  • If you have an Infiniti JX35 or QX60, a necessary maintenance job is to change your Cabin Filter. It should be done about once a year, maybe once every 2 years if you want to push it. Check the video out. This is a new upload as the other one has some bad edits. Enjoy!

    Thank you for this, I have to watch this vid every time I change the filter because it is such a pain in the ass. With heavier activated charcoal filters, you can't really compress them very much, so taking out the glovebox is the only option.

      Absolutely, no problem at all. It is such a poor design...it is the only cabin filter I've done this far that is designed like this...very annoying. Glad to hear the video helped...thanks for watching!

    I feel your struggle brother, I did removed the glove box the first time changing the cabin air filter, then I realized it wasn't necessary but it is kind of a pain to get to that filter. Then didn't know which direction the air flows 🤦🏻‍♂️

    • @NexusAuto
      @NexusAuto  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Oh haha, I just asked about this on your other comments lol. Did you get the air flow in the right direction? That can cause the blower motor to strain and it may cause your air flow issue with the vents. Not saying it is the cause, but it may be.
      And I 100% agree with you.. can be done without removing the glove box. I think a couple of people mentioned they did it here. But no way am I fitting my hands in there properly to do it! Lol.

    Nissan/QX60 has the most stupid way of changing the cabin air filter.

    • @NexusAuto
      @NexusAuto  5 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hate to say it, but I agree on this one. Not only the spot, but the fact that you HAVE to crumple it a bit to get it to fit. The slot isnt even big enough to fit the filter. Stupid design choice imo.

  • @genevieve1963

    I guess that Infiniti knows that making the cabin filter so difficult to get to will ensure that most owners will pay the $150 they charge to change it.

    • @NexusAuto
      @NexusAuto  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Absolutely. This is definitely one of the more annoying cabin filters I've changed. Not the hardest, but it's up there. I agree with you...they want you to come in and pay that fee. That's an insane amount of money for a filter. Hopefully you're able to change it with help from the video!

    I have a 2013 infinity jx35, my ac just went out today😭. Could this be why it’s blowing out hot air? Help it’s 106 in Texas

    • @NexusAuto
      @NexusAuto  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Damn, sorry to hear that...106 is hot as hell!
      Unfortunately, the cabin filter should not have a direct influence on the temperature of air coming in. It would restrict the volume of air coming in though. If you had cold air, but it was very little air, even running on high, then this could be the cause. But it you have full air blowing, but it is just hot, then it is likely that something else is going on. Regardless, you should change the filter everyone once in a while. But go after that AC first. Most likely, the AC clutch is gone. But the system should be checked for sure.

    do you have any video on how to change the catalytic converter ? and which converter it should be? i went to a shop for the catalytic converter and they recommend a Y Flex pipe but i check on autozone and they have these tiny converters that just go at an angle

    • @NexusAuto
      @NexusAuto  2 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      I don't have any videos on the catalytic converters at this time. They are doable jobs, but not easy, especially the upper cats.
      There is 3 catalytic converters on the QX60, which is probably where the mix up is happening at autozone. There is 2 right up close to the engine, one at the front of the engine, the other at the back, for each bank. These are the main cats, and the ones monitored by the O2 sensors. You would need to remove the y pipe anyways to get to these.
      The other one is actually part of the y pipe. It is more of a cat/resonator combo. So it depends on what went wrong on the vehicle, and which cat is giving an issue (or is there an exhaust leak?).

    • @rayean1
      @rayean1 2 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      @@NexusAuto oh okay thank you very much for clarifying! you are truly one of the most helpful mechanics ive seen by far on YT . I fixed the muffler leak and then i went to another mechanic and we saw the loud noise was coming from the middle of the Flex pipe the Box that latches on to the holder the converters are actually fine . Regardless i ordered A Y flex pipe with converter attached anyway to just replace the whole pipe

    Nissan/Infiniti designed this, and likely most of their cars to be difficult to work on, so people would go to the dealership. Our QX60 doesn't even have a transmission dipstick, but it DOES have the rotten transmission.

    • @NexusAuto
      @NexusAuto  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      I agree there, and this seems to be more and more of a common theme among manufacturers. You have the 2015 and above QX60? Better tuned engine and revised CVT, but much trickier to do a drain and fill on the cvt. And those CVTs are a pain. Baby it, and you will get good life out of it. But you already know what they are like, I'm sure...

    • @NexusAuto
      @NexusAuto  5 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@sidewinderguru7720 explain how, as in, how you do it easier. You saw the video. even with my hypermobile hands, I cannot get my hands to fit and get the filter out. It was jammed inside. If you have a better way to get my hands to fit, I will gladly listen. I am not the only person with this issue, and just because you are able to get your hands to fit and get it, doesnt mean everyone can. The glove box is in the way of getting leverage, so I remove it to make it easier for me, and others who may have the same issue. The filter is smaller than the opening, and that is a stupid design. I love the car, but that is the reality of it. If you have an easier way that I have missed, please let me and the other viewers know.
