I totally agree with you. In 2003 I was severely depressed with two 3 year olds that I didn’t know how I was going to raise them. I was 326 lbs and their father had cheated on me several times I felt worthless. I was so desperate I had roux en y gastric bypass. I refinanced my house to have this surgery my insurance deemed it cosmetic even with physician letters. I had already had a back surgery at 19 yo. A year after WLS I had a full belt skin removal. No one talks about the depression you also get from the cosmetic surgery. The pain, the inability to be mobile, the drains and the medicine after two weeks of all this I cried for no reason. None of these things made me feel better about myself. I still had a low self esteem, I still felt huge @ 145 lbs, I still struggled with food addiction. I learned how to manipulate my tool (my pouch) and ate things I shouldn’t. After some years I gained some weight back. Although my surgeon said I was one of his most successful WLS I didn’t feel successful. I gained to 210 lbs and depressed again then I found keto. I felt keto help me understand that I do have an addiction, I started healing my mind, body and my soul.
I wish for all of us we learn to love ourselves and know how we look in the outside doesn’t fix how we feel on the inside. We have to work in the inside and then the outside will come. I wish I knew that. I did it backwards.
Thank you for sharing Myra. I have been a follower for many years.

Beth I really hope things are working out for you now, both MENTALLY and EMOTIONALLY. I agree that love OF yourself and FOR yourself DEFINITELY has to come from the INSIDE. It's ok that you did it "backwards". The point is you made mistakes (like the rest of us) and you obviously have learned from them (like MOST of us). In the end it will make you a excellent woman, better person and an awesome mom. Hang in there pumpkin with BOTH hands and both feet if you need too!

I love 171 pounds. I don't have my dream body either but I did see a difference right away after I had a body lift. I was blessed not to have the bloating afterwards. Now I have to work to maintain the loss but I'm pretty happy with the way I look now and have accepted that I will never look like those models. You really got it right about the change within yourself, though. Like anything else, it takes time to feel good about who you are inside. Congratulations on your weight loss but I'm glad you're talking about this part of the journey. It's true that it's not spoken about enough.

You are so right on!!! I had my tummy tuck 26 yrs ago and still after I had it, my weight still went up and down. I am 66 and my highest weight known was 303. I lost the weight 3 times only to gain it back. I have been keto for 5 yrs now and have maintained my weight loss but, like you said, it is in your head. You need to know why you eat. I wish I had known this when I was a lot younger! Thank you for all your honesty, it is hard work but, worth it!!!

Ugh, the drains were the worst part of surgery. I’m totally happy with the imperfect results of my tummy tuck because it gave me a bit of body confidence I never had-being able to wear jeans without having to cover my belly with a tunic. Like you, the big scar doesn’t bother me. It was well worth it.

This so resonates with me. I am getting ready to have WLS, but when I was 15, I started dieting and I got to my goal weight my Jr. year in high school. I was so disappointed because even though the weight on the scale was good, I still looked like a linebacker for my school football team. :( I was so disillusioned because I thought I would be small like my sister and my mom. I wasn't prepared for the shock of realizing that no amount of exercise or fitness programs was ever going to make me a size 2 tiny person because I didn't have the bone structure to ever look like that. It totally messed with my idea of what a thin person was. I didn't look like that nor would I ever, but no one ever explained that to me. The shock was something I don't think I ever got over.

The most real conversation! I had 3 friends do their stomach surgeries after having kids due to extra skin and non of them was satisfied or happy . They ended up looking exactly the same , they hate that huge scar , their stomachs got weird like bumps or balls, they got more fat in arms and face . And husbands also not satisfied with the results they preferred their natural instead of the scary big scar . They didn’t get skinnier they all stayed the same or got more weight.

I love how you just open up and share your honest experience. I lost weight after my first pregnancy, about 15 years ago, and didn't have a loose skin problem. Now, I'm in my 40's and have lost 25 pounds, 75 pounds to go. I'm hoping my body bounces back like it did before, but even if it doesn't, I don't think I could ever do surgery. I had 2 C-sections and they were horrible. And now, I have a child with autism to care for as a single mom. I don't think there's anyway I could do it. The idea that we as women are expected to look perfect no matter what is so unrealistic. I want to love my body no matter the weight, no matter the tightness of my skin, etc. So thank you so much for this real talk. Love your channel.

