I forgot how amazing the Carpets were. Part of the soundtrack of my teenage years. Saw them in a place long gone in Dublin called the SFX. The place was hopping. Definitely up there in my top ten gigs. Great days.
I remember this back when it was in the Indie top 10 on The Chart Show. Never used to actually play the video though, the bastards. Fantastic tune, probably my fave of theirs.
Big Thank You to the legendary Craig Gill for forming the band that went on to conquer the world. ONLY THE GREAT DIE YOUNG-AND YOU WERE THAT GREATEST OF THE ALL TIME DRUMMERS
Probably agree. Saw them last weekend at SVF (Mids) and they were awesome. You just know they're going to be good when they fire into Joe as their opening salvo.
Loved this band since they released this in 1989, so sad Craig Gill took his life aged just 44. These guys were the real deal. Mooooooooo............. Boon army...........! So glad I was in my late teens when I found these guys - so pity today's teens are exposed to fake, talent-less, soul-less, auto-tuned drivel that now dominates the charts. Fuck the 'people say the same thing about every generation' comments (total bollox!) - Let me just say this, at least we had variety in the charts since they began, but as with the charts from around 2008 onward's, everything sounds the fucking auto-tuned, boring, generic same!!!!!!!!
And yet, the best version for me is not this one, produced for 808 state, the best version is in Dung 4, the cassette, very such The Doors. or "(The story of) Joe"!!!

Was there too!
I loved listening to this song while cruising around on my skateboard back in the 90s.
Simply one of the best indie bands ever.
Greatest drumming track of my era...RIP CRAIG
my favourite Inspiral Carpets tune, RIP Craig :(
I'd like 1 million times if I could
My first and favourite tune of theirs. Amazing drumming, and also crazy seeing how empty the London skyline was in those days.
I remember this back when it was in the Indie top 10 on The Chart Show.
Never used to actually play the video though, the bastards. Fantastic tune, probably my fave of theirs.
My fave Inspiral Carpets song. I remember me and a friend hunting round for 12” versions around Piccadilly in town (Manchester).
Big Thank You to the legendary Craig Gill for forming the band that went on to conquer the world. ONLY THE GREAT DIE YOUNG-AND YOU WERE THAT GREATEST OF THE ALL TIME DRUMMERS
First Inspirals tune I ever heard, from Dung 4 cassette my mate had back in the day. Terrific stuff.

One of best tracks from the Carpets! And today 9th july 2014, only 26656 views! It's, in fact, a cruel world this one
We're having great time dancing to this tune at Mad Club Athens Gr
RIP Craig. The greatest ever band from the Manchester area.
What about the Fall, Stone Roses, and the list goes on?
Smiths
Charlatans
What is the name of the actor who plays Joe in the video?
Underrated band
The most underrated
Probably agree. Saw them last weekend at SVF (Mids) and they were awesome. You just know they're going to be good when they fire into Joe as their opening salvo.
They had plenty of success and popularity. None of this would pass for decent songwriting nowadays. They rode a gravy train and did very well.
@MattSofianosGuitar What! Better than most of the garbage that's trotted out these days.
Mr.Joe to fantastyczny Gość!!! Jacek z Polski.
God, I remember this off a Sounds vid....late 80s......great track
one of the best songs i can remember and still shit hot
Tom hingley on vocals I presume
Of course. That’s why it’s in tune :)
This tunes 24 years old!!!!!! No way!!!!
Fantastic song. So much energy.
This song sounds familiar but I am just 25. Must have heard it on the radio.. the chorus is what sticked in my head
Saw them first at a pub gig...The Old Trout in Windsor. Next time they'd sold out The Town and Country club.
Another contender for the best tune ever written.

Brilliant - and the alignment of the video.
first band I seen live..
Nice memory for you later, it is not my first band to see, but the BEST I have seen. That was back in 92....
R.I.P. Craig....... Top Lad.... shocking news !
A song you can sing with mates on the way home from school
So sad. Such shocking news, RIP Craig
This sounds NOTHING like 1989! I would have guessed this was made in 2009.........or 1969!
I do mean this as a compliment! :)

Still better than anything Oasis ever did, Noel Gallagher is an arse
IC had a few decent tracks in them but even comparing them to oasis let alone saying they're better them is comical
Black Massives -Night Lines
I'm a geek. I have this 12".
And yet, the best version for me is not this one, produced for 808 state, the best version is in Dung 4, the cassette, very such The Doors. or "(The story of) Joe"!!!

120 Minutes brought me here. albeit extremely tardily.

Noel Gallagher!
Not by me.
It's not innovative. Listen to The Fall's "New Face in Hell".
who cares? it is brilliant and Tom's vocals are tops
RIP Craig - XXXXXXXX.
