Study Tips: 1. Start with a topic you are familiar with to build momentum. 2. Once you pic a topic / chapter create an outline of what you want to study. 3. Read the chapter to get an overview of the topic. 4. Then break down the chapter and re-read each section and take notes as you go. 5. Review your previous study session for 15-20 minutes before moving on. 6. To understand the subject even more, lab up what your learning in each section. 7. Those are the basics of how I coach the people I mentor.
DUDE I know its only been 12 days, but Ive never seen 401 likes and 0 dislikes on any video ever..now some one will be a crap and dislike, but I still think this is awesome! Everyone loves you Chuck!
One of my pieces of advice that I can give to someone trying to study, is to make a to-do list for ever day; it works out wonders for me when I’m studying for my CCNA. Thank you for the video, your videos are great.
Just wanted to let you know your videos inspired me and kept me going while I studied for ICND1 and last week I took the test for the first time and passed! Thank you and keep the videos coming.
I read 2 cert books. I watched INE and CBT nuggets video series but what really helped me was taking practice test and doing labs everyday for a month.
Two real cool people, thanks for the motivation fellas. I got my CCENT on October 2017 and I test for CCNA on end of this month February. After I pass I am going to sit for the Windows Server 2016 networking. Summer I will do CCNA Security and end of this year or beginning of 2019 I will do CCDA. I have my hands full but really motivated, Let's gooooooooo!
Got my CCENT Oct 2017 as well,, CCNA April 2018, CCNP fall 2018 and CCNA Security early 2019. I am practicing SDN (Python for Networking) as well during the entire time. luckily for me I currently work as a Network Engineer for a large Enterprise so more practice on the job. Let's do this!
This video motivated me to follow this path and it was the best of my life, after my daughter. Already 4 years on this beautiful road. Thanks for encouraging me up Chuck
I have to be honest, after you said "Do you know how lucky you are? To have internet, to be able to watch youtube, to change your life and get your ccna and change your whole life, that's awesome". Never really thought about how lucky I really am and how good of a situation my life has presented to me. Had to pause the video and dwell on that statement for a second man... thanks for that.
That's awesome! Not a lot of people will just take that second, that breath, and realize what they have. If you keep doing that everyday, you will be unstoppable!
I just wanted to say thanks for making all these videos. I've been pretty stressed about self studying for the CCENT the last month or so and I stumbled on your channel about a week ago and your videos have helped me focus and get my mindset straight for this thing. Really appreciate it!
Hi Chuck, I just want to thank you for video, it really inspire me to go and finish my CCNP R/S certification, this is just what I needed to hear. I'm on my way to do the CCNP SWITCH exam and I hope to get my CCNP this year.
Love your content ! 37 and just finishing up A+ cert and going right into CCENT, CCNA. I will be watching all your content during the process to help me get though it all. Thank You!!
Chuck, Thank you so much for your inspiration. You have helped me to summon up the courage to leave a stressful situation of engineering school with working jobs I hated to now taking the shortcut to my fulfillment by studying for my CCNA. Looking forward to taking your courses in the future. Much love.
Dude, your videos are serious help. I wanted to express gratitude ( as you recommended in your video) to you and Keith as well. I have a degree in IT (Bachelors no less) and I cant subnet for the life of me. It's a very depressing situation, but slowly and surly I am starting to get out of this mental rut and going back to what made me love working with systems again. Keep it Up CHUCK!!! #TeamNetworkChuck #ITFTW
I couldn't agree more with the points about finding the right time to study. I would study at night going through CCNP and feel I would have had much better success if I studied at higher energy times. I have since transitioned and gotten into the habit of waking up early and studying in the morning when I am at my best mental energy.
Hey well done on getting the CBT gig! I watched your stuff last year when I passed my CCNA and you were talking about going travelling with a new job. Cool to see you working for such a great company. After a year of procrastinating I’m planning on getting down to my CCNP studies, this video was a real boost for the motivation.
Not lucky but blessed. No matter how hard life is going guys, the shit can get a lot worse. There is no such thing as rock bottom. Keep grinding. Keep growing. Keep LEARNING!!!!!
Hey man, I'm really happy that I came across your channel. Your content is truly motivational in my current pursuit of certification. Hey man I'm all the way in Jamaica and this video is making a difference. Big ups!!
Thank you! This is great, I also watched your video from last year. I'm studying for my CCNA R&S right now. I just got my CCENT about 2 months ago. When I'm done with my CCNA (which hopefully will be in the next few weeks) I'm not sure if I want to go CCDA or CCNP R&S next. I want to be a network engineer and I find network design and architecture really interesting.
Sounds like the spot I hopefully will be in the next couple of months. I've applied for a tier 1 help desk job. What tier are you? Good luck on your CCENT!
Is that vegas? The fact that you're in vegas, which is where im taking my family next year to move to, Motivates me even more to get my certifications. I miss vegas...HI just isn't the same anymore...
I current work in an unrelated field, but I am the internal "IT Guy" at my job place. I really want to get completely into IT and Networking. If I acheive my CCENT/CCNA, what kind of job can I expect to get with minimal experience? Network admin? Engineer? NOC? Thanks Chuck for these videos, they really remind everyday to keep opening my books!
I just passed my CCENT this past weekend. I got a solid 4-6 questions on VLAN Trunking Protocol (VTP) and numerous others on VLANs in general just so you know. Good Luck!
after watching your video at December 2017, I directly take exam of CCNP TSHOOT, and fail, and tried it again a week later and I passed! And I take exam CCNP ROUTE and I passed! I don't retake the CCNP SWITCH as it's still valid since 2 years ago. And now I'm officially a CCNP R/S
Hey NetworkChuck, I love your video's. I need a suggestion from you. I am IT proffessinal with 3 years of experience. I have a good knowledge on CCNA R&S but i have no hands on experience. I need to decide now should i try growing in networking with L1 or i should do cloud certificate as per good market requirement? Thank you again for making such a knowledgeable video's. Cheers!
I know this is an older video. But i wanted to ask you what you do to relax after a long day of studying. I seem to have a problem where I cant stop trying to learn all this new stuff to me. Every time i see something i don't know i have to learn about it and takes notes and watch videos but now I'm just a jumbled mess of hundreds of acronyms. I don't even know if the stuff I'm learning about has any real-world implications yet.
Thanks!! I created a vision statement ten years ago (Be a preacher and good at IT). It's been a roll a coaster journey. Now, I have lost a lot of stuff (been through a major depression, job loss). I took CCNA (did not clear) the training institute I contacted emphasized that they will teach brain dumps. I got off the certification bandwagon because of this. Realized where I come from it's quite common to use brain dumps (Indian subcontinent). I bought expensive Cisco books (did not help much) while others were using cheap books.. Looking back its been a total disaster (according to my dad). Just wondering if its necessary that one has to "successful" from the world standards. This keeps bothering me. Looks like people who have used brain dumps have done great things Probably got their CCIE by now. Is it possible to "succeed" with a ethic like mine? Love to hear your thoughts. Just to be clear I take ownership of what happened to me. I don't want to blame the circumstances or people. Looks, like sometimes (probably an exception) that life does not turns out the way it intends to be. I sometimes feel I one of the exceptions.
I was looking to maybe join a the network chuck study group and saw you had facebook and that was it, was wondering if maybe you could make a discord for the network chuck community so we can practice talk and bounce idea off one another on discord (way better than facebook imo).
Hey chuck! I love your videos :) Just asking for your advice. My high school offers a 2 year traineeship/apprenticeship after school for 2 years that comes with a networking cert and of course 2 years of experience in the networking field. Should i take this offer? During the traineeship i am planning to also study for my CCNA and CCNP. Thanks :)
If it really will give you some hands-on experience you can slap on your resume....yeah...go for it!!’ It sounds like a great opportunity. It solves one of the biggest concerns I always hear about, “How do I get experience?”
I am planning to take CCNA SP (Service Provider) classes that my employer provides for free. What's the difference between SP and Routing and Switching? Are they comparable? Can one substitute the other?
I currently work with TMS video conferencing at my current position, i was wondering for me to move up and go forward should i go for ccna collaboration? Any suggestions?
what I like to think about to make myself thankful is pineapples. Those things can take anywhere from 1.5-3 YEARS to become ripe. And here I am, thousands of miles from any kind of climate that could even grow pineapples...I go just 5 minutes to a store and take my pick from dozens of them already ripe and pre-sliced, pay just a couple bucks. this boggles my mind.
I've worked on the help desk as a networking technician for a huge retail company for almost 2 years. I've finished my Associates that focused on networking, more specifically using the Cisco Academy. I'm debating on if I should just go straight for the CCNA or go for the CCENT first. Any suggestions?
Hi Chuck any advice on ACLs? Ive been studying and practicing ccna on both packet tracer and gns3 in most of the configs ive been able to succeed but there is this particular topic that i cannot get to master acls plz help!!!

