This dropped my jaw. I felt like I was a bird soaring in a dream world. This, literally, looks like a dream. Amazing! I can't only aspire to these heights.
Incredible flying and stunning scenery - nice work. You're very respectful of your neighbours' privacy too! Love the boat shot at the end. Keep 'em coming!
Tom, one of the best FPV pilots I've seen since Juz70, absolutely brilliant, and the scenery, well what can one say, Fantastic, Thankyou. Regards Mark.
I'm a stills pro in the Cayman Islands. I shoot a lot of real estate. This video sent me into a full blown addicted hunt to learn all I could about multirotor AP a month ago. After waffling from this to that, I now have an F550 Flamewheel, 650 heavy lift version on the way from Aerial Media Pros. I plan to add the Zenmuse GoPro gimbal and Fat Shark FPV after some hard core practice. It's all your fault (or credit). Thanks for the inspiration Tom!
I'm sure you paid that bird at 5:02. That was perfect timing, hitting the tree, falling over looking up at the palms and blue sky with the bird ($paid$) flying about. Perfect.
Tom, What a drop dead gorgeous video. I have had the Phantom for about 4 weeks now and I can only hope to fly, shoot and edit a video half as good as this...God Bless..Mike
Hi Tom, what a superb flight video. Great turns and an impressive accumulation of views and sceneries - I wish I can fly - "über den Wolken....". All the best Georg
Great clip! Beautiful scenery, great location, superb flying (the brush against the palm tree doesn't count - I would have expected it to clear as well) and a nice looking Azimut to top it off :-) Thanks for sharing.
I don't get it... who wouldn't have enjoyed this video? Some people just don't know a good thing when they see it. Terrific video quality, beautiful locale with perfectly matched music. This could have been on an episode of Miami Vice yet four clowns gave it a thumbs down? I just don't know about people anymore...
It's a lot of fun and a good rush! The camera is self-leveled in the gimbal through the NAZA which isn't close to perfect but good enough to smooth out motion. I then use the tilt feature to get the shots and angles I want. Honestly I don't think about it much anymore, I just go where I think looks good and my hands do the rest :)
Thanks! It's just a basic DIY gimbal with a HS-85MG servo, great little guy. I did upgrade to a Futaba 8FG for tilt control but it looks like the standard Phantom transmitter can do that now also. The Futaba is a superior transmitter is many other ways though, it's great!
Great work, you've convinced me to get the FatShark! Just waiting on the Zenmuse gimbal for the phantom. I'm getting great footage now but with that new gimbal it will be insane. Great work a true inspiration.
I'll look them up and thank you very much for the tips! Just starting to play with color grading and the difference it can make is amazing. I'm trying to improve a bunch of skills at once while developing my first DIY quad, lots of balls in the air!
***** This video remade in HDR through a postprocessing in the program, or so saturated is shot by your camera? If it is the camera so removes that that stands up for model at you on the device?
Thanks :) I've dunked it a few times but hardly any damage at all. I now have water bouts attached that self inflate and can lift 1kg a piece. I have two on the phantom and 4 on the spidex. The y6 gets 6 if it goes over water.
I live in Brooksville, not to far. I'm flying the Phantom (my first quad). I have tried fpv with slow planes but quit flying for quite a while till I got the Phantom.
One question though, do you actually find need to move the gimbal much or do you tend to leave it in same place, or is it designed to self level the camera? I am thinking of a static mount but if it's too restricting I might have to build similar to on your blog, which is also great and informative btw. Thanks for the videos and all the information. I'm also thinking of mounting a lumix lx7 to it, seen one video on YT, so I know it can take it, though it's 100gs over the supposed 200g limit.
The flying and the rig are fantastic. I would love to DIY but just don't have the time, too many other project on my plate. Where might you suggest to purchase a similar quality rig like you have created?
Hey nice video by the way, im gonna be gettin a DJI next week, but im very conserned becasue their is no way to see what im recording, my question is, is their an accesory i can buy so i can see what im recording from the ground, without buying the dji phantom vision 2, that already includes a camera with the smart phone transmition, becasue i already have a go pro hERO 3, AND I honestly like the go pro better than the camera Dji has to offer, so my resumed question, how can i see what im recording ? Thank you
Looks like an absolute BLAST to use, and it's way more than just a simple toy, as it has numerous applications it could be used for. I live 45 minutes north of this location (Stuart) and, like this person, live on the Intracoastal Waterway and my mother lives right across from me on the other side and it would be not only neat to fly a drone across the water to check on her place, but ultra time-saving as well. I routinely have to drive to her place to deliver a set of keys or exchange other small items but with this I could simply FLY it to her, have her detach the item and fly it back (or vice-versa)! Driving there and back is a good 30 minutes while flying might take 10 minutes, if that. Plus it would be FUN :)
Hi, Great Video, I built a DIY QAV500 quad and enjoy flying. I have a lot more to learn but haven't done a FPV flight yet. A guy n my group has one but Did you install agimble that is operated from your transmitter?? I have the DJI Naza that has my gimbal controlled. Thanks again for the video..
OK, I have been messing with aerial video fora few years, a lot of crashes and drifting out of sight/orientation made me almost give up. Now I've heard about this quad and seen your videos it's inspired me to start up again. This is the price that a gps control unit alone would have cost me for my x650. I was never convinced about FPV flying either, but I can see you sitting there, totally in control, with obviously good video signal. So, I'd better buy one now...
Hi Tom - beautiful video I read the settings on the Web fit and fuel, but why are shooting at 2.7 K? (it's only 24f). It's for a post-stability? (offset the bigger picture in full HD?) only wide lens - shows the foot of the Phantom. My TV and 17 "MacBook Pro are the only Full HD resolution.
Thanks! WildAndLiving is right, stock it gets 7 minutes with only the go pro. It get 4:30 with all the extra crap. If you trade out the motors and add a second battery, you can get 12-13 minutes which is pretty decent. Thanks! It's my father's place
Thanks! You can go either way for gimbal control, I do control mine through my transmitter, but it's really up to you. Let me know if you have any other questions.
Very nice vid. How long have you been flying your DJI?I this video are you flying FPV?I am a newbe to the rc world and this looks like a lot of fun.Again very nice video thanks.

