I'm impressed by your skills! Always somebody like you in every profession...that can do a task in 1/3 the time. Although you never use a level. I assume you can eyeball level and plumb with your skillset. I work alone in my profession, a profession that typically has a helper. If I were your client, I wouldn't have a problem with that. Even as a non builder, I can put two and two together and realise that building a house all by yourself for a client allows the builder to make more bank. Little to no overhead costs doing it yourself with no help. No payroll taxes. Nothing. All by yourself it's just the basic expenses of running a business. More money in your pocket and you could put that towards even more tools as a tax write-off. Haha. Just gotta have the mindset of "if I have to cut the same piece more than 3 times, make a jig for it".

it will be interesting to see how that attic is vented for airflow and how those trusses are braced. I have worked on houses where there is practically no bracing and they expect the sheathing and one center run the length of the center upright to be enough.. and others that have bracing from the peak to the soffit at a 45 on each gable .. nice homes up there .. big

Question.. when you put the board up at the end of the trusses and you notch out for your tails.. how does the soffits pull air to vent the roof? Thanks
Question: did you mark that last trusse, on the end, where those faceouts, short 2x4s go?? Are they 24 inches apart?? I just don't see any marks on that trusse??? Maybe I just don't see the marks?? Thanks=)
The peices nailed to your lookouts are for sofit backing i assume? We just put 22 1/2 in 2x4 in between ours and use them to.scribe layout as well. What do you think is easier?
Very fortunate. Awesome job. Did you build other houses in the background as well? Which part of the country are you? Would like to hire you to frame my new build house.
The green paint (intumescent paint) does indeed work to slow the spread of fire. The purpose isn't to make it fireproof, its to increase the amount of time it takes for the fire to burn the wood and move to the neighbours house so that your local firepeople can put it out before it catches the whole neighborhood on fire. It's the same reason why that wall assembly will also be designed to a certain fire rating (time against a 'standard' fire). Search intumescent paint on youtube and see for yourself.

This guys just trying to put food on his table stop knocking him over this shit.. The heights is why I could never stick to framing and trust me its a shame when your 70 year old grandfather can walk the top plates with trusses and you cant... You gotta be a hard breed to do this shit its not for everyone.. Cheers
Hey man, I’m just getting into framing, I work mostly the GTA. I’m learning on the go and your videos are offering a great insight into efficiency and tips. I have a question on this particular video. You had to install the dense glass before the rafter tails, and notch out for the tails. then you installed the rafter tails. Is that dense glass acting as the insulation stop as well? Thanks for your time
So that first truss sits 3.5 inches shorter then you build it up so it's even with the rest of the rafters when you frame in the lookouts? Love the vids.
@0:11 Yeah, I don't think that paint does much either. That fire code was more than likely put in by a corporate lobbyist for your local area, so the licensed builder is forced to buy the lumber with green paint that makes it cost extra, thus putting more money in the pockets of the lumber supplier involuntarily. Don't get me wrong, more strict fire codes makes sense in a subdivision where the houses are so close together, but with any building codes atleast half of the codes are money-generating useless bs. Of your area was truly worried about fire reduction, then the codes would call for using 3/4" plywood for the subfloor sheathing instead of crappy OSB. OSB can be a deathtrap in a house fire. It's particle board and can give out easily with enough heat. Plywood will withstand a fire a lot better. But hey, whatever gets the laborer that paycheck. Nothing wrong with that. My own personal house, I'd definitely use plywood sheathing though.
We always snap a line across when we do fascia because no trusses are exactly the same and if you don’t the fascia becomes wavy and looks like shit... plus we always sight it and hammer out the curves if there is any to make sure it’s perfectly straight...

Random Mcranderson That makes sense. The fascia starts easily, and the fire walks up the roof with the venting providing oxygen. Dam nanny state! :)

You are wearing a harness, where is the line dude?? One fall and it's not worth it! I wish you the best luck but you are not invincible. I want to see a line next time, please!
That’s no harness those are suspenders to hold the tool belt up
@@JibtekkiN i agree. Only time i slipped was because of that damn rope. Its not the fall that hurts. Its that sudden stop
suspenders dont have a ring
Probably just has that in case the MOL shows up, then he'll put on that hard hat you see hanging a tie off lol
I've seen saftey lines cause a few bad falls...No thanks.
