  • A 2.2 kW / 3 HP motor is fine for such a machine. Even with high pressure on the chain it works without any problem.
    Thanks to the foldable structure, the whole thing is very maneuverable and does not take up to much space.
    In the next video we will show you how to make a kinetic splitter, which you can see during the tests.

    Another very nice build, good safety incorporated into it.

    Square cuts to make using that splitter less stressful, nice.

    Great concept! Very well built!
    I suggest you make a guard in front of the tip of the chain, connected to the bottom part. So there is less risk of the chain grabbing your clothes if you accidentally get to close.
    Also, the downside of a fixed hinge on any chainsaw is: you have to sharpen your chain very symmetrical. Otherwise the saw will try to go sideways and tend to get stuck. Usually you get the best result by sharpening with a machine instead of handfiling.

      Just to add, using a square file helps dramatically. Having your entire cutting surface available equates to speed and even load across each tooth. Cuts damn well though. Awesome build

    Greetings from Ireland.
    Quality work!
    Tidy machine nicely thought out
    perhaps cutting performance could be improved with a faster chain speed, chainsaw sprockets typically turn at about 12000 rpm, your motor rpm? perhaps a sprocket with more teeth at the motor end?
    I like to see some guarding around the sprocket also and a "chain catcher" device to prevent a broken chain from being flung backwards.
    Great work
    I am looking forward to your splitter build.

    Awesome. I would mount that DIY chainsaw on a stand so the rounds fall into a wheelbarrow to prevent back stress.

    Brilliant cutter, I just bought an electric chainsaw... it's more versatile and can deal with wood you can't lift. yours is more powerful and makes strait cuts every time.
    the splitter is even better! its creepy fast though. I'd put some guides down each side so the round wants to stay put, so you don't have too/or are tempted too hold it as the ram slides forward. I notice you did that a few times. swapping out another hand is likely tough that far out of town ;)
    can't wait to see how you made the splitter. hydraulic ones are sooo slow. I love electric tools.

    Poor design. Motor bearing close to a blade takes all the stress from rotation and from lateral forces during cut. This is main disadvantage of all DIY designs. That bearing is design to take to load of EMS forces and rotor only not additional forces generated by design. Worst case scenario would be if bearing grenades and all the parts will hit the operator. Not very funny nor successful. Also, I fail to notice chain lubricator.

    • @thechadwick22
      @thechadwick22 5 หลายเดือนก่อน +6

      Then you clearly didn't watch the same video where he provided for chain lubrication and placed the bearings within a steel tube housing. How much lateral load do you think this thing generates? Another armchair engineer with a short attention span lol.

    • @Helloverlord
      @Helloverlord 5 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @@thechadwick22 There is no bearing support for rotor other than in stator housing. Two bearings supporting the chain guiderail are trasfering the load to the rotor not to housing itself. My point's still valid.
      I have no intention to watch any more videos from this user as he already did things wrong, more wrong woundn't make him any more right. Videos he make is to gain more viewers like you. Feel free to trust random folks for making life threating devices, never trust real structure engineers because they are all "armchair" ones. Good luck.