Hi from the french Riviera ! Your movie is awesome, wonderfull, incredible ! I got a DJI now i have to find some talent ! Where did u buy your ? (sorry for my poor english, i'am just a french guy)
I see now it is attached directly to the gimbal without the protective housing and that you appear to be using virtual gaming glasses as your flight monitor..can you tell us the exact set-up you're using?
That's an amazing video, great job. The color and stabilization are great! I'll google magic bullet, and warp stabilizer. What other program do you use for editing. I'm currently using Sony Movie Studio (can't afford the higher end ones). Is Magic Bullet, and Warp Stabilizer stand alone programs, or are they some sort of add-on for another editor?
..how does it deal with wind?..pretty bold to be flying it over water..I'm guessing it's pretty much toast if you put it in the drink..do you fly the gopro in it's housing or is it attached directly to the gimbal?
I'm Beginner and learning to fly. Trying formats GoPro 3BE and yet I'm shooting at 1920x1080 ProTune 60f (60f is best for timewarping and slowmotion). Converting the Cineform footage. FCPX is in good stabilization and post-filters "Look2". Thanks for the inspiration Tom! (sorry - my english is from google translator :-)
relly nice video! :) after you rendered the video did you compress it with some other program? :) And it would be very nice to see the tutorial next week! :) you got my sub! :)
The is a free version of DaVinci resolve over at blackmagic design. It is a limited version (no watermarks, just stripped of high end stuff) of the long time leading Color Grading software in the industry. It takes time to learn but it's worth it. And you'll find tut's on youtube.
u should go out on a boat and film around the boat in the middle of the bay or ocean... btw this video may be the reason i move to south florida amazing home and boat
It handles some wind out but the overall for filming in wind, the phantom doesn't do great in anything over 8-10. That should change a bit with brushless gimbals. It has been in salt water once and in freshwater 4 times (1 more as of today) and I only lost one ESC the first time. The GoPro's have been both in housings and direct mounted to save weight. The direct did not do so well.
I'll try to get to it! Designing a new quad so my head is all over the place! I render/compress through Adobe Encoder at H.264 straight from the original project file. I should really start making a master lossless copy as well....
Well 2.7k is not a export setting for H.264 right out of PrPro but and I kept on getting error messages when I tried to customize it. After a few days of annoyance I figured out that in Encoder you can go to H.264 (Legacy) and for some reason that let me set the output to 2.7k at 30fps without any more hassle. Hope that helps!
What is a water bout and how do they self-inflate? I was thinking of using a few ping-pong balls attached to my multi-copter so it can float in case it takes a dive into the drink. I'd be sick to my stomach if I lose a $1000+ copter in open water.
The bit witt the boat, the bit where you fly low round the bench and trees, you sitting there 'zen like' it's just brilliant work!
over a year ago, I watched one of your videos... and I bought a Phantom... your FPV skills are phenomenal. (bows to the master)
Impressive moves! This is probably the best Phantom flying and footage I've seen so far.

