Absolutely stunning! I'll be checking out your walk/ hikes on the website for some ideas. I'm a newbie having only done my first very short jaunt/camp a couple of weekends ago on Table Mountain, Crickhowell. Thank you for taking the time to make these videos and web content. Inspiration for a nervous newbie😊🏴
What a fantastic spot for a first wild camp! I've often wondered if that would be a good spot to camp, lovely views overlooking Crickhowell. I hope to add a lot more to my website this year, but I've got quite a lot of hills covered already. Thanks for stopping by and taking the time to comment, it's really appreciated.
This was a beautiful adventure, Kev 😊 Beautiful landscape, lovely waterfalls and amazing views! This has it all. I always like seeing the frozen icicles, also you capture tbe night sky so well 😊
Hi Kev, for me this is one of my absolute favourite videos of yours, purely for the views of places that I've hiked and loved so much! So many special memories there for me, thanks so much for posting this!
Thanks for the kind words. The conditions were great for it, the light and the locations. It's a wonderful place and the stillness and peace for large parts was special. Good for the soul.
Hey Kev 😊 loved the look of the night sky you took some great night pics. Beautiful morning especially with the clouds inversions and that cloud rolling over the hills.
Thanks Yas. I'm glad I stuck with carrying a proper camera with me. It can definitely do things an Action cam can't! Just need to be rewarded with clear skies!
@@garymartin557 I'm definitely pleased I decided not to abandon full frame cameras in favour of small and light action cams. I'd really nice these night shots.
Well done, Kev. That tent was a good purchase! I'm glad you have a warmer sleep mat now. I sleep cold too, and thoroughly appreciate the cold weather sleep system I have now. It's just not fun if you can't even keep warm enough to sleep! Lovely night shots too 👌 James.
What a great camp. You were very fortunate up there as the weather is so rapidly changeable. The views at night and in the morning were incredible. Like you I sleep very cold. I have a snugpak sleeping bag the comfort -10 but that’s still not good enough for me at this time of year 🥶
Cheers Phil. Definitely got lucky with the conditions, breeze got up and died down on and off, but to get the stars and sunrise was unexpected. Yes, I tried a Snugpak last year that was supposed to be good to minus 7, it was out on a really cold mountain camp and I struggled to keep warm, but I didn't have as good a sleep mat then. The Rab is probably the best £170 I've spent.
That was some walk in to get to your pitch for sure... you & James really like a good walk varrying your gear, lol. I have walked from Fan Gyrhirych to the cp at Cerrig Gleisiad (13 miles) so have walked that partt of the Roman road. Cerrig Cwm Du, the valley after you turned off is beautiful and there is a track up through the middle that takes you to the trig at Fan Frynych - its not used much so some parts are a little sketchy as far as being a definite path. There is a lovely fat pitch before you get to the top but nothing that would give sunrise/sunset views. Inspired by your post on X earlier in the week I took a wander up to Fan Frynych - quite early in the year for my annual walk up there - but wanted to check a few pitches for a possible camp. I have lways fancied the F10 Helium - so hearing you say you picked it up for £35 I was gutted - if you ever sell it give me 1st dibs on it! beautiful conditioms when you walked back - do love an inversion. Nice watch Kev. atb Al
It was nice to have a bit of a walk, I'll admit I was looking forward to getting the pack off at the end. I'd packed my drone but didn't use it, just carried the weight! That sounds like the path I'd planned to take but run out of time. It was darker than it looked, but my camera made it look light. I'll let you know about the Helium, but TBH I loved it. Light, small pack and loads of space. Good looking tent for night photos as well!
That was a lovely walk Kev and some beautiful scenery plus a delightful spot for a wild camp, well done! Is there a nicer place to walk than the Brecon Beacons (or should I say Bannau Brycheiniog)? Loved the night photography. Guess the end of the walk qualifies you for trying Dancing on Ice 😛 Regards Keith
Ha ha, thanks Keith. I was bruised ina few places, second slip was like a comedy banana skin slip, I took off and managed to bash my knee. It's a great place to explore... However, looking back at the photos and footage it is quite barren, some of my valleys walks have a lot more variety. But the Roman road was lovely, some lovely colours and the mountains are good.
Glorious trip with stunning views especially like the starry night time shot of you & the tent against the sky. That sleeping mat & bag combination is perfect if not a bit too warm! Put some arnica on your bruises if you still have them, bet they were sore. Thank you for sharing your video.
Great video, only done Pen y Fan and Corn Du in the Brecon Beacons. Really enjoyed your video and will make me come down and explore some of the quieter parts for sure. Well done on the video, new subscriber hear 👍👍
Thanks. Pen y Fan and Corn Du are impressive but extremely busy, which is no surprise as they're the highest and right next to a main road. That does leave the rest of the mountains relatively peaceful. Certainly to wild camp as after dark most of them are empty.
Great Walk mate , the night sky was incredible, you can see the Milky Way the stars are so clear. Was that Craig Cerrig Gleisiad you camped on or Craig Cwm Du? Cheers mate
Craig Cerrig Gleisiad, just a few metres away from the cairn. I got out the tent and was shocked to see the stars above billions of them. It was incredible.
@@adamradford2285 cheers Adam. It's a great spot. The walk from underneath the crags is special every time I do it, so this time walking it from the other direction was nice.
Yeah, I think at some point on day 2 I tightened it up at the shoulders to pull it in. It wasn't uncomfortable, but definitely feels better tighter to the shoulders.
Do you have a post code for the car park please defo want to try this one. Great to see you back wild camping. Nice tent also. Looking forward to the warmer weather and I’ll start getting out in mine again I’m not brave enough for the cold lol

great stuff, thanks Kev
Thanks Reece. Hope all is well with you.
Fascinating and intriguing - those night pictures, with the stars, was really something to see wasn't it.
It was made better by the fact I wasn't expecting it. I got out of the tent and the stars were incredible.
Gorgeous morning light. A friend owns the Helium 1 and swears by its quality. Thanks for posting the video.
Thanks. Mine looks in great condition apart from the main seam which is discoloured. Can't argue for £35 though!
Thanks for another cracking trip so lovely up there 😊
Thanks David. It's a nice spot, was good to get a decent walk in as well.
