- Eek! What an odd post bag which starts with a rather scary, very formal looking, reprimand from Defra! I feel thoroughly told off for something but don't know why. Never mind....the rest of the post is lovely......and the post to come is exciting too. It is to go to 21 degrees here today. Very odd for November anywhere in Canada. Tomorrow too, and it has been warm for the past week. YAY. We have been enjoying it greatly.

Oh, I remember the excitement of opening g a door on the advent calender - no chocolates in my younger days, either (I think I'm 1 year younger than you 🤔).
I am loving your Lockdown Challenges. What a brilliant & fun idea. I am SO going to have fun with the alphabet Challenge. I have some young members in my family, who are just learning their alphabet, so my thought was to do your challenge and then get them printed as photos (there's loads of companies that do this for a few quid), and post them to the Little Ones who can then line them up in (hopefully) the correct order. So excited about this one.
Week 1's challenge has been put on the back burner because out of all my family & friends I can't think of anyone who wouldn't think "Has she gone completely nuts?" However, I have an idea growing in my head of doing a little poem using newspaper letters, about how I miss seeing my friend, and ending with something like "And when we're through this fug, All I want is a hug!"

How wonderful is your advent calendar!! What’s 21? That’s my birthday 🥳 as a child I always got to open the calendar on my birthday. And my girls laugh at me for having a paper calendar, I buy myself one each year as it reminds me of childhood. My daughter has got me a candle calendar this year but I’m itching still to get a paper one. (Nativity scene a must)
I wrote to Dr Zeuss as a young girl and got a handwritten and signed reply!! Love it!!

Hello Vivi! I am not a morning person either. I worked graveyard for nearly 30 years. When I was forced of that shift after so many years it was hard to switch my sleeping schedule.
Sometimes my sisters want to go out early, I opt out, because I am not going to get ready and out the door by 8-9. ☺️
I love your calendars! I’ll have to get me a 2021 spiral weekly planner. One of my sisters got me one last year and I loved it for my garden notes.

Hahaha, I'd be the same as you in that situation......no getting me out of the door before 9 am!!! Makes me wonder how I ever managed to be out by 5.30 am when nursing! ;-)

Awww, I love the old fashioned ones......snow scenes, nativity scenes.....my book one sort of reminds me of those for being so simple. I can't wait for the first! :-)

You weren’t told off by the inspector but they are more warning you that stuff has to have whatever the approval to be shipped there. It’s good that they are keeping safe from disease spread but funny as u have had seeds from everywhere. LOL.
Maybe you can do a calendar giveaway contest. Or you can shuffle
Them and give each person who have given you one an alternative calendar back? LOL.
It's such a pity the seeds weren't labelled or certified properly......I totally understand why they were destroyed (yes, absolutely we need to ensure safety and stop the spread of pests and diseease)....it just seems such a waste. :-(
Vivi it will be fun to see what you create with the linens. I wonder if you and Kate could do a collaboration video project in future. You both attract a similar audience and it could help you grow your audience. Love the literary themed gifts you received. 📖
Oh I do love a literary themed gift! Kate and I live many, many miles apart......and are both so busy I doubt we'd ever have the chance to get together.......but she doesn't live too far from my sister so if I was in her neck of the woods I would certainly try to arrange a meet up. :-)

How bizarre re Defra... There will be more of this type of thing as we exit you know where either with or without a deal. With no deal between the US and UK, seed sending between the two will be interesting... 🤔 Wow, at this rate you will have a calendar for each room and the shed!! Such a lovely advent calendar......can't wait for the 1st! And, hahaha, I shall have the most becalendared home come the first of January. ;-) It's so odd that those seeds were destroyed.....I've had so many seeds from Canada and the US over the years......why now? What a pity. :-(
It seems strange that DEFRA did not send with their letter the original addressed envelope/packaging to you in order to identify where the seeds came from. I love the old fashioned calendar as it could be left on display all year round/. I am excited to see what you make with linens Kate has set aside for you. As you know, all crafty people cannot stand seeing anything go to waste and always want to use up every last bit of fabric up! Lovely 'chat' as always.
Ach, yes, I wish Defra had enclosed the original packaging so I would know who to write to with a thank you.......maybe the empty package will still turn up?! Oh I love the old fashioned simple window advent calendars too.......my sis got it spot on for me with this one and I can't wait for the 1st! What a shame about the seeds someone ordered for you, sounds like it was a very nice collection. Your calendars are pretty. Some years I end up with an excess amount of them too and other years I have to remember to purchase one. The day I watched your last challenge video I'd just posted a letter to a dear woman in hospice care so I counted that for that week. I've always admired photographic works where the letter is recognized from something else such as x being an open pair of scissors. Maybe I'll give that a try. Thank you for the lovely chat, Vivi.

chiming in very late - many people reported receiving unsolicited packages of seeds from China. It could be one of these.
That was weird wasn't it....all those unsolicited seeds from China. These weren't....they were from West Coast seeds.....so gutted they didn't get through but I totally understand because of bio security. :-)

High does your calendar have a brand on it? I have a friend who would adore this and I'd somlove to make her Xmas by getting one for her :) PS I totally felt it joy with it. I got some last year. They were the sort with the old fashioned German fairytale style drawing behind the doors. I was so excited. Such a beautiful memory from my childhood. I got them for my mum and sister too and we sent each other pics of what was behind the door each day :)

Hello. There was tonnes of seeds sent to the world from China, and not ordered. They (governments) have put out maximum destructions as the seeds are not marked and could be noxious or create issues in other environments. I suspect you may have sent or were sent a friend package out, that the bordercontrollers found. What it does mean, is you have been flagged, so don't send seeds or order seeds outside the country. Lots of love and peace.

I think Bealtaine cottage use to send seeds but had to stop for the same reason 🤷🏻♀️ I wonder what the problem is? Of course you wouldn’t want invasive seeds planted. I can relate, not a morning person. Would it be wrong to re-gift one of the calendars? Have a great week VIVI.
I totally understand (and agree with) not letting just any ld seeds go anywhere.....I would hate to think of pests and diseases travelling....I just wonder why it has happened now and not previously. Hahaha - cheers to a fellow night owl. ;-)

Hi Viv :-) the first challenge i couldn't manage to do .But will try to do the second .my mum had a covid scare but turns out she had a bad reaction to the pneumonia injection she had to help protect her .Been stressful week .I decided to put my decorations up to cheer myself up .I love the book calendar .Where did you get it from as it would be perfect for my daughter as she just finished york uni with English Lit and is such a book lover.She is trying to eat healthy so would be good to get and save her adding few extra pounds lol .Take care Viv xx