Tom you are amazing, nothing short of breathtaking flying and video post skills. To say you are an inspiration is an understatement !!!!!!!
I'm a stills pro in the Cayman Islands. I shoot a lot of real estate. This video sent me into a full blown addicted hunt to learn all I could about multirotor AP a month ago. Fantastic flying skills!!! Watching your movies is one of my enjoyment!
Hey thanks for checking out the video. I have been flying since last January and yes, i was flying FPV. it's a lot of fun!
Damn TOM... this is amazing.! Darn even your crash end up with a perfectly composed sky and palm view.
Fantastic video!!
Just good. Real, real good. Bet the ending wasn't planned. Thanks for the ride. You got skill my friend.
Thanks for watching my videos, I appreciate your support! I am looking forward to seeing the videos you get from your new set-up
Thanks for the comment Michael, I appreciate the support! Have fun flying!
That was fantastic. I was on the edge of my seat the whole time. You're the best, thanks for sharing.
I'm sure you paid that bird at 5:02. That was perfect timing, hitting the tree, falling over looking up at the palms and blue sky with the bird ($paid$) flying about. Perfect.
***** LOL he's on the payroll and makes guest appearances often
Tom, What a drop dead gorgeous video. I have had the Phantom for about 4 weeks now and I can only hope to fly, shoot and edit a video half as good as this...God Bless..Mike
I'm glad you enjoyed it!
The Phantom should be available from a bunch of distributors in Europe. Hope you have as much fun with it as I do!
Excellent choice of music for video but most impressive is the flying. It takes skill to fly like that. I watched this a few times.
Hi Tom, what a superb flight video. Great turns and an impressive accumulation of views and sceneries - I wish I can fly - "über den Wolken....". All the best Georg
Thanks so much SSBTV! I appreciate the support!
Great clip! Beautiful scenery, great location, superb flying (the brush against the palm tree doesn't count - I would have expected it to clear as well) and a nice looking Azimut to top it off :-)
Thanks for sharing.
I can watch this over and over !! very well done :)
Mike Hawk Thanks man! Always going to have some haters out there. I appreciate your support!
Great footage and amazing flying Tom! You got that glide panning down packed! Hehe
I live in Winter Park! And the weather has been awesome for flying, hardly any wind in the mornings. If you ever out this way let me know. Thanks!

You're the master Tom, you definitely are!
Thanks again! Good luck flying; looking forward to seeing your work. Let me know if you have any further questions.
Wow! That's a hell of a complement! Thank you Mark!
This is truly amazing!. Love your color grading too.
thank you! I can't wait to try out the Vision, let me know what you think of it when you receive it, happy flying!
Great work, you've convinced me to get the FatShark! Just waiting on the Zenmuse gimbal for the phantom. I'm getting great footage now but with that new gimbal it will be insane. Great work a true inspiration.
There also is a stripped version of Magic Bullet called Mojo. A good starting point if you are willing settle with certain presets.
I have no words to describe this! Amazing!!!
Just freaking awesome. Such amazing skill. Well done.
how you liking the phantom so far?
Glad I could inspire and good luck! I crashed a bunch before I started getting good enough to fly like this.
I'll look them up and thank you very much for the tips! Just starting to play with color grading and the difference it can make is amazing. I'm trying to improve a bunch of skills at once while developing my first DIY quad, lots of balls in the air!
I'll try to get on it next week. Its pretty basic stuff, only self taught. Main highlights are Magic Bullet "Looks" and Warp Stabilizer.
It's great this time of year!
Tom. Nice stuff man. Very impressed. Wish I was closer to you. We are having some nice flying days up here in Tampa now
That was pretty sweet! Well done!
Your flying skills have inspired me to go out and break two sets of props. I guess I'm not quite there yet. lol
thank you! the tilt axis gimbal isn't too bad, i'll probably put a brushless on the phantom soon! thanks for checking out my video!
Very well done! Nice vid quality.
***** This video remade in HDR through a postprocessing in the program, or so saturated is shot by your camera? If it is the camera so removes that that stands up for model at you on the device?
He has great stuff! Thanks for pointing me in that direction.
Thanks Bo! It was too good to pass up! Loved that bird making fun of me at the end.
Thanks :)
I've dunked it a few times but hardly any damage at all.
Thank you! Dream sequence is what I was going for... plus I was half asleep so it must have inspired the flight :)
One question though, do you actually find need to move the gimbal much or do you tend to leave it in same place, or is it designed to self level the camera? I am thinking of a static mount but if it's too restricting I might have to build similar to on your blog, which is also great and informative btw. Thanks for the videos and all the information. Very Good Job… I Have Pre-Ordered The Phantom Vision.
Can't wait
I plan on doing that this weekend! Looking forward to it!

I dont think the signal could hold more than 1 km
That's awesome (and practical), thanks for the reply! Keep up the good work

Color filtering very good my friend...
Thanks! You can go either way for gimbal control, I do control mine through my transmitter, but it's really up to you. Let me know if you have any other questions.
wow, it's fantastic and good skills
What fpv setup are you using Tom?
Also any delay in using FPV and the gopro? Have read people mentioning lag when using their gopro for FPV?

Thanks! And yes it was straight from the GoPro, some people don't like it but I do!
that was just perfect!!!

i want to buy it! smooth footage!!
how long is the battery stay alive?
p.s ur house is amazing.
What is the music and by whom? Thanks for sharing.. it's a great video.
LOL thank you so much! Have fun flying your DJI! Let me know if I can help with anything!
Красавчик Том!!!! Золотые руки!!!! Голливуд )))))
Hi Tom, did you play on attitude mode or GPS mode ?? Thanks
Awesome! Well done!
The best movie ever!
