of it like eminem does, they had skill, a 90's thing and some 00's.
lyrics:
I wish I was a little bit taller
I wish I was a baller
I wish I had a girl who looked good, I would call her
I wish I had a rabbit in a hat with a bat
And a six four Impala
I wish I was like six-foot-nine
So I can get with Leoshi
'Cause she don't know me but yo she's really fine
You know I see her all the time everywhere I go
And even in my dreams I can scheme a way to make her mine
'Cause I know she's livin phat
Her boyfriend's tall and he plays ball
So how am I gonna compete with that?
'Cause when it comes to playing basketball
I'm always last to be picked
And in some cases never picked at all
So I just lean up on the wall
Or sit up in the bleachers with the rest of the girls
Who came to watch their men ball
Dag y'all! I never understood, black
Why the jocks get the fly girls and me I get the hood rats
I tell em "scat, skittle, scabobble"
Got hit with a bottle
And I been in the hospital for talkin' that mess
I confess it's a shame when you living in a city
That's the size of a box and nobody knows yo' name
Glad I came to my senses
Like quick-quick got sick-sick to my stomach
Overcommeth by the thoughts of me and her together
Right? So when I asked her out she said I wasn't her type
I wish I was a little bit taller
I wish I was a baller
I wish I had a girl who looked good, I would call her
I wish I had a rabbit in a hat with a bat
And a six four Impala
I wish I was a little bit taller
I wish I was a baller
I wish I had a girl who looked good, I would call her
I wish I had a rabbit in a hat with a bat
And a six four Impala
I wish I had a brand-new car
So far, I got this hatchback
And everywhere I go, yo, I gets laughed at
And when I'm in my car I'm laid back
I got an 8-track and a spare tire in the backseat, but that's flat
And do you really wanna know what's really whack?
See I can't even get a date, so, what do you think of that?
I heard that prom night is a bomb night
With the hood rats you can hold tight
But really though, I'm a Figaro
When I'm in my car I can't even get a hello
Well, so many people wanna cruise Crenshaw on Sunday
Well, then I'mma have to get in my car and go
You know I take the 110 until the 105
Get off at Crenshaw, tell my homies "look alive"
'Cause it's hard to survive when your living
In a concrete jungle and these girls keep passing me by
She looks fly, she looks fly
Makes me say "my, my, my"
I wish I was a little bit taller
I wish I was a baller
I wish I had a girl who looked good, I would call her
I wish I had a rabbit in a hat with a bat
And a six four Impala
I wish I was a little bit taller
I wish I was a baller
I wish I had a girl who looked good, I would call her
I wish I had a rabbit in a hat with a bat
And a six four Impala
I wish I was a little bit taller
I wish I was a baller
I wish I was a little bit taller
I wish I was a baller
I wish I was a little bit taller
I wish I was a baller
I wish I was a little bit taller
I wish I was a baller
Hey, I wish I had my way
'Cause everyday would be a Friday
And you could even speed on the highway
I would play ghetto games
Name my kids ghetto names Little Mookie, Big Al, Lorraine
Yo you know that's on the real
So if you're down on your luck
Then you should know just how I feel 'cause if you don't want me around
See I go simple, I go easy, I go Greyhound
Hey, you, what's that sound?
Everybody look what's going down
Ah yes, ain't that fresh?
Everybody wants to get down like that
