"I Wish" is a hip-hop song by rapper Skee-Lo released in 1995 as the first single from his debut album of the same name. The track peaked at number thirteen on the Billboard Hot 100, number fifteen in the United Kingdom and number four in Sweden and Norway.The song was nominated for Best Rap Solo Performance at the 1996 Grammy Awards.
In the song Skee-Lo is wishing for a girl, but she says he is not her type. He wishes he was more like her boyfriend, taller and a basketball player (baller). He also wishes for a better car, specifically a '64 Impala.
"I Wish" is heard in the 2006 film, American Pie Presents: The Naked Mile.
"I Wish" is also featured in the 2013 Super Bowl add of the Toyota RAV4.

The rarity of a rap tune that’s about discontentment rather than just bragging. Refreshing.
Bloody Shrine It’s really not rare at all tho tbh. What with the influx of emo rap and rappers such as Tyler the creator, Juice Wrld, Earl Sweatshirt, and Mac Miller. Granted these guys each brag at times, their bars regarding their discontentment with who they are feel real and should not be overlooked
I don’t see why those supposed “artists” shouldn’t be overlooked. That irritating, excessively auto tuned sound should be abolished. The promotion of that supposed music just encourages more talentless crap.
As far as I know, Tyler, Earl, and Mac Miller don't use a autotune. You sound like an oldie who just assumes every new school rapper is the same. Very ignorant and narrow-minded.
Well I guess I’m an oldie, along with the multitudes who have good taste. It’s just that anytime I listen to any new rapper, they seem to be using the same style, and the auto tune technique is excessively over used. So i don’t see why you expect me to have a good attitude about the current music scene, when way too many are playing follow the leader.
Oh yeah, I had a listen to those “artists” and they are nothing that makes you want to come back and listen again. Mac Miller sounds like a bragging self absorbed douchebag, juice world is just flat out irritating and Tyler The Creator... I’ve heard too many use that same style of rap delivery. The other thing that bugs me about these new hip hop tunes is, instrumentally they suck. Good rap music should have a good rhythm section in the mix, that makes your head bop, and that is totally lacking in a lot of new songs. Sure there are probably a lot of trendies who make these trend chasers go viral on TH-cam, but that doesn’t make them anything fantastic.
