As much as the quad G5's were amazing for their time, I always stuck with the high end dual CPU G5's for this reason. I just got one working again today actually. dual 2.5ghz late 2005. It's a dedicated Logic 7 recording rig for my bands practice spot. 16gb of ram. Works like a charm with period correct software.

Better late that never :) G5s wont start up if the transparent plastic shroud is not present. At the bottom there are to tabs, one will cover an optic sensor that detects that the shroud is present.
Are they definitely resisters and not capacitors? either way there must be some way to find out the values or get a schematic diagram and then solder on some new components.

Got a G5 as part of a bundle, absolutely no response at all, not even light when button pressed - if the backup battery is dead, would that stop it doing anything
Run the processors under hot water it will dissolve all the crystals away. The CPU can work even without the decoupling capacitors. Then you need to repaste the tops install them back on the cooler and put it in. It will power right up.
You also need to refill coolant into the radiator.
Will it run Dex-Cool premix, or it likes something different?
@@pliedtka I don't know, I just use de-ionized water in mine. Regular water has a higher specific heat than anti-freeze/water mix, just the freezing temperature is lowered. 100% water can carry more heat away.
Not sure about dex-cool. It is probably almost exactly like polyethylene glycol...but I could be wrong.
@@pliedtka the original coolant used by Apple actually is Dexcool. But Dexcool is corrosive and conductive, it was a bad choice by Apple. Better use standard computer watercooling fluid,
That cpu board and cpu are porb completly dead, rust, coroosion everywere. try to fint parts for it but it lasted a good years toth

You did not inform about the LED-lights next to the both RAM-banks. There you can see at first where's the G5-problem located. For example: LED no 7 is located between the both RAM-banks. It should be green or you have to ask for help of an expert. LED-no 3 should be red: the G5 get's it electricity. Also LED- no 4 next to it should show a yellow light: also it shows that the G5 is well connected to the electricity.

Its costly project indeed it truly depends on how much money you want to spend on the project.

My Problem a 2003 G5 I left on For a week and notice wasn't on Power down and try the Bottom and nothing at no blink nothing and trying reset mother board nothing . But it's clean absolutely no damage cheese Grader ha 😃😃

No i didn't. Sold it to someone who was going to use the case to build a new computer.
There are easier ways to get the plastic pin out. Pull out the centre of it first.
I didn’t see “salting”...there is corrosion however.
U are going to need to learn how to solder and buy new resistor also find flux in a tube but it all around the the cpu mainly where corrosion is it at and heat it up and gently rub it with your soldering iron were the contacts have been corroded

It is strange that Apple technicians build such a cooling system that leaks. I like Apple computers but I believe a pc is better and affordable.
The cooling system is fine, however the coolant that they used, which is called Dexcool, is corrosive and not a good choice.