They have all sorts of procedures and injections and STILL tweak their pics so they look flawless. It’s all smoke and mirrors and makes no sense trying to compete with that. I definitely agree that a number on the scale shouldn’t dictate your happiness and hitting your goal weight is not going to be the end all be all cure to self confidence. However I do think it’s really rewarding when you’ve worked so hard dieting and exercising to look down and see you’ve accomplished what you set out to do. You have to acknowledge your progress.
There’s always going to be new goals and more things to improve on. Life is a journey and there’s not a single moment when you’ll be done working on yourself because you should always strive to do better. The important thing is accepting the things you can’t change and appreciating how far you’ve come.

You are so right. I got the gastric sleeve thinking that was going to make me a better person. WRONG! I lost weight but I went through depression because I couldn't eat. I couldn't drink so I was no longer social. Luckily I didn't deal with loose skin even thought I lost 100lbs. I got the surgery thinking my husband at that time was going to love me again. Well we still got a divorce and he remarried to a chubby girl 🤦🏻‍♀️. I was miserable for about 5yrs. I went through a whole process. 10yrs later I finally gave me a chance after I healed. I got remarried and had another baby. (Now I have a 17,14 & 1yr All boys) Now my stomach grew its normal size again and now I've gained back 50. Which I've lost 15lbs in one month. And I gotta say it's thanks to following you and just by eating healthy. 😍😘I'm super happy and on a healthy journey.

Thank you for sharing! I struggle and now I’m pre-diabetic. I’ve been taking care of myself without any meds though eating healthier and exercising. I’ve lost 30 lbs and doing good, it’s been three hard years. You’re very lucky you have found yourself. I would like to see a video about how you handle discussions with Nati. How are you guiding her. Again thank you for being so honest. ✨🌼

Alot of what you said, I can sure relate to. I'm 5ft and was 190 pounds now 103 thanks to low carb/keto lifestyle. I still look at myself and think I'm fat. Everyone tells me how great I look and I feel great. It's just taking some time to catch the vision in the mirror. I Love your cooking and love your honesty.

Thank you so much for being open about this. I definitely want to have surgery. That being said though, I am scared. It's good to hear the truth that it isn't a magic fix. Still takes time and work. You have to still fix the inside more importantly than the out. Love your channel.

I have lost 157 pounds three years. I always had a weight problem . need to lose 25 pounds more. It’s so hard harder now I think than ever. I’m going to try keto see if that don’t help I was counting calories and just eating healthy to lose what I’ve lost. My arms are so stretched out I wear a size larger clothes because of my arms thank you so much for sharing this you’re telling the truth I’m 67 please don’t wait till it’s old as I am to start doing something in your 60s. If you can’t do anything else just eat healthy and walk and then move on to cutting it down more and more that’s what I did❤🙏🙌🙏 I knew if I didn’t do something I would wander bedridden

Thank you for this video. I have wanted a tummy tuck since the age of 27, I am 34 now. I had twins at 22 and before that I was always tiny. As I got older I gained so much weight, and my stomach bothered me so much.
The only reason why I haven't got a tummy tuck is because I have been so afraid of surgery and the recovery. Anyways, I recently started working out and eating better. I haven't stepped on the scale but I definitely see my body becoming more toned and my clothes is fitting better. In the past I have lost weight by eating super healthy and working out but I stopped and I gained the weight back. So this time, I am being more patient and not being as strict with my foods and being obsessed with the scale. I look at my stomach now and it doesn't bother me as much. I told myself I would keep working out n keep changing my eating habits and in a year if i feel that i need the tummy tuck I would get it.

Agreed 💯! I’m glad I did everything I did to lose the weight, but it’s not a cure all. And body dysmorphia is REAL. Sometimes I look in the mirror and feel like I haven’t even changed, when In reality I’ve lost almost 100lbs. It’s difficult because you need to learn to love yourself in a new way.. worth it, but it’s not easy!