"Deploy gratitude in your life." Love it, man. Thank you for all you do!
LOL use DISM to deploy a gratitude system image in your brain. :D

This is a Great Motivational Video; good stuff. Thanks
CBT Nuggets needs a CCNA Cyber Ops course badly. INE just came out with one and Udemy has a short one.
I was looking to maybe join a the network chuck study group and saw you had facebook and that was it, was wondering if maybe you could make a discord for the network chuck community so we can practice talk and bounce idea off one another on discord (way better than facebook imo).
Thanks for the motivation Chuck!
Great video!
Thanks, Chuck.
Keith Barker is da man hahaha
Yup!
Thanks :)

Thanks chuck :) enrolments start in October, so I'll be asking more about the trainee ship and what it specifically teaches.
Thanks, I also have a cert 2 in Programming which would give me some 'proof' that i know some python.
I am planning to take CCNA SP (Service Provider) classes that my employer provides for free. What's the difference between SP and Routing and Switching? Are they comparable? Can one substitute the other?
Amazing video bro!, Motivated.

I currently work with TMS video conferencing at my current position, i was wondering for me to move up and go forward should i go for ccna collaboration? Any suggestions?

This might be a long shot, but I hope you reply. I heard about the Cisco Users Group meetings from another one of your videos. Are the meetings available for anyone to go to? I'm moving to Dallas at the end of the month and will have my A+ cert by then, and will be looking for jobs, but is that appropriate to do as an entry level guy without a CCNA or networking job?
What camera are you using?> The video is so crisp!
