Yes sir, those are brushless gimbals and in another week or two we should see a bunch of them in the market. I've been trying to get my hands on one for two months, sold out almost everywhere for the good control boards. Can't wait to get one of those!
Tom, because off your video I took my plane today for his very first fpv flight! Skylark Osd, gopro hero 3, Fatsharks, all the bells & whistles & let me tell you this isn't easy! I salute you! Lost my planes with ALL the equipment after a minute or 2... Couldn't find it anywhere, don't even know where to look! So, shame on you, you made me doing this! Lol! Subscribed! :-)
I like the design of their spider... it's crazy because I have been working on my own folding frame for a few weeks and it looks almost identical to the spider in a bunch of ways, even the gimbal setup, motors and the isolation system.. except mind folds up :)
Fantastic stuff Tom! Can't wait to see what you can do at a MTB Race down here at VKey. Let me know when ya have a free day to come down and check the place out and practice a bit. I def have to order my FPV gear soon!
Thanks Jonathan! The two can be a great combination with some tweaking and additions. I always shoot with Protunes on and almost always at 2.7k. I have recently been experimenting with RAW White Balance but not sure I'm 100% sold yet. The only added function from the 8FG is gain adjustment and tilt the camera, and tilt is not enabled from the stock controller. I did have to switch out the receiver and that is because the stock receiver cannot communicate with the Futaba 8FG.
OH MAN! I'm sorry to hear that! Keep looking, I've read of guys finding their setup after months and it still worked (dead batter though). Good luck and let me know if you find it!
Thank you!! I haven't had any real problems with my Phantom yet... other than a few crashes, which thankfully i've been able to repair, the Phantom works well in fair weather conditions. Thanks for checking out my video!
Hi, this coloration was done in magic bullet looks and some custom grading in after effects. The gimbal is one I built myself and is a direct drive servo driven gimbal, pretty simply actually. Warp stabilizer was applied in post to smooth things out.
i actually just checked out the Blade a few minutes ago; i hadn't heard of it before but i had a similar question sent to me on youtube messages. they look pretty compatible; if you're worried about how it will look i can say from personal experience i've crashed my phantom so many times that after repairing it and changing things around it looks a lot different from when i started. good luck flying!
She has been flying for 2 weeks! In FPV I get a little bit of shake when banking hard or full forward but working on smoothing that out. LOS she just flies perfect! All up weight (including factored in brush-less gimbal) is 1340g and I got 16 minutes of flight time on 2x 2700 batteries the other day. :) I'm very excited about how she is coming along!
Thanks Peter! Depends on if the render actually completes because I didn't screw it up, a 5 minute clip takes around 4-5 hours to render out. With editing and warp stabilizer, it takes around 10-12 hours to put a clip together but that's only 2 hours or so of my time, the rest is the computer doing work.
I'm familiar with the area and camp you were at, seeing the glades again from the air brought back great memories when I was getting my pilots license and the flight training area was over the glades. Always liked my solo flights, checking out the glades! Thanks Thinking about getting one of these setups now any recommendations?
Cool video. I made one similar to it, except we used a catamaran race boat and not an airboat. My setup is a Phantom 2, H3-3D gimbal, DJI 58 downlink, iOSD Mini, and Black Pearl Monitor.
Well done, for the video it's very nice one.... Yeah one of the best show, I'm leaving in Gabon, I was looking for FPV for my Phanthom, I have to buy now... Rgds & see you soon on TH-cam..CV.
Brilliant. I am constantly impressed with what you manage to get out of a Phantom. I hope you get commission from DJI - whether you know it or not, you must sell a few of them....
Thank you. There was some color grading in Premiere Pro using a custom Magic Bullet Look and some warp stabilizer was added in After Effects to smooth out the motion. Other then that everything was shot at 2.7k with Protunes on.
Awesome video! Were you using a wide, medium, or narrow setting on the GoPro? Just curious of any part of the drone is visible when using the gopro mount that comes with the dji phantom. Thank you.
Thanks! Color correction and editing are a big part of this and takes up 95% of total time spent on the creating the video. I have a bit of experience with photography and how to use Adobe products so that gave me a bit of a head start.... the editing programs can be tough to figure out at first. That said, I'm all self taught and the majority of what I've learned has been in the past few months. Stick with it and let me knwo if I can help!
Amazing ! I watch your video 3 times per day! Is there any option that your Phantom automatically track you and follow you without any controlling? and what kind of bout is that !!!! fantastic!
Will do... There was some heavy rain this afternoon, so I think the electronics will be stuffed anyway. The hero 3 was in its casing but I made a hole in it for the usb cable, so I "think" everything will be RIP by this time... Have looked at your other video's & I can only dream of flying like you! What do your gimbal look like? Do you have 2 cameras on board because how do you orientate yourself to level out the Phantom? The Phantom will be my next project then! :-) Keep up the good work!
Thats great Tom, I know you have great vision so I expect it will become a very nice frame. Great for travelling I suppose. How long will it take to go airborne?
The Phantom actually survives a lot I have dunked it in water five times. i really enjoy flying and I hope it comes across in my videos. you can find pictures of the gimbal and camera set-up in the link in the description. good luck and i hope you get in the air soon!
Tom, this is really great. Thanks for showing what's possible from the Phantom and GP3B. I really liked the color grading. Did you shoot RAW? What, exactly, was controlled by the 8FG? Did you swap out the receiver in the Phantom to do that and why?
Hey! Sweet vid. Definitely thinking about investing in a Phantom. How easy is it to get shots without a gimble attachment? Also, can you tell me what causes the shakiness in the sky around :20-:23? It looks like some image stabilization in post but I'm not sure.
Jonny Havens Hey thanks! The shakiness is referred to as jello, the new phantoms are equipped with better vibration dampening to prevent jello problems. Getting a video without a gimbal is almost impossible as the camera won't be stabilized, but if you're just after a still photo you'll be able to make it work without a gimbal. Good luck!
The phantom is good in ideal conditions but is limited in flight time, wind conditions and payload options. However if conditions are good it is very capable, especially with a brushless gimbal.
I shoot at 2.7k almost exclusively and it is fairly flat straight from the camera. I haven't experienced that exact problem you are dealing with. What frame rate problems do you mean? You have a number of frame rate options at 1080 so maybe you could try a difference option as well. Let me know what works for you. Cant wait to try the GPH4's 1080 at 120fps!
Once again you have proved that you are the KING of Phantom/ fpv.. Great work "Your Majesty."
One of the best Phantom Flights I have seen! Great Flying, Great Footage!
Wonderful, one of the best phantom videos on the web to me
Great control and precise movements.
Absolutely beautiful video mate.
Thanks, Tom, for your movies! Beautifully! Perfectly!
This is so cool. No one can top this I don't think. Flying it from the airboat is just the best ever... plz do all these u can find time for.lol
Simply superbe flying and filming Man !!!!! Thanks .....I'm ordering my Phantom this week and stumbled on your video .....what a blast !
Coolest drone footage ever!.... nice
That well-earned confidence sure paid off Tom! Fanstatic.
Slick, I can't stop watching it over and over. I know what I'm buying next! :)
Thanks for your support Bradley! I have plans to do more airboat shoots in south Florida soon, so check back later this summer for more videos!

