Thanks for having this tour of MAD. Beautiful place! Last time I saw a video of it, it wasn't so organized. Dick DeBartolo sure knows how to promote things. Every time he shows something I have to buy it. Now I'll have to renew my subscription and get this Inside MAD book for reading in my …….!!!
I had no idea Dick did this piece for World News Now! What a wonderful surprise. This book, by the way, is fantastic - a great blend of classic MADness (from seven different decades!) and engaging commentary from MAD contributors and celebrities alike. It's currently being given FREE to new MAD subscribers - what a deal!!!
I know that once upon a time, they made a disappointing MAD movie. Personally, I’m convinced a MAD movie should be an animated anthology film loosely linked with a connecting narrative, with individual chapters of the movie being tributes and animated in the style of the great artists of MAD magazine over the years. Think Heavy Metal the Movie, but done strictly for laughs. Maybe a Man (let’s call him Melvin) who suffers a mental breakdown and literally goes MAD and is prescribed different types of anti-psychotics by his Doctor (whose face we never see until the very end). He then experiences various fantasy worlds and adventures until he finds just the right prescription. Now he can cope with the World ...despite seeing it as a MAD cartoon. The Doctor finally reveals his face and ...it’s Alfred E. Neuman! Well, that’s my pitch. Don’t come breaking my front door down, Hollywood.
yeah the MAD movie barely had anything to do with the book outside of a small Alfred E Neuman cameo at the end. they were definitely going for a National Lampoons approach where they just made a random comedy and put their name on it. the best adaptation of Mad was the animated series that was on Cartoon Network
Go inside the headquarters of the maddest magazine of all time!

We were, MAD. 😞💔
I wonder how long it took Sergio to do that fold-out. I'd say a day, knowing him.
John looks like Bill a bit with that hairstyle.
