    I have purchased many Omaha Steaks in the past. There beef is the lowest grade you can get. It is stamped USDA inspected. You can buy USDA select or even better USDA choice at you local grocery store. The best is USDA Prime. You can buy Prime for much less than Omaha Steaks.

      If you watch any Mash videos, you will soon realise that they are cobbled together from a host of advertising material and other sources.
      This video alone will have netted them around $3-000 from You-Tube advertising and they will make more with every view.
      85% of these types of videos originate from India, where the US dollars are worth a lot more. While Mash are quite reasonable, some of them are a complete joke, one of the funniest was showing the New York fire department dealing with a fire that was posted as in London. No wonder it grew so large waiting for them to arrive. 😊

    My father used to buy Omaha Steaks regularly and invite family over for a cookout. Good steak. Never thought they were very well marbled or tender for the money.

    • @mikeexits
      @mikeexits ปีที่แล้ว

      When I worked for them they'd incessantly remind me to say "marbling, not fat" and to talk up just how incredible the marbling was. That was my first job and I was never cut out to be a salesman so I ended up leaving. They make you write on a weekly chart in red or green (depending on if we met the algorithmically-generated goals for that week for items per transaction, average cost per transaction, average cost-per-item (take the total cost of an order, divide by # of items, which would drop a lot if a customer bought a bottle of seasoning or something cheap so this metric was kinda BS in terms of employee fairness), something to do with item stock and a decimal number for something else, and a couple of other seemingly obscure metrics, and if you're even slightly in red for a while they'd fire you. I found this way of tracking employee progress rather manipulative and neotonizing, like I was in adult kindergarten (plus the manager talked to us like she's a crazy cat lady trying to calm an angry and agitated dog down even when we're at ease) so I was glad to leave anyway. They also made us stare at a picture of the founding family for a while during training which I found... Dare I say borderline cultish? I mean don't get me wrong. It's one thing to know the company history but the way they went about it was unnecessarily intimate in a way.
      If I could give only one tip as a former employee, their stuff is wayyy overpriced by default for the most part, and only becomes somewhat worth it when they're doing "steep sales" which really just drop the item down to what an acceptable market value would be. This always left a bad taste in my mouth because, while they encouraged us to help save customers money for customer satisfaction, to a certain degree we were also incentivized to bring the average dollars-to-item ratio up and basically rip customers off, somewhat. It's far from a scam, just shady/questionable sales tactics that, to be fair, must work if they have all the brick and mortar stores like they did when I worked there.
      Also their computer register system is incredibly outdated, it's one of those command line interface programs from the 80s. As a techie growing up, I found this hilarious. Last thing that was sort of weird to me is they made us call customers "guests." Bit of doublespeak going on there, I think. I had to do some deconditioning on my mind to start calling them customers again at my next jobs.

    •They're a little pricey...
    •You don't get to choose the actual steak you purchase, just the cut you want...
    •I'm not totally sold on shipping of perishable products with short lifespans...
    •I was raised on beef that was raised locally and purchased as 'a side of' or a 'front/hind quarter'...
    •Lastly, there are certain cuts I use that we're not available from Omaha Steaks...

    • @drk321
      @drk321 4 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      You just revealed how much you DON'T know about beef. Omaha will sell you a tenderloin that is below choice or prime for over $48/lb plus shiping. Costco will sell you a choice tenderloin for around $20/lb (which will walk all over the Omaha steak) and a prime tenderloin, astronomically better, for around $25/lb. Plus, most of the beef you find at Costco reveals nice aging (pale pink, not bloody, firm) as opposed to the gray looking meat you tend to get from Omaha. There is simply no comparison. I am not trying to shame you for your choices, but I AM trying to shame you for not knowing what you are talking about.
      You can draw your own conclusions but both you and I know right now: you know nothing about how to choose a higher quality product for the price you are paying.

At first I was excited to see what was in the box, but once I realized that the fillets where the only actual cuts of steak I became very disappointed.. I would value the box at about $30. I ate 1 fillet, it was not great, The fillet had no marbling, and was a brownish tint to it instead of deep red. I also was very let down to think the Omaha steak co would send hotdogs in a steak box. I would not recommend buying one of these boxes. My wife ordered some steaks from Omaha and honestly I have to say they were not worth the money. They were lousy. I have had better steaks from the supermarket. I won't be ordering any thing from them anytime soon.

    I am a great fan of Omaha Steaks and love their meat, fish, and extras. You actually can cut a tender steak with a fork!

      Thank You. That you can. Tired of seeing comments on here saying their meet is tough. They just don’t know how to cook it right. I’ve been working for Omaha Steaks for over 11 years. Love their steaks, period.

    Great story of the family history. Another great example of Americanism! Glad the family is keeping it a privately owned, family business. They then do not have to worry about being PC so as not to hurt someone’s feelers.