Wow this is so cool! Like I'm totally impressed!
La GRANDE CLASSE !!! BRAVO ... Belles images et belle musique ... beau montage et superbe endroit ... CONGRATULATIONS .... BEST REGARD
Another great vid, what an amazing place.
Thanks! Looking forward to it! I'll be back down in 2 weeks if all goes as planned and should be down for a week.
This Is Absolutely GREAT!!

Thanks Mike! I've spent a lot of time practicing! Good luck with your flying!
I used to work there and that is nothing shy of fantastic!
Thanks for taking us out!
I like the design of their spider... it's crazy because I have been working on my own folding frame for a few weeks and it looks almost identical to the spider in a bunch of ways, even the gimbal setup, motors and the isolation system.. except mind folds up :)

Excellent video and composing. Reminds me of CSI
Thank you Tech Today! I appreciate it, I've been working hard on my grading and editing.
Very nice video!!!
WoW, superb! Well done!
Thank you!!

That's an awesome video.

Thank you! I believe the music is "Public Symphony-Fly Over Ocean (Instrumental)".
Easily the best phantom vid

Nice nice nice! Just sent my fatsharks back for repairs today. Probably be a month before I see them again.
Not sure how far you can take one on land, but it was definitely a lot of fun!
awesome job man.its funny how the prop looks like its barely moving in the video when its hauling butt over the swamps
Man, you're a beast with a phantom, just got mine and still learning, need to upgrade im using everything the way it comes..
Thank you! I have been flying the Phantom for about seven months.
Thanks for watching my videos, I appreciate the support!
Cool video. I made one similar to it, except we used a catamaran race boat and not an airboat. My setup is a Phantom 2, H3-3D gimbal, DJI 58 downlink, iOSD Mini, and Black Pearl Monitor.
That is badass...BADASS!!!

Awesome video. Very well done. I hope that I can fly as well as you and take the same caliber of video. Maybe some day.
Thanks tom for being a role model
Thanks for watching my video!

I have to say, that's pretty neat.
Awesome Day, Thanks Tom!
I have yet to achieve decent video with my phantom. I"m going to check out your blog for details on the gimbal.
No worries! Happy to help.
Have fun!
Very good!
***** There has to be at you very good vestibular system to operate a quadcopter through fpv sitting by the moving boat... :)
thank you! i'll be posting information and pictures of my equipment on my blog within the next few weeks flybyap.com
That's Heli' Sick!!
Amazing !

well i've added a lot of upgrades and equipment so the extra weight limits the battery time. I do use an FPV transmitter, FPV receiver, and an OSD.
Return to home? Do you just ignore the feature when on a boat?
Great footage.

Absolutely gorgeous footage! I have a gopro, getting a phantom, any tips to avoid jello effect!
Thank you for watching! It's a lot of fun

It was and I have a decent clip of "Old Glory" I'll upload later today. Thanks for your hospitality.
Loved it
Great video very impressed with the quality of video achieved with your setup, was there much post production done on this video?
Only pre-orders from what I saw. Must have missed it! Again!

LOL! they were a lot of fun to ride around on!
Thanks Brian!
What is your FPV set up?
AMAZING! :)
awesome!
Thanks Eddie! Check out my tutorial on the isolation mount, that is all you'll need!
Thanks Gary!
Tom as we spoke the Gimbal come online as "in stock" I immedately purchased one. Hurry.
The phantom is good in ideal conditions but is limited in flight time, wind conditions and payload options. However if conditions are good it is very capable, especially with a brushless gimbal.
